 - Loss of all data upon restart New friends all ... I have finally migrated over from my G-4 / OS 9.2 /Outlook to a great new G-5 / 10.4 / Entourage ... for all my email. Gave up trying to import my address book, as it came across with all the fields in the wrong spots, so I simply rekeyboarded the entire list over a few weeks. Then, after a restart (usaully leave my machine "on", and in sleep mode all the time) ... and firing up Entourage to check my email, it acted like it had just been installed, and then opened with complete clean slate. All you do is send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands.) No catch, that was it . So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured, what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and 6.00, right? Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! AND THEN GUESS WHAT... Then I invested the measly 6.00. Well, GUESS WHAT!!... Within 7 days, I started getting money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about 25. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over 1,000! In the third week I had over 10,000 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over 42000, and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth 6. and 6 stamps. By the way, I have spent more than that on the lottery in the last month!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works.... also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, So you can get the information off of it, as you need it. SO LET'S GET STARTED AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on eash piece of paper, "PLEASE PUT MY NAME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." STEP 4: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. If you do not live in the U.S. or there is a foreign address, you must put an international stamp on your envelopes. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. ( I think there are close to 24,000 groups in all.) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!! DIRECTIONS FOR POSTING TO NEWSGROUP BULLETINS STEP 1: You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put you cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this letter. Then select 'copy' from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computer's temporary memory. STEP 2: Open a blank 'notepad' or word processor file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the 'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list. STEP 3: Save your new notepad file as a *.txt file. If you want to do your postings in different sittings, you'll always have this file to fo back to. STEP 4: Use your Internet provider and search engines to find various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions). STEP 5: Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by higlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, and this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group. Then click the post message button. You're done with your first one! Congratulations... THAT'S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away. Then start posting again. That's it! Do you realize that thousands of honest people just like you all over the world are joining the Internet and reading these articles everday?  - Opening PDF in EntourageX I upgraded to Acrobat 7 recently, but double-clicking a PDF in Entourage was still causing it to open with 5. Some PDF's would not open or display properly, so I simply took 5 off my machine, thinking that would force PDFs to open with 7. Now double-clicking on an attached PDF in Entourage does nothing at all. I have to drag to desktop where it will open with double click in 7. I have read where such things are controlled "in the system" but I can't find where to control it. Acrobat 7 is the preferred app for PDFs in Get Info. Where else do settings have to change? Thanks.  - Reply not including ALL previous messages When I reply to messages with the preference set to 'include entire message in reply', Entourage only copies the most recent message and the remainder are not included. I have tried quitting Entourage and re-opening the application with no luck. I'm running entourage 2004 version 11.2.1 Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.  - Entourage Problems Entourage refused to load on Tuesday and all the fixes wouldn't work. Luckily enough I had mirrored my drives and I managed to put the database from it on to the other drive and rebuild it. Although I have removed the offending database from the other drive, entourage still refuses to load. I have tried I reinstall but no luck but will try this again. I like entourage but it has annoyed me on a couple of occasions and I will look at getting another email client but I have used this for years and like it so I may stick with it.  - Usenet and Entourage Hi everyone, I'm moving to Mac, and I'm loving it, although there are still some things I am not completely satisfied with. For instance, the way Entourage presents Usenet groups. In Outlook Express over Windows, whenever you pick a thread, you can see the messages "hanging" from the initial, or from the one they are an answer to. In Entourage, so far, I've only been capable of seeing all the messages in a thread hanging from the initial message of the thread.  - Pulling Contact Information From Exchange Server I have seen this discussed but was wondering if anyone has worked out a solution. I've a bunch of contact that I've added to my address book prior to having the directory services in SP2. My contact has the typical information you get when you do a 'add to address book' from an email (name, email). The details available in the directory include all the contacts information (such as office number, address, phone numbers, etc). I'd like to overwrite my contacts with the information available in the directory. Has anyone written any applescript that could handle this?  - Calendar Question I have a user who is updating his calendar locally on his machine or on his Palm and then syncing it back to Entourage - can Exchange sync the entried from the local calendar to the exchange calendar? or do I need to manually copy the entries over? if I need to manually copy, then I need the user to enter the events into the exchange calendar instead of the local calendar?  - Message from Entourage Fail, but arrive via Outlook 2003 Hi. I have a small business server running Exchange 2003. I use Entourage and Outlook 2003. My domain is a Custom DynamicDNS domain (melkonian.net). One of my clients can not receive email when sent via Entourage. I can send this client an email from Outlook 2003 without issue, but if I send an email from Entourage the customer never gets the message. I am not sure if this is an issue with Entourage mail formatting, a setting in Exchange, or something on the customers end (which I have no idea what that item might be). Here is what I have done to test. 1. Sent email from Entourage to customers primary account and Yahoo account. Mail arrived at Yahoo account only. No NDR was reported back to me. 2. Sent email from Outlook 2003 to customers primary account and Yahoo account. Mail arrived at both accounts. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks.  - Stupid Question re: Email Archival I've used Entourage 2004 for some time & overall, am most pleased with the product. Today, I had occassion to look for an older "sent" Email to retrieve some info. At this point, I've discovered that all of the Email that's in either my "Sent" or other special folders has no content older than one-month back from today's date. Obviously some scripting which must be a part of Entourage is either archiving or purging these older mail items. I'm hoping they're archived, not purged. My installation of Entourage is "out of the box"; i.e., there has been no custom tailoring of the product. Can anyone shed any light on this issue.  - Beachball after Sleep Since I updated to the latest Entourage 11.2.1 and to Tiger 10.4.3 (at about the same time, so I don't know which made the difference), Entourage is almost always unresponsive for several minutes after my PowerBook wakes up from sleep. It takes so long to wake up that at first I kept using Force Quit; then one time I left it running for five minutes and suddenly it came back to life. I have seen mention of this before on this list, but cannot recall seeing any solutions. At the moment my work-around is to try to remember to quit out of Entourage before putting my Mac to sleep. It may be relevant that I have an Exchange server account that can only be reached if a VPN is active. Most of the time the VPN is turned off. Whenever I quit Entourage with the VPN turned off I get a warning that a network operation is in progress, though I don't have that account in my automatic send and receive list. -- ... Al Quirt ...  - Forwarding HTML messages Can anybody please explain to me why Entourage is the ONLY email client for the Macintosh that can NOT forward complex HTML messages properly?! This has got to be the #1 most annoying thing about Entourage that will FINALLY push our entire office over the edge to use Apple's Mail instead. We desperately need a way for forward complex HTML messages to other users, without them becoming an unreadable blob of code. Just as a quick example, this morning we received an HTML-based holiday card that we needed to forward to other people... can't do it within Entourage. You lose the entire formatting of the message. Last week, we emailed a NetFlix Gift Certificate to ourselves that we wanted to forward on to somebody else... same thing, can't forward it on.  - How to Archive old mail and get ready for 2006 There may be other ways to archive your old mail files but the following is what I do toward then end of each year to get ready for the new year.. 1. I already have a mail folder called "Archived Mail' with sub folders for previous years. The first step is to created a new sub folder called "Mail 2005" 2. Used the standard Entourage tip to drag my current "Inbox" and "Sent Items" to the desktop. This created two mbox format files. It tales a few minutes so please do not rush. 3. Now drag the two new mbox files into the newly created "Mail 2005" folder. I then changed the filenames to Inbox-05 and Sent Items-05. 4. Check that these files are good copies of your current Inbox and Sent Items in the new Mail 2005 folder are correct. Check that they look like your current Inbox and Sent Items. If not correct, repeat steps 2 and 3 until you get it right. 5. Once you are satisfied (step 4), open your primary mbox and use the "Select All" and Delete Key to create fresh file that will contain your 2006 mail. Do the same thing with your Sent Items file. 6. After you finish the above I recommend rebuilding the database by starting Entourage with the Option key held down. The cool thing about this procedure and the reason I use it is I have almost instant access to old mail files. I just went in and stripped the attachments from the 2004 files. I have folders for my old Eudora mail and separate folders for 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 Entourage mail. Each year is a mouse click away in Entourage. I have probably made this sound too complicated.  - Address book contacts dont match E-mail !!! Hi, I am a new Mac Entourage user (OS X) and have a bizarre problem that I just dont know how has happened! My contact/address book contains around 150 contacts, but the E-mail addresses for these contacts has become 'mixed up' - ie the E-mail addresses are all still present, but it looks like the E-mails have randomly associated themselves with different contacts If I double click a contact, it also shows the wrong E-mail address.... I have a PDA which I use to sync (and the PDA does have a correct version) - could it have become corrupted somehow due to the sync process?? I have also tried a 'resync' but the Mac still shows the wrong info.. If there is no way to fix, do you think I should delete all the contacts and then re-download from PDA? Lastly, if I want to BACKUP my E-mail (ie all folders/E-mails under the main tree) can I simply drag/drop onto a Windows 2000 Server?? Many thanks, and sorry for the dump questions!  - Graphics when transferring to a PC Hi there I Have: PowerPoint:mac 2004 11.2 iMac G5 OS X 10.4.3 I like using Powerpoint but have two problems - I'll send a separate post for each one. Graphics I usually have to transfer my presentations to a borrowed PC laptop to show them - I also have (PC) colleagues who sometimes want copies of my presentations. Trouble is some of my graphics don't show on a PC - I get a QuickTime logo instead. All my PC PowerPoint presentations are okay on the Mac. I don't know too much about QuickTime - I don't do anything in particular that I know of to use it for anything - but if there is a way to make sure that Graphics I use show properly on a PC I'd like to know about it. An example is a graphic I've copied from a web page.  - Progress Window (Corrected posting!) Sorry everyone - my previous posting on this subject "escaped" before I had checked it properly. Here it is again with corrections. I have: Entourage 11.2.1 iMac G5 OS X 10.4.3 When I hit the send and receive button I would prefer that the "Progress" window automatically appeared - but I haven't found a way to set it to do that (it did on Outlook Express on my old iMac) - is there a way? Also (and more important than the issue above) - sometimes the progress window has a bit of extra information Sending: To: Completed: Receiving: From: Completed: But note that I said sometimes. Sometimes it does not have the extra information. Whether on not it has this extra information seems to be quite random (but by Murphy's law it's never there when I really want it!). I haven't found a way to turn this on or off. As I still use a dialup I find the information useful e.g. It will tell me the name of a very large file that is taking a long time to send or receive which can help me to decide whether to abort the process because the phone line is required and do my send or receive later.  - Anyone using the "Postponed" scripts? I've been using Bryan Harris's Postponed/Delayed Send scripts for years (http://scriptbuilders.net/files/postponedelayedsend1.95.html). They're an important part of my GTD strategy and Entourage 2004. However, over the past month, the second script (the one that brings the postponed emails back into the InBox) has stopped working. I've tried downloading them again, and checking the parameters (Postponed folder, both scripts in the Scripts folder, etc), and the Postponed script does work.  - File locations Hi All, I'm new to groups... Because of a major motherboard and disc failure, I'm migrating from OS X Panter using Entourage X to Entourage 2004 on OS X Tiger on a new machine. Fortunately, I've backed up my Microsoft User Data "Main Identity" folder fairly recently. I used the wizzard to "import" the Main Identity data into Entourage 2004. My folder structure imports fine (i.e., the names of folders that I created in Entourage X), but all of the folders are empty. There are no old e-mail messages to be found. My database file in Main Identity is fairly large (2 gigs) so I believe the old messages must be there...somewhere. Does anybody have any suggestions for how/where to find them and bring them into my Entourage 2004 on my new computer.  - iPhoto to Entourage: Why can't I see the photos? There are two strange things here. Unlike Apple's MAIL, when I send photos from iPhoto to Entourage to email someone, you cannot see the photos while actually composing the email. Isn't there some way to remedy this? It's very annoying to not see the photos you are trying to tell someone about! MAIL does it well, in fact, you can type in comments between each photo, making very specific comments. Isn't this possible in Entourage? (And if not, what a goof!) To get around the above problem, I will sometimes save the email (with photos already attached) as a draft. Then I can open it again and see the pictures. BUT I still can't type from this photo-visible stage, and if I double-click in order to edit, invariably, every other photo chnages into an unable-to-display icon (the small white box with the red X in it)!  - Mail sent from POP account is received as new mail on Entourage? Hello, I imagine there is a simple fix to this. I currently have Entourage set up to download messages from my G-Mail account. For some reason, it downloads all of the messages I send from my G-Mail Account as if they are new messages that were received from my G-Mail account.  - Project sharing network and .mac tips? I share 3 projects with a co-worker through my .mac account. While syncronizing, Entourage will be hung up or stalled for 5 to 15 minutes (spinning beach ball). In rare instances, the entire machine freezes and I am forced to restart. I can work in other applications. So to get around this, I will not allow Entourage to connect with my .Mac account when starting. I only do so when we have things to synchronize.  - Entourage attaching two copies, not one I'm using Entourage X for Mac with Tiger. My accounting software (MYOB) places invoices to be mailed in Entourages Outbox with the .pdf file of the invoice attached to the email. When I send the email, the only attachment is the .pdf file, but when the recipient receives the email, there are two files attached, the original .pdf file, and a .jpg of the same file? This includes messages with a vast range of obvious words in the subject referring to sex, prescription drugs, stock investments etc etc. Words like (apologies in advance if anyone considers some of these words offensive) sex, penis, viagra, cialis, and many others which are definitely too rude to send to an open forum. So I thought that I'd try and fix the problem myself by setting up my own additional Junk Mail Filter rule. The problem is that despite creating a rule that looks for a big range of words in the subject, set to trigger "if any criteria are met" and then mark the messages as Junk and move them to the Junk folder, the message still come straight through to the Inbox. Why is this? I've looked and looked and I can't see any reason why this rule shouldn't work properly. To make sure that another rule isn't in some way "masking" this rule I've moved it to the top of the list, and I can't see anything else I can do to make it work.  - Strange Calendar Printing Bug Every week, when I print a weekly calendar (Sunday to Saturday) for my wife, "all-day" events for the following Sunday (the one following the Saturday on which the week ends) show up on Tuesday of the current week.  - Attachments "greyed out" with IMAP account Entourage 11.1 client on Mac OS 10.3.9 with an IMAP account on an Exchange 2003 SBS server. Odd problem just started happening with attachments where the attached files are listed with the proper name and extension and application association as well as size, but appears greyed out. I can save to disk and attempt to open. It will open the correct associated application, but errors out imediately. I don't have the exact error. .jpg files seem to be fine, but word, excel, Acrobat, etc all error the same way. I have tried recreating the account to re subscribe to the folders, but no luck. I deleted 12,000 emails and their attachments - then deleted the delete file. To my surprise, the database was still 1.65 gigs - even after restarting computer.  - Entourage 2004 Calendar Entourage calendar will not allow me to go past December 31, 2005. We have three people in our office and we have several differnt project centers set up. None of our calendars will go to January 1st, 2006. I have upgraded, looked for patches, had a technician come in, called a help number, created a new identity, stopped sharing th projects with the rest of the office. There is a smaller window on the left side of the calendar that shows a smaller version of the calendar and that I can move ahead to 2006. Nothing works. Any suggestions.  - Enhanced dock functionality I think we can all agree that Entourage is a MUCH better email client than Apple's Mail application. However, there is ONE nice thing about Mail that Entourage does not have: Mail has "enhanced dock functionality" in 4 important ways that Entourage does not. #1. Clicking-and-holding on the dock icon for Mail gives you the opportunity to "Get New Mail". This is PERFECT for people like myself who prefer to check their email manually (instead of setting their email program to check mail on a schedule). The beauty of being able to check email from the dock icon means that you don't have to LEAVE the current application that you're working in just to check to see if new email has arrived. If new email HASN'T arrived, then you're still working in your current app. #2. Clicking-and-holding on the dock icon for Mail also gives you the opportunity to "Compose New Message". This is FANTASTIC! Again, you don't need to bring all of your Mail windows to the foreground just to compose a new message. The new message window floats above whatever application you're currently working in. This would be GREAT for Entourage to embrace this as well. #3. The dock icon for Mail shows the NUMBER of new messages that have been received. This is a really nice extra touch that I would love to see Entourage add to their dock icon! Actually, it would be really nice for Entourage to leapfrog Mail in these regards by providing even more functionality, like DockStar does: http://www.ecamm.com/mac/dockstar/ #4. Dragging-and-dropping any file to the Mail icon ALWAYS creates a BRAND NEW email with that file as the attachment. However, in Entourage, it seems to attach the icon to the FRONTMOST WINDOW in Entourage. If the frontmost window is not an outgoing message, THEN it creates a brand new email message. Is this the desired behavior for everyone? I have found this to be confusing for me. I actually prefer Mail's behavior, although I can see how the Entourage behavior could be desirable in some cases.  - Public Folder emails reverting to Not Read Entourage 11.2.1 Exchange Server, with the latest and greatest service pack (We were hoping this would fix our problem) Users can read or mark as read emails sent to Public Folder "FolderA".  - Junk filter suddenly not working? This is odd. Since 2 days ago, a bunch (20 or 30) very blatant spam emails have gotten through to my Inbox in my Entourage 2004 (v11.2.1). When I say blatant, I mean text emails that have the classics like Cialis, Viagra, etc. I haven't added any new accounts in months, and my Junk mail filter has always been set to High.  - Exchange Sharing Trouble I'm trying to help a client set up a small office on Entourage (SP2) with Exchange (hosted by their ISP). It seems to connect fine, mail functions work, etc. OWA access seems to work fine via the web. When connecting to the Exchange Server from an Outlook client, I'm able to access shared folders. However, trying the same thing from Entourage (selecting File->Open Other User's Folder... and selecting the user and folder type) results in the following error: The user's folder could not be found. Entourage could not find a mailbox for the user (user's name). Any thoughts about where the problem might be? And, regarding delegation, it seems that we can't set it up via Entourage, as the Exchange Server requires an SSL connection. I see the message that "Entourage cannot use a secure connection to set delegation options." Since our Exchange server can't be connected to without SSL, the delegation fails. WIndows OS produces special toolbar buttons on top, such as voting
buttons yes, no, or whatever the sender specified. Viewing the same
e-mail with Entourage 2004 deos not produce these special toolbar
buttons. Is this something I need to turn on, or is this feature not
supported? I was under the impression that Entourage 2004 is fully
compatibile with MS exchange servers.
