Sent emails don't get into "Sent" folder

All my preferences seem in order, but I'm not getting a record of emails sent posted to my "Sent" folder. I've got version 12.0.0 on a Leopard. Thanks very much. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Just to follow up.........I'm discovering that emails I send are being posted within my inbox, and NOT the "Sent items" folder. For some reason I'm getting copies of emails I send directly back to myself, rather than in the "Sent items" folder. This is quite annoying. Thanks for any help.

Check your Rules and Mailing List Manager, both in the Tools menu.
Especially Outgoing Rules.

Thanks.......did that and my "Sent" folder is not listed. All my other folders are listed as possible designated places for "sent" email, but NOT the Sent Folder itself. Now what? Thanks.

Actually I was telling you to check that folder to see if there is a rule
that is incorrectly moving messages somewhere other than your Sent Items
folder.

What kind of account is this? IMAP accounts have a space in the account
setup where you establish where sent messages should be stored.

It's a POP account. When you go to "rules," there's just accounts listed there (I have 2 email accounts). No folders. The folders option appears when you open "rules." But the Sent Folder isn't there. Thanks for the continued help.
