 - Entourage 2008 crashes when I quit Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Hi everyone, I have had the same problem for 2 days now. I use Entourage to connect to a Hosted Exchange 2007 server, as well as check 3 IMAPS email accounts and 5 POP accounts. Whenever I want to quit, there is a message asking to confirm because "a network operation is in progress". When I check the Progress bar, nothing seems to be hapenning at the moment. If I confirm that I want to quit, then Entourage crashes 50% of the time. I have rebuilt my database but this hasn't fixed the problem... Second problem: messages with accented characters in the subject (as well as calendar events with accented characters) aren't sync'ed from my Exchange server. Any help would be greatly appreciated!  - My Day Problems Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel I have 2 MY DAY problems which I'd really like fixed permanently. 1 -- it takes up too much memory, and since I edit film, I'd like to keep my memory for other chores. But I can't seem to get rid of it. I've attempted lots of things and just found another approach, I will try later, in this forum. In the past I thought it was gone, only to find out it just put itself back into my system with the next morning's boot. But it would be since to configure it so it doesn't use so much memory. 2 -- This was strange and eliminating MY DAY fixed the problem. The dreadful white screen when using FIREFOX and attempting to load HOTMAIL. Yup! White -- Nothing else. The address is correct, done appears in the lower left corner -- but there's just a white screen. Turned out that eliminating MY DAY enabled the full screen download. Also, I'd noticed before this, that when I used FIREFOX to download, the little popup that loads letting you know the download status too was blank -- the box is there, but it was empty. This was annoying, but I didn't fuss about anything, until I found I couldn't access hotmail. This is a problem I'd like fixed because I like having the calendar on my desktop, and it's style is actually pretty sweet. Anyway, if anyone has thoughts on fixing this issue, without having to get rid of the program-ette, I'd like to know. Can't find any obvious settings.  - Exchange 2007 Voicemail Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange As a brand new MBP user with Office 2008 I am looking at moving from Outlook 2007 to Entourage. Our company used Exchange 2007 with UM so all voicemails come into our Inbox. It works good in Outlook, however I am not able to play the files on my MAC from Entourage. I have installed the WMA.WMV drivers from Microsoft for Quicktime, however when I click on the WMA attachment it opens Quicktime but will not play the file. What am I missing? I have searched quite a bit for anything on the Exchange 2007 UM support in Entrouage but I have not found anything. Any advice on how I can play my voicemails in Entrouage 2008? Thank you!  - Copying calendar I am running Entourage 2004 on my MB Pro. For the last several years I have used it to communicate with others at my university via an Exchange-based system. I have also used it to receive email from other accounts, e.g., gmail. I have left the university and no longer use the Exchange based system. I changed my default email to gmail and, in the process, my address book and calendar now default to new databases that are not university-related. That's fine, but the problem is that I don't want to lose the calendar or address book I created when the Exchange based system was the default. How do I copy or otherwise move that calendar and address book to the calendar which now comes up by default, or do I have to manually reenter everything? Exporting doesn't seem to do it. Thanks.  - Zip file attachments unreadable on Windows machines Using Entourage, I sent a .zip file containing a Word document, several JPEG files and a PDF file to several Windows users. All were able to unzip the file, however none was able to see anything other than the PDF. In Entourage preferences, I specified the file was to be encoded for Windows and file extensions appended. (In fact, I also tested this by sending the same file encoded for all computers (AppleDouble) and without file extensions appended. Still no dice. I've reverted to sending just the regular Word, JPEG and PDF files and those open fine on the Windows machines. I just wanted to use the .zip file to consolidate about 20 individual files into one. Some of these users would have permission to view and change calendar and contacts on their boss' mailbox from their own profile using Entourage. In Ent. 2004, there were numerous issues with sync errors and permissions, so much so, that we set the users up with Parallels and Outlook.  - How do I make the Edit icon active in Entourage 2004? I found a helpful hint from Roger Cohen who suggested using the "Edit " icon located in the menu bar of an open email. Wouldn't you know it is the only inactive icon on the bar. New meetings are fine, but if a delegate (editor access) moves a meeting as my delegate using Outlook 2003, then it seems to disappear on Entourage 2008 (though the moved meeting shows up correctly on my iPhone and BlackBerry and in OWA. So evidently there=92s something wrong with the Entourage interface Multiple users all using Entourage 2008 and their admin assistants or delegates with editor access are using Outlook 2003 have the same issue. There is nothing wrong with the local Entourage database file. I emptied the cache on the calendar to force it to rebuild the calendar, all the past calendar and current calendar events that were missing appeared suddenly. But this does not solve the underlying problem. This particular account is on Exchange 2007, the delegate is on Exchange 2007. My account had the same issue yesterday while trying to duplicate the issue. So far only once was I able to recreate the problem.  - Entourage can't search for saved emails prior to 10.5 upgrade Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: imap I hope this makes sense. I have a new iMac that is now running 10.5.1. Just did the upgrade from 10.4.11 this past weekend. Office 08 was installed a few months prior to the upgrade. I was able to search for many saved and older emails and have no problems finding them and opening them. Only since Monday (after the upgrade on Sat) can I not search for certain emails. Even some received the week prior to the upgrade. I had been using Office 04 prior to that. I know that every thing should be on the mail server if using IMAP. Could this be just a coincidence that something happened on the server and that is why I cannot find email i know were there just before the upgrade? I have complete backups of the iMac before and after the upgrade. I was able to locate a number of cashed emails that are only in text. Can those be re imported? Presently I'm using a Sony Ericsson M600i with Symbian. According to them, there is no way of getting the synchronization. Please suggest me the best PDA+Mobile phone (2in1) to use together with my Mac in Portugal (Nokia, Samsung, Blackberry, HTC, Sony-Ericsson, Motorola, Alcatel...).  - Reading msg emails in Entourage 2008 Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel I have a problem with reading old emails in Entourage 2008. When I converted from a PC to a MAC, I brought over a number of Outlook emails stored in various folders. These are all .msg files. These wouldn't open in Entourage 2004 but there was a work-around which involved changing the suffix of the files to .eml and then opening it in Entourage 2004. Although the resultant file was a bit messy, I could at least read the original email text. However I have now converted to Entourage 2008 and this work-around no longer seems to work. I archived and installed when upgrading from Panther. I have two questions please. 1) I am unable to rebuild my database since upgrading to Leopard, inevitably there will be a price to pay for this in the future when it all grinds to a halt and nowhere to go. Can this be fixed. 2) I have some old e mail addresses which still appear in the new mail window when I type a persons name. We decided to upgrade from Entourage 2004 to 2008. I tried a couple test emails after the installation, and everything seemed to work. Now suddenly ever since yesterday morning I can no longer send emails. (receiving is still working great) There is no error message. It shows that it was sent, however no one I send to has received anything. I have tried playing around with the SMTP, and have tried deleting the pop address and re adding it but no luck. any help would be greatly appreciated.  - Read and Deleted Emails are Going to Trash and Becoming "UnRead" Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: imap I read an email. I delete the email. The email goes to my trash. Within a minute or two my Trash folder with become BOLD and claim it has one message not read. I click on the folder and it claims that the message I JUST deleted was never read. This happens no matter if I open the email or just preview the email. There were times where I'll open and email and read it for a few minutes, leaving it open for a while. Once I delete it the trash always claims that it hasn't been read. What's up with this?  - Receive, but can't send email Version: v.X Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC Email Client: pop Usually I can figure out these error messages through google, etc., but I'm not getting anywhere with this one. I can receive, but can't send, emails. Get Error: 5530. Also says "5.7.0 Authentication required" and the error say "The SMTP server for "name" does not recognize any of the authentication methods supported by Entourage. To send mail, try disabling SMTP authentication in the account settings or talk to your administrator." Nothing has changed in my system, but suddenly can't send. Account details match my wife's computer and she CAN send/receive. I've toggled the authentication (with restarts) to try to reset. Restarted Entourage and the computer many times, etc. Where I think the problem might be is that the last email I sent was photos sent from email button in iPhoto. I've poked around in the menus but can't find what that action might have tripped. Also, get the same kind of message now from my .mac account. Any thoughts to cure this are much appreciated.  - Entourage 2008 and Exchange global address book Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange I wasn't able to access our hosted Global Address book using Entourage 2004. Has this changed with 2008 ? The reason given by my hosting company for problems with 2004 and Exchange are shown below: LDAP connectivity is required for Entourage clients to achieve the "Address Book" and "Global Address List" functionality of Managed Exchange in Entourage. However, due to the large security risks, we do not expose LDAP connectivity to the outside world. While this feature is compatible with Outlook 2003, regretfully it is not available via Entourage. To clarify, Outlook uses the MAPI protocol to access mail and address book information, Entourage uses the WebDAV and LDAP protocols to achieve this same functionality.  - Error log making me crazy Is there anyway to turn off the error log in 2008? It's a huge downgrade from the previous version. If my server is down or running slow, an error is generated for each event and each account. This creates a big log of the same thing and I don't need to see them. Just now, I moved a number of old email messages from "inbox" to a folder "2007" on Exchange. Since moving earlier messages while connected caused Entourage to stall completely, I did this while disconnected. I then reconnected so that the synchronization would ensure that the right things happened on the Exchange side. Entourage is completely stalled. From the Activity Monitor, it appears that Entourage is repeatedly reading a very large file, which I assume to be the database file. Is it possible that it is reading the ENTIRE database for EACH message as it updates/resynchronizes? In any case, is there any way to work around this behavior?  - HTML rendering in Entourage - resized images and extracted links Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange We send different HTML messages within our company (generated from our intranet) that look just fine in Outlook 2003 on PCs, but look horrible in Entourage 2008: images are resized (squeezed to be smaller than they should) and hyperlinks are shown as full URLs AFTER the text that was supposed to be a clickable link. This doesn't happen with all HTML messages that come from outside our company (third-party newsletters, for example), so I thought maybe it has something to do with how our internal HTML e-mails are constructed... Our internal mailings are sent as multipart/related messages with all the images embedded within the message. The <img> links refer to "cid:" identifiers rather than "http:" URLs. But if I add a single image tag that refers to a URL (e.g., <http://oursite.com/spacer.gif)> then Entourage behaves better and shows the other CID images as expected and doesn't mess with the hyperlinks. Just thought I'd mention this in case somebody else has problems with multipart/related messages and rendering in Entourage. I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug... But there is no reason, really I can't just copy the Main Identity only? correct?

Correct, but it must be in a Microsoft User Data folder in your Documents
folder.
