 - Unable to send to accounts on exchange server I've just started using Entourage 2004 at a new company. I set up my account as an exchange server client. I'm able to access my various boxes and calendars fine, I can receive email, and I can send email to external email addresses fine. When I send an email to someone at the same company (including myself), the email goes without complaint and shows up in my "Sent" box on the exchange server, but it does not get delivered to the recipient. We're not seeing any errors logged on the exchange server. >From exchange's tracking page, we see "SMTP advanced queue failed to deliver message" Any advice on what might be misconfigured?  - Trouble sending Omnigraffle files via Entourage When User A sends Omnigraffle files to other users (all running Entourage), the file extension (.graffle) is replaced by #9BEC2. So, originally a file named SomethingOrOther.graffle comes out titled SomethingOrOther#9BEC2. When you try to open the file directly from within the message in Entourage, it doesn't know how to. If you save the attachment, and try to open it via File>Open in OmniGraffle, it's greyed out and you cannot open it. In Terminal, using "file", it reports that it is an "XML document text". So, I tried just changing the file extension back to .graffle, and it opens fine. Any idea why it's omitting/changing the file extension to begin with?  - BES issue not resolved? I found this post from 2004 and am experiencing the exact same issue. --------SNIP--------- Just got a brand new sparkling iMac G5. I love everything about it. Office 2004 makes it simple to co-habitate with my windows lap top and other pc users. The Entourage interface is on par or better than Outlook 2003 in most cases. The only stinkin problem I have with the Mac/Office/Entourage is that when I file or delete messages from within my configured Exchange 2003 account via Entourage, my exchange server gets updated (I.e. My Windows Outlook 2003 machines see the change), but my Blackberry does not. I just don't get why the exchange server is not communicating the file or deletion of the message to the Blackberry Enterprise server when the file or delete is done with Entourage. Everything works fine when I file or delete a message with Outlook 2003. What is Entourage doing differently? You would think that as long as the Exchange Server is being updated, the change would trickle to the Blackberry. Please, please, please, any help is appreciated. --------SNIP--------- The follow up was this: --------SNIP--------- I was told by BlackBerry support in the last week that it has something to do with the way Entourage strips the header from an email the the BB serices uses when it syncs with Exchange. So if you mark a message as read in Entourage it will update the Exchange server and then sync with your BB, but if you move a message (or delete it) with Entourage it will update Exchange, but not your BB device. It sucks that microsoft makes both products with this flaw. It's almost like they don't want people using BB with Entourage. --------SNIP--------- Has anything been done to resolve this?  - Entourage will no longer auto-stuff attachements Anyone having this issue? Everything was fine until I installed Stuffit 11, or it may have something to do with one of the updates that MS came out with recently. I contacted Allume Systems, and they sent me their 6.5.2 Stuffit Engine installer, but that did nothing. so the work around is to stuff folders before attaching. Is there a fix out there?  - Moving from Outlook in XP to Entourage in Mac OS I am currently using Outlook 2003 in a Windows XP environment to pull in my email from yahoo and gmail accounts. Now that I am using a MacBook Pro... I need to figure out a way to move all my messages from Outlook 2003 in Windows XP to Entourage 2004 in Mac OSX. Can someone help? Please note that I do not have access to an exchange server - I simply use the POP/SMTP protocol to send and receive email via yahoo and gmail servers.  - Having Problem with Entourage - Need Help! I am using an iBook G4, running OS 10.4.8, Entourage 2004. I was in the middle of receiving/downloading a large number of messages when Entourage got "stuck". I quit and when I tried to continue to receive messages, I received the error message "Error Message: The POP server returned an unexpected reply to a command that Entourage issued." (Error -16999). I deleted the 15 first (oldest) messages in the inbox via the server. I have tried selecting and unselecting the use account with secure password option. Still got the error message. Next, I connected chosethe option to view the mail server in Entourage so that I could see the messages on the server via Entourage and just kept deleting messages. After deleting several hundred emails, the emails began downloading from the online server. I thought my problems was solved. However, now when my emails begin to download, it just gets stuck. It either causes my Entourage to lock up or I get a "server timed out" error message. Also, if I choose the option to view the messages on the server in Entourage, once I click on the "view server" folder, Entourage locks up. And it shows all the many messages I manually deleted from the server. I have checked and rechecked the server, and those messages are not there. I am sure it is not a server issue, as this is affecting only me - none of my coworkers are having any issues with their email. I have exported all new messages that I must keep and tomorrow at work I am going to take my last working backup of my MUD folder and replace the current one with it in the hopes that whatever corrupted it will go away.  - keeping mail identities on Flash Drive Hello all, I am trying to find a solution to keep my Entourage synced between two computers - a MacBook that i use as my main computer at work and my iMac at home. I am aware of the solution of copying the MUD folder files. Since one of my accounts is a GMail account which can only have one identity downloading via POP, I have to be careful about turning off the GMail account before transferring the files. While this works, it relys on me to remember a step that is small enough to forget. I notice that my MUD files only only take up about 2 GB of space. So I was wonderinging if a more effective solution could be to use a flash drive with 4 GB as the location for storing my identity files and then just swapping the drive out. I already use a flash drive for my work files so it is something I am quite familiar wiht swapping in and out of the computers. Anyone have experience with this approach?  - Uploading contacts to Adress book HI I"m trying to import some email addresses and names from an Excell spreadsheet to the Entourage address book. I've saved it as a comma or tab delimited file and go thru the whole process, but nothing seems to happen???...no error message, just nothing happens??  - Entourage Problems I'm currently having problems with Entourage after I attempted to send a large number of photos as attachments yesterday. After the server rejected the e-mail I went into the Outbox folder and tried to delete it but Entourage froze. Now whenever I go into Entourage it either freezes as soon as I attempt to Send/Receive mail or if I click on the Outbox folder. I'm running Mac OS X version 10.4.8 on a MacBook Pro and I'm also a Mac newbie (just switched over from PC). I'd greatly appreciate any recommendations as to what I should do. Thanks!  - Daylight savings changes and Entourage 2004 Will there be problems once the new Daylight savings time for 2007 goes into effect, specifically if a reoccurring meeting has been scheduled and will take place sometime next March? I have heard that our Window PC admins are applying a update to client systems so that Outlook 2003 users can schedule meetings for next year and they will take place at the expected time during the month of March. (We use Exchange 2003 Servers). Does Entourage or Outlook 2001 require any patches? Do those applications use the system time and DSL information provided by the Mac OS?  - Mailbox lock error I keep getting this message from Entourage when I try to do almost anything on my IMAP account: Trying to get mailbox lock from process 97542. Mail could not be retrieved at this time. It's really annoying, and I have to wait and keep trying to get anything done.  - syncing Entourage and Gmail Does anyone know how to sync entrourage and gmail? Am I the only one in the dark here? I am able to dowload and upload emails through entourage to gmail but when I read a message online it still appears 'unread' in entourage (and vice versa). This means I have to double open all emails - seems crazy. Previously I had hotmail synced up to Entourage so that they two mirrored each other exactly. How do I do this ?  - Entourage will not open I use Macintosh Tiger, or Mac OSX 10.4.8. I use Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac. I somehow lost the icon of Entourage on the Dock while I was trying to reinstall a Quicken icon (that I trashed because it had a shadowed question mark over it). I lost the Entourage icon - it seemed like it went somewhere else, like under the Dock or inside another icon. When I would double-click the application of Entourage to open it, the Entourage icon would appear briefly like from behind the Dock but then disappear under the Dock but the program would not open. I keep the Dock on the right, moved the Dock to the bottom to see if I could find the Entourage icon underneath it but it didn't appear anywhere or come out from hiding. I then reinstalled Entourage from the original Microsoft Office disk and the Entourage icon is now appearing in the Dock. Entourage still will not open. It will just bounce as if it does when a program activates, but the program will not actually open. No matter where I try to open Entourage from, it won't operate. What to do?  - Entourage is Stuck! I am working on my wife's computer and I am not that solid when it comes to Mac. She is using Entourage for her mail. Last week it just stopped receiving messages. The little bar at the bottom seems to be stuck. I checked with our internet provider and all is fine there. Just to be safe, I cleared out all messages on the server(even though she doesn't keep messages on the server) I thought the program might be corrupted so I went out and bought Microsft Suite(which was not cheap) I re-installed and I have the same problem.  - Sent messages folder with Error 4362 When I open my sent messages folder, 3 weeks of sent messages are covered by a white pane. When I click on the pane, the sent messages appear except for the message which is at the top of this list. When I mouse over it or click it I get an error message: "The action could not be completed - An Unknown error (4362) has occurred."  - Rules in Entourage 2004 Hello, I have set up Entourage and have been using Rules to organize my e-mail into Categories. This worked up until recently, and now it is not. I get e-mails for one category set for another. Example: I have a Union category, but e-mail for that will come in a newsletter category.  - Contacts have disappeared I recently installed the Office 11.3 upgrade; now running Entourage 2004 11.2.5. Just realized that with the exception of groups and the "Me" contact, all the contacts in my Address Book have vanished. Within groups, the members are still listed, but now they are "generic" (blue dots) instead of "recognized." I've restarted Entourage and verified that the database is not corrupt.  - Connection problems to Exchange after user account changes Hi, Our IT dept started switching users from a win2000 env to an XP enviroment. They're doing it to switch to an Active directory setup. When they switch a user, they apply restrictions to his profile so that he/she can only log in to a specific workstation. When this is done to users who have both Mac and PCs, they cannot connect with Entourage 2004, or Outlook 2001 to the echange server from the Mac (OSX10.3.9). We have added the Mac's name from the Sharing preferences to the list of allowed workstations in their AD permissions. That lets them connect to SMB shares, but not the exchange server. We have also added the name of the exchange server to the list but still no go. The error message they get is that the username/password is incorrect. They can connect using OWA from Firefox to http://exchangeserver/exchange. The only solution we've found is if they don't have any restrictions on where they can log in to.  - Junk Mail Filter Malfunction I am using Entourage 11.2.5 with Mac OS 10.4.8. Until recently my Junk Email Filter was working pretty well. Then I started tinkering with the junk email settings. Now Entourage does not seem to accept my filter setting changes, and it's operating backwards of what I want. Most email goes into junk, and only one or two messages make it into my In-box.  - Entourage keeps disappearing! This is a new iMac (Intel Core 2 duo) with a new Office 2004 installed. For the second time now, on launching Entourage it shows the Set-up assistant and a brand new Entourage as if it had never been used.  - entourage screw-up I have been using entourage for e-mail for some time. I am using two computers (an I-mac and a macbook) on trying to get into entourage on the imac I got the following mesage " Entourage cannot access your data. To Attempt to fix the problem, rebuild your database. Tried that - -got a read/write error (- 40) Ended with message 'Rebuilding failed. It is likely your database cannot be repaired." So... threw entourage into trash. used the macbook as a hard drive and transfered new entourage onto imac - -went through same messages.  - Importing messages from Outlook 2003 to Entourage Can anyone please tell me how to move my email messages from Outlook 2003 to Entourage. I just purchased my new Macbook (w / Core2Duo). Here is what the Apple Help Desk said, but it doesn't work. I have archived all my Outlook 2003 email to .pst files. I have moved them to an external drive. The external drive (via USB) is readable by my Mac. Apple Help said that i was going to just be able to 'read them or move them' into an Entourage folder....hogwash...unless I'm doing something wrong. Pls advise. FYI....if Steve J wants to help 'conversions' from the 'dark side' this very, very basic stuff should be clear / simple and known by all Apple HELP desk folks. I had to talk to 3 of them before I found someone who even knew what a .pst file was.....duuuuuuuuuuh. Sorry for the cynical comments.  - View options in Address Book & Tasks I'm one of the ex-Outlook users who really misses the Address Card view, with the alphabetical tabs to find contacts or tasks. If we can't have this, what about the facility to View by Group, just like you have for mail messages, and group by (for address book) alphabet letter, category, and (for tasks) by category, due date, status. By the way, the 'status' in Tasks is really useful and having a Project Centre isn't a replacement. I used the Task Status to drive all sorts of things.  - Entourage won't save Passwords... Keychain interaction? Hi, I recently added a new account, and was advised that the sending and receiving mail servers needed to be different - however when I tried to configure the new account, I discovered that the passwords had either been changed for existing accounts, and when I then tried to re-enter passwords, nothing would be saved in any of the accounts, even when 'save password' option is checked... I think there may be a problem with the interaction with Keychain Access - but I've tried deleting Keychains etc - quitting and restarting Entourage - however every time I restart Entourage, it asks for every password for each account again - which is obviously a big time-waster... Does any1 have any ideas about the interaction between Passwords & Keychains, or do I need to re-install Entourage to get things working again?  - Entourage won't quit I am having trouble with Entourage (Office 2004) on my new MacBook. Each time I go to quit the program I have to end up doing a force quit. Another issue is that when this application is open the fan runs at high speed all the time. I have updated everything there is to update. Is anyone else having the same problem?  - Remembering window positions Entourage 2004 does not retain the window position when opening email messages or replying to messages. They always appear at the top left side of the screen.  - Entourage - View pane generates corrupt database error when certain message comes into view. In my inbox, I have an older e-mail, from May. In the viewing pane, as soon as I scroll down to this message, an error pops up saying my database may be corrupt. I have verified, and everything is fine. For kicks, I have even repaired a couple of times. And it successfully completes this task. However, WHENEVER I get to that message in the viewing pane, the error pops up. I can click Cancel and scroll away, and it will be fine. If I stay there, it will pop up a few moments later, ad nauseum. So how can I get rid of this message? I can't select it because that corrupt database error pops up. Also, the message is partially grayed out, just the top horizontal half.  - Empty Deleted Items Folder, scheduled run does not delete the items I have my schedule set to ON QUIT for the Empty Delelted Items Folder and it does not perform the function on quit.  - How can I copy message attachment history? I'm using the latest available version of Entourage as an Exchange email client. I can remove attachments to messages received through the Exchange account by copying the message to a local mail folder, then editing, then copying the message back to an Exchange account folder.  - Folder List View not remembered When I first used Entourage, after a restart it would always come back to the same screen layout that I had been using before. But for a long time now, I have to re-select Folders List in the View menu each time I start Entourage. I've tried trashing the preference file, and repairing permissions. notification sounds stopped working no matter what I do to the
preference settings. Even clicking on the speaker icon produces no test
sound.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look at this article on Apple's website

may have set your audio output settings too high.
