Is there any way to change the default calendar to a public exchange calendar? My main calendar is a family calendar we have hosted on an exchange server. If that is not possible, is there a way to change where new events/appointments are directed when using the toolbar icons? Tag: Signature Positioning Tag: 93481
Entourage 2008 and Complex HTML
Why is it that Outlook can forward an e-mail with complex HTML without
turning it into unreadable garbage and Entourage 2008 still can't?
Something as simple as forwarding an airline confirmation to my admin
still can't be done in Entourage 2008. I see that there are a couple
scripts that have been developed by power users to use complex HTML
from a saved file, but I really am baffled as to why a user can't
forward a message using it.
Has anyone figured out a workaround to this annoying problem?

Sync my day and entourage
Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: imap
Hi
I have two computers for my use one portable and one in my office. I have a standard commercial copy of office 2008 and cannot get my day to sync between the two computers (I only use one at a time). I have a dot mac account and the email on both seems to sync okay, but not may day. I set up the entourage automatically and have set the sync services in the entourage preferences to sync.
Also can you use alias email accounts with entourage in the same way as dot mac (i.e a drop does menu to pick with email alias you want to send your email under).
Hope this makes sense any way to do this either with dot mac or without would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Location of Custom Dictionary for Entourage 2008
I do not thing Office 2008 is recognizing my old Custom Dictionary. I
checked the Location of Microsoft files at
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/path/index.html#Custom_47857>
and it has not been updated for Office 2008
Where should the Custom Dictionary for 2008 be located?
I have a Custom Dictionary at user/Documents/Microsoft User Data
but I don't think Entourage 2008 is using this dictionary. It was
created for 2004.

Entering early 20th Century dates doesn't take...
Hi all!
I'm on a US system. (And I double-checked that my date/time/
international settings are all US).
I'm trying to clean up some small address/calendar issues. I've been
updating my relatives' birthdays, and some of them (thank goodness)
have achieved a respectable age.
Entering my grandfather's birthday in his address book card changes
the date automatically as soon as I tab out of the birthday field. The
date I'm trying to enter: 4/8/1918 switches to 4/8/1920.
If I enter a recurring event on the calendar, the date does the same
thing.
Also, even though the date then reads 4/8/1920 on the calendar entry,
trying to edit the recurrence gives me the option to have it recur
every 4/7.
If I click on the little calendar icon to graphically change the date,
even though the date in the text box reads 4/8/1920, the highlighted
date on the mini-calendar is 4/7/1920.
If I use the mini-calendar to scroll back to the correct 4/8/1918
date, everything appears to enter properly, but as soon as I click in
another area of the window--bam, back to 4/8/1920.
It may be unrelated, but the little reminder window then reminds me
that I missed the event on 4/7, even though on the main calendar
window, the event shows as happening on 4/8.
I had similar problems with several other events...particularly the
reminder window being 1 day early.
Anybody have ideas of things to check? Bugs? Problem existing between
chair and keyboard?
Thanks!

Erratic scroll wheel behavior in Entourage 2008
Has anyone else noticed erratic scroll wheel behavior in the preview window
of Entourage 2008?
I find that the scroll wheel works fine in other panes of the main Entourage
window, but when trying to scroll an html-based e-mail in the preview pane,
the scroll wheel is mostly unresponsive.
The same message will scroll just fine if opened into a standalone window.
The same behavior is shown with a Mighty Mouse, or with a Kensington mouse.
Messages without complex html seem to scroll just fine.

Calendar items entered in OWA not showing in Entourage
I have a MAC user that is having trouble with calendar events not
showing up if he uses OWA (Safari), but does if he enters them using
Entourage. From what he has explained to me is he enters items into
his calendar at home using OWA, but when he plugs into the network
here and
launches Entourage during the day those items don't show up that he
entered using OWA the night before.
As a demo of what is happening he logged on to Entourage and OWA on
his Mac. Then entered a appointment in Entourage calendar and it
showed up in OWA and Entourage even if we exits both. Then he
entered
an appointment in OWA calendar, it shows up there in OWA but will not
show in the Entourage Calendar even if he exits both. He can get
back
into OWA and the 2nd appointment will still be there.
Does anyone have an idea what to even look for as a cause?

