Does any one know if Entourage 2004¹s Date & Time stamps can be made more
detailed when the Preview Pane is on the right? For example, all my messages
from lat month (for example) just have the date on them, but no time stamp.
When the Preview pane is on the bottom, the message list displays the time
for older messages, and Outlook has this ability (albeit somewhat hidden).
It¹s very confusing when I have 20 messages from the same person on a
particular day without knowing what time they were received.

I am running Office 2004 with the latest service pack, OS X 10.4.3, on a G4
with 2 Gb RAM.

Hi Scott,

sorry, no, that can't be done at the moment. There are a number of ways to
get that info, however:

*double-clicking a message will open it in a separate window which includes
all the date information you're looking for.

*you could also use View>Source when selecting a message, but that's not
really convenient.

*as I suppose you know already, the traditional preview pane below the
message list will allow you to see the date and time.

No, it's one of many compromises that were made to save space in Preview
Pane At Right (3-column) view. If it matters a lot to you, you'd need to
switch to Preview Pane Below view. I'm sure that Entourage did get the
At-Right idea from Outlook, but didn't also bring over all the various
options. There are far more options in Outlook than in Entourage - although
Entourage is more user-friendly (which is occasionally part of the same
thing).

Believe me, Paul, I wouldn't WANT Entourage to have the myriad of
options Outlook has, mostly because...who really needs that kind of
control in how their Inbox looks?? LOL

But I think having a proper date/time stamp isn't over-complicating
things or that it would have been a compromise.

I can sympathise, but...

If MS asked 1,000 people which were the most important features to bring
over, they would probably get 800 different answers. It's like the arguments
against a 'Lite' version of Word. Yes we all know that 90% of word users
never use more than 5% of the commands available, the trouble is that
everybody uses a different 5%....

So, the developers had to make some compromises. By definition, 'compromise'
means they have a solution that isn't perfect for anyone, it's just the one
that they think upsets the least number of people.
