Processor: Power PC

I load a pdf file as an attachment to an email. The size of the file is 2.7MB but when attached to the email the size of the attachment is 3.7MB. Why did the size increase a MB. The file did have pictures included.

I can't explain the exact numbers but attaching items to mail messages
includes some overhead for encoding your entire message so that it will
travel safely between disparate E-mail servers. Not all mail servers
handle attachments the same way so Entourage and other E-mail clients
must encode those attachments using the lowest common denominator
protocols shared by most servers.

Often, simplicity is not efficiency.

Hope this helps!