"9) I'd like Entourage to include attachments when I forward a message to

is no preference to NOT include them!
There is a preference you can set for CC and BCC recipients to receive
attachments. When you have an attachment, click on the "Encode..." option
bar below the attachment window. At the bottom is the preference checkbox.
You might also want to check out the 'forward as attachment' command in the

help pages. I want to reduce the size my Entourage data file. I have
messages (many more than 300 from the first time I logged in)
"3) How do I empty the cache on my newsgroup? I need to reduce the size of
my database.
Control-click the icon of the news server (e.g. Microsoft News Server) in
the Folder List at the left, and select Empty Cache from the contextual menu
that pops up. That deletes all the downloaded news messages from every news
group of that server, all in on go.
If you want copies of some messages preserved, drag a copy to a regular
Entourage folder before you empty the cache. Otherwise, if the message is
gone from the server, it will be permanently deleted."
I do not get the contextual menu discussed above. Tag: Signature Positioning Tag: 93366

Double-clicking on a calendar event in Month view will not open it
I cannot open a calendar event by double-clicking it! In Office 2004
(Entourage 11) I could double-click on any event (in Month view) and that
event would open. For some reason, in Office 2008 (Entourage 12.0.1) this
feature worked for about one day and then quit. Now the only way I can open
an existing event in Month view (or any other view for that matter) is by
clicking on it and then going to File > Open Event (or Control O). I know
that I can click on that incredibly skinny band in Week or Day view to open
an event, but that band is not there in Month view, and besides, even in
Week or Day view that band is really narrow and difficult to hit. The
annoying thing is that double-clicking on a calendar event WOULD open it
during the first day after I installed Office 2008, but then it quit.

Those are the only entries relating to the Exchange server. If I do the

Entourage 2004 appointments for user are showing up 1 hour ahead
Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: Exchange
Good afternoon,
This morning a calendar I was viewing of a user was working fine. I went through and showed him how to connect up to a shared folder on a server here in the office and it moved everything ahead in the calendar 1 hour.
Noone else of the 30 other Mac laptops is having this issue.
I checked Time and Date for Time Zone information.
He was set to Austin, TX as the location but I changed him to Minneapolis and rebooted and that didn't fix it.
Then I changed the location from Chicago to Minneapolis in the Time Zone area.
Rebooted again.
Nothing changed. All appointments in his calendar are still an hour ahead. Both before today and those coming.
I looked on his Phone, the time zone was set to use Chicago.
When he changed that to Minneapolis, the appointment we had opened was set for 7 AM before selecting Minneapolis, but after it changed to 8AM.
I set his working hours in Entourage from 9-5 to 8-5
Rebooted again. Still no go.
I applied the latest Office 2004 update as it came up on a reboot to check Microsoft AutoUpdate for updates.
Once applied and restarted the issue still exists. Tag: Signature Positioning Tag: 93313
Hold Mail script for Entourage 2008
I wrote a script to do two things:
1) Disable and enable receiving mail in Entourage.
2) Let me know at a glance if receiving email is enabled or disabled, even
when Entourage is hidden. This is done in the dock, where I look for new
mail and where I check to see if Entourage is running.
Here is the script I worked up.
(*
Hold Mail - stop and start checking mail with Entourage
*)
on run
tell application "Microsoft Entourage"
if working offline is false then
set working offline to "true"
tell application "System Events" to set visible of process
"Microsoft Entourage" to false
end if
end tell
end run
on quit
tell application "Microsoft Entourage"
if working offline is true then
set working offline to "false"
tell application "System Events" to set frontmost of process
"Microsoft Entourage" to true
if name of schedule "receive" exists then
execute schedule "receive"
end if
continue quit
end if
end tell
end quit
Save it as an Application Bundle called "Hold Mail" that stays open and has
no startup screen. Put a nice icon on it and put it in your dock next to
Entourage.
Start up the "Hold Mail" app to go offline and hide Entourage. Quit the
"Hold Mail" app to go online, unhide Entourage, and check mail.
If the Hold Mail icon in the dock is running, your email is "on hold." If it
is not running (and Entourage is running) then mail is getting through.
Note: You must name your Entourage schedule for checking mail "receive" to
get your mail checked as soon as you quit Hold Mail. Otherwise your mail
will be checked on your regular schedule.
I am giving this script away here. Perhaps someone will adopt it, polish it
up, and publish it on the MVP site or scriptbuilders site. That's fine with
me. If you want to give me some credit, the name Bruce McL will do.
I wrote this because I like to start and stop email delivery many times
during the day for several different reasons. Sometimes I want to
concentrate on computer work, sometimes I'm leaving for a while and I want
new email to show up on my mobile phone.
Starting up Entourage 2008 takes a long time, and I am tired of looking at
the splash screen. Anybody know why Entourage *needs* a splash screen? I
already bought it, why should I have to sit through a commercial every time
I launch it? Oh well, another rant for another day.
Things that can be improved:
- Make an icon that changes color when the app starts up and changes back
when the app quits. I believe an AppleScript app could rename a couple of
.icns files inside it's own application bundle, but I haven't put time into
that.
- Better error checking.
- More flexible procedure for immediately checking email on quit.
- Write a helper script to invoke this from Entourage with a key command.
Command-Option-K perhaps?
What Microsoft could do to improve Entourage in this regard:
- Make an overlay for the Entourage dock icon, perhaps an envelope inside a
red circle with slash, that shows up when Entourage is offline. This would
be a big help when clients accidentally go offline, then call me up and say,
"My email is broken." If they could see a funny looking symbol on their
Entourage dock icon that would identify the problem. Tag: Signature Positioning Tag: 93312

