 - Entourage 2008 does not deliver attachment Greetings, I was sent a .webloc (a text/xml file) attachment and received it in the newly installed Entourage 2008. Entourage blocked the attachment with the "friendly" note "Entourage has blocked the following potentially unsafe attachments: [name] <Remove them> <Learn more...>" The "Learn more..." option provides the following. <being Help> Cause: For security reasons, Entourage blocks attachments that could potentially harm your computer. Solution: If you do not trust that the attachment is safe, delete it from your computer. Solution: If you trust the message sender and want to receive the attachment, ask the sender to compress the file and then send it to you again. <end Help> It seems to me that this is not a reasonable procedure for handling this situation. Entourage should warn me there might be a risk, but it should not unilaterally strip the file off and tell me later to tell the sender to resend. In fact if the file were malware it could be just as risky when unzipped as when it is uncompressed. So the stripping and warning serve only to annoy the user. It looks like we are stuck with this situation and I imagine there is nothing you can do about it. I just wanted to make this visible complaint. Tag: Stopping Redirects Tag: 96061

 - unwanted reminders I am getting unwanted reminders when creating calendar items in entourage 2008. I have done the following in Outlook: - Entourage menu>Turn off Office Reminders - Entourage menu>Preferences>Calendar>Unchecked default reminder of 15 minutes - When creating the event, unchecked the reminder box Yet, after all this, after creating the event, my Outlook client shows the event as having a 15 minute reminder!  - Forms in Entourage?? Does anybody know if Microsoft Entourage supports the use of forms that can be embedded in messages like Microsoft Outlook for Windows does? My IT department uses a special form that is basically like a repair tag, and whenever anybody has a problem with their computer, that person can open up the preformatted form and tell us what the problem is, and then we can pass that on to the appropriate tech guy.  - How to connect to ExchangeServer? Hello all together, is there somewhere a really good and detailed guidance how to connect Entourage to an ExchangeServer 2003? I found something on the web, but it didn't work on my kollegues MacOS. The Exchange-Server has the IP-Address 192.168.130.222. This Server is also the DomainController of the domain kirche-kuecknitz.de. The Mac-User has the eMail-Address r.devos@kirche-kuecknitz.intern and his Username in ActiveDirectory is r.devos The following two screenshots let you see, how I configured the Entourage: http://www.kirche-kuecknitz.de/entourage1.jpg http://www.kirche-kuecknitz.de/entourage2.jpg That follows the guides I found on the web.  - Yahoo Mail Bug fix Just read about this on Macworld Weekly newsletter: A Yahoo Mail Bug Read full story here: <http://www.macworld.com/article/133275/2008/05/0502bugsnfixes.html> Problem: AT&T/Yahoo DSL users have had trouble sending e-mail, getting an error message whenever they try. Typically, the message states that the user's password was rejected or that the e-mail address needs to be verified. Fix: * If your POP server and SMTP server names include "sbcglobal," substitute "att" instead. For example, change "smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com" to "smtp.att.yahoo.com." But don't change the "sbcglobal" term in your e-mail address (such as steve@sbcglobal.net)--that remains the same. * Enable SSL for your POP server and select to override the default POP port with port 995. * Enable SSL for your SMTP server and select to override the default SMTP port with port 465. After doing all this, your e-mail problems should be gone. If not--and if you continue to get errors about your account needing to be verified--the apparent cause is a problem on AT&T's end.  - "Links" Function Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange A suggestion and question related to the links function in Entourage: 1) The "Links" button should provide an in-menu list of selectable items instead of opening an entirely different window. 2) If a user is trying to link a message to a previously defined Task, the window that appears shows both Complete and Incomplete Tasks as possible link-able items.  - Entourage calendar time format problem Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel I recently purchased Office 2008 Home & Student edition and after installing it on my Mac Pro (Leopard 10.5.2), I upgraded Office to the latest 12.0.1 version. I have a strange problem in that the month view in Entourage Calendar insists on showing times in 24 hour format even though the OS is set to use 12 hour (AM/PM) format. Everywhere else in Office 2008, the time is displayed correctly in 12 hour format, and in Entourage email receipt times, calendar list times etc., are also shown correctly in 12 hour format with the AM/PM indicator. Even when I create a new calendar item, I am prompted to enter start/end times in 12 hour AM/PM format, but as soon as I look at the Calendar 'month' view, Entourage displays items in 24 hour format and without the AM/PM indicator. So for example, an appointment for 09:00AM shows up in the calendar simply as "9 Call work", or an item entered as 05:00PM shows up as "17 Collect car". I have double checked my System Preferences (International/Format) and everything appears correct, so why is the month view in Entourage calendar doing it's own thing, and how can I change it?  - Entourage 2008 Group email error I recently upgraded a user from Entourage x up to 2008. She has a lot of groups and they did import over. It seems now some of the groups will get an error when trying to send email to the group. The errors are 5.1.3 Bad Recipient Address Syntax and at the bottom Error -17099. i researched these and it says it is a bad address or the ISP is not allowing it. The groups worked fine in Entourage X. Some groups have 5 people and some have up to 25. Have had the error in both. The odd thing is if I send the email to each individually it will send. The groups have the right email addresses. Also have rebuilt the database and it does the same thing. I wanted to know if there was any other ideas before I have to redo all these groups.  - E2K7SP1 Entourge 2008 Out of Office Good day everyone, At our University, we have a 30% Apple client base, some of which use Entourage 2008. One of the issues that we having deals with the Out of Office assistant using Entourage 2008. In our production environment, when we choose Out of Office form the Tools menu, the applet times out while 'retrieving status' with a msgbox that states: "Out of Office status is temporarily unavailable because Entourage cannot connect to the server." In our VM environment that our training department uses, it works just fine. In both environments, all clients connect to the CAS server(s) via HTTPS. There are major differences between the two. Training environment has one A/D server and one Exchange server house the CAS, HT, and MB roles. It has 10-20 people accessing during class times in an A/D structure that has 5000 people entered. The production environment has 6 CAS servers that people connect to via a Cisco provided, load balancing, proxying service name. This load balancing is 'sticky'. Most of our mailbox servers are clustered, although we have tested in production with test accounts on non-clustered mailbox servers. There are 48,000 mail account objects in the directory. We believe we have ruled out performance issues on the mailbox servers and we are working to move a CAS server out of the service name for isolation there.  - Already Set Entourage Disappeared Version: 2008 Email Client: pop Today I set up my Entourage for the first time (recently bought a MacBookPro); created my account, imported all messages from my PC, also entire address book, etc. It began working perfectly well, sent quite a few messages from Entourage and received some; closed the mac and was even ready do delete all the transfered stuff in PC (fortunately I didn't!!!); opened mac later and Entourage was to its original state. NO imported e-mails, NO addresses, NOT EVEN MY ACCOUNT info!!!! it even asked me to set up Entourage "as I was using it for the FIRST time"; Please let me know what could happen?  - Entourage 2008 crashes when I quit Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Hi everyone, I have had the same problem for 2 days now. I use Entourage to connect to a Hosted Exchange 2007 server, as well as check 3 IMAPS email accounts and 5 POP accounts. Whenever I want to quit, there is a message asking to confirm because "a network operation is in progress". When I check the Progress bar, nothing seems to be hapenning at the moment. If I confirm that I want to quit, then Entourage crashes 50% of the time. I have rebuilt my database but this hasn't fixed the problem... Second problem: messages with accented characters in the subject (as well as calendar events with accented characters) aren't sync'ed from my Exchange server. Any help would be greatly appreciated!  - My Day Problems Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel I have 2 MY DAY problems which I'd really like fixed permanently. 1 -- it takes up too much memory, and since I edit film, I'd like to keep my memory for other chores. But I can't seem to get rid of it. I've attempted lots of things and just found another approach, I will try later, in this forum. In the past I thought it was gone, only to find out it just put itself back into my system with the next morning's boot. But it would be since to configure it so it doesn't use so much memory. 2 -- This was strange and eliminating MY DAY fixed the problem. The dreadful white screen when using FIREFOX and attempting to load HOTMAIL. Yup! White -- Nothing else. The address is correct, done appears in the lower left corner -- but there's just a white screen. Turned out that eliminating MY DAY enabled the full screen download. Also, I'd noticed before this, that when I used FIREFOX to download, the little popup that loads letting you know the download status too was blank -- the box is there, but it was empty. This was annoying, but I didn't fuss about anything, until I found I couldn't access hotmail. This is a problem I'd like fixed because I like having the calendar on my desktop, and it's style is actually pretty sweet.  - Exchange 2007 Voicemail Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange As a brand new MBP user with Office 2008 I am looking at moving from Outlook 2007 to Entourage. Our company used Exchange 2007 with UM so all voicemails come into our Inbox. It works good in Outlook, however I am not able to play the files on my MAC from Entourage. I have installed the WMA.WMV drivers from Microsoft for Quicktime, however when I click on the WMA attachment it opens Quicktime but will not play the file. What am I missing? I have searched quite a bit for anything on the Exchange 2007 UM support in Entrouage but I have not found anything. Any advice on how I can play my voicemails in Entrouage 2008? Thank you!  - Copying calendar I am running Entourage 2004 on my MB Pro. For the last several years I have used it to communicate with others at my university via an Exchange-based system. I have also used it to receive email from other accounts, e.g., gmail. I have left the university and no longer use the Exchange based system. I changed my default email to gmail and, in the process, my address book and calendar now default to new databases that are not university-related. That's fine, but the problem is that I don't want to lose the calendar or address book I created when the Exchange based system was the default. How do I copy or otherwise move that calendar and address book to the calendar which now comes up by default, or do I have to manually reenter everything? Exporting doesn't seem to do it. Thanks.  - Zip file attachments unreadable on Windows machines Using Entourage, I sent a .zip file containing a Word document, several JPEG files and a PDF file to several Windows users. All were able to unzip the file, however none was able to see anything other than the PDF. In Entourage preferences, I specified the file was to be encoded for Windows and file extensions appended. (In fact, I also tested this by sending the same file encoded for all computers (AppleDouble) and without file extensions appended. Still no dice. I've reverted to sending just the regular Word, JPEG and PDF files and those open fine on the Windows machines. I just wanted to use the .zip file to consolidate about 20 individual files into one. Some of these users would have permission to view and change calendar and contacts on their boss' mailbox from their own profile using Entourage. In Ent. 2004, there were numerous issues with sync errors and permissions, so much so, that we set the users up with Parallels and Outlook. New meetings are fine, but if a delegate (editor access) moves a meeting as my delegate using Outlook 2003, then it seems to disappear on Entourage 2008 (though the moved meeting shows up correctly on my iPhone and BlackBerry and in OWA. So evidently there=92s something wrong with the Entourage interface Multiple users all using Entourage 2008 and their admin assistants or delegates with editor access are using Outlook 2003 have the same issue. There is nothing wrong with the local Entourage database file. I emptied the cache on the calendar to force it to rebuild the calendar, all the past calendar and current calendar events that were missing appeared suddenly. But this does not solve the underlying problem. This particular account is on Exchange 2007, the delegate is on Exchange 2007. I have a new iMac that is now running 10.5.1. Just did the upgrade from 10.4.11 this past weekend. Office 08 was installed a few months prior to the upgrade. I was able to search for many saved and older emails and have no problems finding them and opening them. Only since Monday (after the upgrade on Sat) can I not search for certain emails. Even some received the week prior to the upgrade. I had been using Office 04 prior to that. I know that every thing should be on the mail server if using IMAP. Could this be just a coincidence that something happened on the server and that is why I cannot find email i know were there just before the upgrade? I have complete backups of the iMac before and after the upgrade. I was able to locate a number of cashed emails that are only in text. Can those be re imported?  - Reading msg emails in Entourage 2008 Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel I have a problem with reading old emails in Entourage 2008. When I converted from a PC to a MAC, I brought over a number of Outlook emails stored in various folders. These are all .msg files. These wouldn't open in Entourage 2004 but there was a work-around which involved changing the suffix of the files to .eml and then opening it in Entourage 2004. Although the resultant file was a bit messy, I could at least read the original email text. However I have now converted to Entourage 2008 and this work-around no longer seems to work. I archived and installed when upgrading from Panther. I have two questions please. 1) I am unable to rebuild my database since upgrading to Leopard, inevitably there will be a price to pay for this in the future when it all grinds to a halt and nowhere to go. Can this be fixed. 2) I have some old e mail addresses which still appear in the new mail window when I type a persons name. We decided to upgrade from Entourage 2004 to 2008. I tried a couple test emails after the installation, and everything seemed to work. Now suddenly ever since yesterday morning I can no longer send emails. (receiving is still working great) There is no error message. It shows that it was sent, however no one I send to has received anything.  - Read and Deleted Emails are Going to Trash and Becoming "UnRead" Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: imap I read an email. I delete the email. The email goes to my trash. Within a minute or two my Trash folder with become BOLD and claim it has one message not read. I click on the folder and it claims that the message I JUST deleted was never read. This happens no matter if I open the email or just preview the email. There were times where I'll open and email and read it for a few minutes, leaving it open for a while. Once I delete it the trash always claims that it hasn't been read. What's up with this? How do I stop redirecting emails? I had been redirecting news emails to my work email, but the company has been bought and I'm no longer using that email address. Couldn't find anything in Entourage, Entourage Help or in the Entourage Forum.

Well they are either redirected through a rule in Entoruage (and you
have to find it and delete it), or, more frequently, through a setting
on the server itself. In this case, it has nothing to do with Entourage
at all...
