Hi:

I have a minor yet nagging problem I¹d love help with. I have a 23² screen,
and because it¹s big tend to increase the font size for viewing email in
Entourage to 18. Problem is that when I send mail to people it shows up
really big on their typically smaller screens. Does anyone know of a way to
set up a rule, or if there is an Applescript, that will allow me to decrease
the font size on mail sent from a particular email address?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Guy

First, let's go over font preferences in Entourage.

Fonts can be set for plain text and HTML. The settings for plain text only
affect what YOU see and not what the sender receives. The receiver will see
the messages with THEIR preferences. When setting plain text, choose what
you like. This is a great feature, especially if you like larger fonts for
easy viewing. However, the font and size you choose for "HTML messages
(proportional)" do reflect the default font for outgoing HTML mail and is
what the recipient will see.

HTML font size can sometimes be misinterpreted when sent from a Mac to PC.
This has been improved with the latest updates to Office X and 2004, but can
still cause problems. This is why plain text is preferred.

Now that you understand the basics you might choose to send plain text
messages. Note I changed my reply to plain text because the font was so
large in HTML.

See the faqs on setting font sizes.

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/fonts.html#font3>

There are some examples of rules to make fonts larger when you RECEIVE mail
from pc users that are teeny tiny.

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/example/rule010.html>

None of the Rule actions have make smaller. I'm not sure if this is possible
with AppleScript.

Hope this helps.

The Rules in Entourage only have "increase" but not decrease text size.
I'm not an Applescript expert but when I search Entourage's dictionary
for "font", "increase" or "decrease" I find nothing. When I search for
"text", "size" or any other variations I'm not finding anything that is
usable. :(

Be sure to use Entourage's Help --> Send Feedback menu item to request
more scriptability for Entourage and all Office applications. Be sure to
include details of what you're needing to accomplish.
