Slower key repeat rate than other apps?

I've set the Key Repeat Rate in System Preferences --> Keyboard and mouse to
the maximum value, but Entourage still is kind of jerky and slow when
holding down one of the arrow keys to move the text cursor around.

Anything that can be done?
I guess not... :(
But I hope! :)

I've had this problem in Entourage and Word since updating to Office
2004 almost a year ago. It seems to happen the most when Entourage is
open. It got better when I updated to Tiger, but another problem
cropped up - when the hard disk is doing it's automatic defragging
thing (or whatever is going on in OS x 10.4) Entourage locks up
completely until it finished, which can take up to 5 minutes. Sheesh!


When this happens I end up out-typing the cursor's buffer (around 30
characters) which is very distracting. Sometimes I have to go back to
Office 2001 on another computer to get things done.

Also having a problem with Excel 2004 - it considers Excel 2001 files
invalid.

I know, I know, time to call customer support. But I did that already
and their fixes were great for a couple of days, intil it started doing
it again. =20

Hmm..
That sounds quite bad. Though I haven't noticed the problem with Spotlight
causing Entourage to lock up.

Hope you find a solution that lasts!

Spent TWO HOURS on the phone with MS Office tech support today,
rebuilding the database. Seems to have fixed the problem so far...
Very impressive that they would stick with me that long to make sure it
was right.

Now I only have one problem left to solve - Excel 2004 does not
recognize Excel 2001 files, rejecting them as "invalid". Weird. 2001
runs them just fine.

Anyone know of a solution?

Add an .xls extension to them maybe.