I imported my address book in Entourage. In using this addresbook the middlename of a person is not visible in the address view.
For instance
name of a contactperson:
Martin de Man (first name, middle name, last name)
In Entourage the address book reads Martin Man. Also in creating a new message entourage sends a message to Martin Man.
In the standard addressbook and Mail of my Mcbook the view is correct: Martin de Man
Apparently in Entourage name = first name + last name. How can I recalculate name, consisting of first name + middlename + last name?

Sent mail creates a duplicate for every mail I send

Every email I send, registers once immediately, then a second time, I think when the auto send receive happens (not sure if that's why). Anyway - it happens in all my mailboxes - Entourage, AOL, and on my Blackberry. All have two versions of every sent email - oddly - the size on each is different. web calendar entries don't appear in Entourage
Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: Exchange
We recently updated our Exchange server (Exchange 2007) and I'm using Entourage 2004 version 11.4. Since this update occurred whenever I make an entry via the web interface to my calendar the new events will not show up in Entourage. Any events I place in the calendar in Entourage do show up in the web interface so this is a one way issue only. Does anyone have any ideas? Tag: Signature Positioning Tag: 93286

I am using Entourage 2008 and managing some of my appointments in Outlook 2007. It appears that all day calendar events created in Outlook 2007 show up one day early in my Entourage calendar. I checked my OWA and the appointments seem to me fine. Also, the time zones are both set to the Eastern time zone. Any help here? Tag: Signature Positioning Tag: 93284

I have used Outlook for windows for years, Entourage is very new to me. In outlook you can set up personal folders and multiple e-mails address. Is the personal folders option available in Entourage? Also when I set up other e-mail accounts, is there a way to set the Exchange account as the primary location for e-mail?

We can see the contacts folder however when you click on it nothing is in the folder. Any help would be appreciated.

When using signature in entourage, when replying to a mail, the signature will start hiding all the way down in the bottom of the mail. How can I keep it linked to the actual message in the top ? Tag: Signature Positioning Tag: 93277
Overly sized fonts not related to pixels vs. pts
Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: Exchange
I've noticed another font issue where fonts are oversized when viewed on certain clients. I've seen this on my company's "Outlook Webaccess" and Evolution.
I think a buddy of mine might have figured it out. When I view one of my emails in Outlook WebAccess, then click "View as Web Page", then view the source of that I get:
<BASE href="https://mail.company.com/exchange/foo/Inbox/Test.EML/ <https://mail.company.com/exchange/foo/Inbox/Test.EML/>" />
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Test</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<FONT SIZE="5"><FONT FACE="Arial"><SPAN STYLE='font-size:10pt'>This is a test in Arial/10.</SPAN></FONT></FONT>
</BODY>
</HTML>
Note the "FONT SIZE="5". If I remove "<SPAN STYLE='font-size:10pt'>" it is EXACTLY what I see via Outlook WebAccess. If I remove "FONT SIZE="5" it is exactly what I see in Entourage. Could it be that some clients choose to use The "FONT SIZE" statement and then ignore the "SPAN STYLE" statement?
Is there any way I can not have "FONT_SIZE=5" show up? Tag: Signature Positioning Tag: 93275
I know how to set up a Signature. But I want it to be inserted in a "reply"
above the original message, not below it. How can I get this to work?
Thanks.
