In the accounts settings dialog, there are options to use SSL under
?advanced sending options¹ & ?advanced receiving options¹

Hi I go to these advance options and when I click on the use secure SSL all
is good but the check box under it when it ads that special number after you
select it makes me think all is well. Whenever I go back the box is not
checked anymore. Is there a way to make the second box for advanced options
in the send and receive (the one that pops up the number) stay on. I think
this is my issue. My old sympatico account is fine but I just cant get my
new one to work.
And thank for the help so far. Any ideas or suggestions are good.

I too am using Sympatico's new secure server, operated jointly with MSN.

I have no problem making the checkboxes stay checked. Perhaps you should
run Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.

My experience is that I can receive via SSL with no problem, but I
cannot send to the secure smtphm server. If I select the secure server
but not authentication, I get an error message that authentication is
required. If I select authentication I get a message that Entourage does
not support any authentication method available from the server.

I spent over an hour on the phone yesterday and today with Sympatico's
second level tech support, and their final suggestion was to go back to
the old insecure server to send mail.

It is most ironic that Microsoft Entourage cannot connect to an MSN
secure server. No matter whether the glitch is at the client end or the
server end, surely they should be able to get their act together.
