 - Entourage 2004 backup Is it possible to back up all the data in Entourage 2004 except emails ? I work off an IMAP store so this would reduce the size of my backup file considerably.  - Entourage 2004 sorts in reverse My folders are set to sort with most recent on the top. However, while Ent.2004 does display "Today" at the top, followed by "Yesterday", etc (after clicking on the folder).... within each "day category", the messages are sorted with the *oldest* at the top! This has created confusion for me when looking for all messages coming after a particular one. Anyone else seen this problem? Thanks, Scott Henning P.S.  - Entourage autocomplete not working with Active Directory central address book I have a user who is running the current version of Entourage that connects to an exchange server. I can get her connected to the central address book by setting up directory services. If you go to "Tools->Directory Services" and do a search, it properly finds people in our central address book of Active Directory. But if she creates a new email and types in the first few letters of someone's name, the autocomplete feature only shows possible matches in her personal address book.  - Entourage messages fragmented... mess up Exchange Entourage 2004 and Exchange 2000 I have an odd problem. If one of my Mac users sends and email to a PC user (using Outlook 98, 2000, XP, or 2003), the email text in the body is gone and replaced with fragments of the mime header. In most cases those emails cannot be opened by the Outlook client. The Outlook Web Access client can open them (the body text remains fragments of mime header). However, if they email another Entourage user, the emails are fine. The problem is that with these bad emails (and even after completely removing them) my Information Store is now considered a 'corrupt file' by Backup Exec (v9.1). I paid the $245 to talk to MS about this... Money NOT well spent. They want me to keep sending emails to Outlook clients and then forwarding them the results. I'm not too excited about further damaging the Information Store so that I can take the server down to run esutil on it (thereby losing data as well) again. Anyone run into this or have a solution? From the looks of this forum, Entourage seems to be a lousy product. Other than running Outlook in classic mode on OS X, are there any other Exchange clients for the Mac I may be unaware of?  - Printing problems in Entourage I am having problems printing e-mail messages from Entourage - everything prints very small - almost impossible to read. I have reinstalled the printer drivers, deleted printer and entourage preferences, reinstalled entourage - all with no luck. This has happened to me previously on a PB G3, used in different locations with separate printer drivers for each location and using OS X 10.2 and Entourage v.X - one printer would print small but the others were fine. Not long after this problem appeared on the G3, I upgraded to a G4 powerbook, running OS X 10.3 (now 10.3.5) and Entourage 2004. For some reason the problem recently re-appeared and I have no idea why. I have scanned newsgroups, knowledge bases and FAQ sites with no result - I assume this is not a common problem.  - Junk Mail Training How can you train the Ent 2004 Junk Mail Filer to recognize junk mail. I have mine set to HIGH but most junk mail still winds up in my Inbox. I move them to the Junk E-mail then to the Deleted Items. I tried clearing the cache but that did not really help. Any suggestions on training the JMF will be appreciated.  - Append reply at end of message I'm running Entourage X 10.1.4 When replying to a message, the cursor is placed at the end of the message, not the start. Every time I reply to a message I have to move the cursor to the top before adding new text. I can't find any options for changing the default cursor position. This problem has only recently started.  - Entourage Sync deletes new Palm Calendar appointments If I enter a new appointment in the Palm calendar then hotsync to Entourage, the appointment is correctly added to the Entourage calendar but deleted from the Palm calendar. The other way works fine; appointments created in Entourage are synced to the Palm. I didn't have this problem until I moved to the Treo 600. It occurs both with Entourage 2004 and Entourage X. I use the following work-around: Add an appointment to the Treo calendar. Hotsync. Modify the appointment in Entourage in some trivial way (like add a space to it), then hotsync again. The "modified" appointment is now in both calendars. I have the latest firmware for the Treo, and the latest conduit from the 2004 CD. The calendar is palmOne Calendar v. 5.2H.  - Format challenges Entourage X HTML format and Windows Here's one for you: I recently changed my default message format for Entourage X to HTML so I could more easily use hyperlinks and font formatting tools. However, I have noticed when somebody with a Windows machine responds to me with my original text displayed in their message, some strange formatting changes occur. Specifically, apostrophes turn into commas; open parentheses turn into ? ; close parentheses turn into ? , etc.. How odd is this? It makes me look like a buffoon who doesn't know the difference between a comma and an apostrophe. Any ideas why this would occur, and is there a way to stop this?  - Time zones Is there a way for the event I set to show up at the time I put it in?? Say I put in an appt in Australia for 5pm and then an appt for New York a few days after for 5 pm. I would like my calendar to ALWAYS show the appts at 5pm and not try to convert the times. I know where I am and will be in the world and don't need the machines help.  - How to make a template project? I have Office 2004. I created a "template project" (listed all of the tasks that I typically need for every project.) Then I created a new project (#1) and imported the tasks from my template project. I inserted the due dates and notes for each task that was needed for that particular project. But... AAARGH!! All of the tasks in my template project then had the same due dates as (#1) -- so when I wanted to insert the information for a new project (#2) I then changed the dates for #1 and for the template. Yikes. Obviously this is not the way to do it! Is there any way to make a template project so that I do not have to re-enter (and remember) what all of the tasks are for every single project I have?  - Sort by thread? I recently set up some NGs on Entourage. When I first look at the NG, the first column contains a little gray triangle on some messages. When I click this, it sorts the messages by thread. This column does not have a heading, and it does not appear as a column formatting choice.  - Entourage 2004 and SMTP over SSL? Greetings. Ever since I upgraded from Entourage X to 2004, I've been unable to send = mail through my university's authenticated, SSL-using SMTP server.=20 Entourage just waits and waits, and finally gives up with the error "An=20 operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, = or=20 there may be too much net traffic." I've verified all my server settings = and=20 even recreated the entire account. It used to work with 2004, it works = with=20 my housemate's Apple Mail client, and it works with 2004 from my office = on=20 campus (where I can use a non-authenticated, non-SSL SMTP server) -- all = quite quickly, with no long delay. Entourage 2004 also sends just fine=20 through my other email account, which uses authenticated SMTP *without*=20 SSL.  - E-mail message flies to dock This has now happened to two of my colleagues, one of whom stopped using Entourage for this reason. They would view their message headings without the Preview pane. Occasionally when they click on a message to view it, it opens but then immediately disappears, leaving an icon for the message file in the dock. I don't necessarily know the year someone was born, nor is it any of my business. How do I format the birthday so that I do not have to have a year included.  - "There is no such disk" error on launch. OK, this makes the third time I have tried to post this, but this time=20 from I.E. Apparently something about the MSFT support site doesn't=20 like to play well with Safari. Great. Anyway... I just got Office 2004 and installed it, and when I try to launch=20 Entourage I get the following error dialog: "An error occurred. There is no such disk." Say what? It's almost as if I were trying to launch an alias to a = volume=20 that doesn't exist, but this happens from launching the main=20 application executables too. What gives? I do have a very old copy of Office on this machine... I think Office=20 2001? I can't even remember. I have uninstalled & reinstalled and have = tried both the install wizard and the drag copy install, same results. =20 Entourage is the component of Office I use the most, so this is a really = big deal for me. After installing entourage 2004 all the subfolder where I'm storing = the=20 incoming mails has not been imported correctly also if they are = correctly=20 synchronized.  - Public Folders Well, after testing Entourage 2004 with my first user, it seemed that Microsoft finally had Entourage working well with our Exchange server. I would finally be able to migrate users from Outlook 2001. Then, the user tried to access his public calendar that is maintained by his secretary. NOTHING! Is it possible for Entourage to integrate in with both public and personal calendars? Everything else was working as it needed to be.  - New to Mac world - can't figure out... Hey there. Just bought a power book - and am in the middle of transferring my stuff over from my PC. I am very familiar with the using Outlook Express as my newsreader - and really liked the following feature: When I downloaded messages from a newsgroup - then deleted them - the next timed I went to the newsgroup - it it would only download the new messages since my last visit. Every time I clean out the particular newsgroup messages on my Mac - and go back to that particular newsgroup later - I get all the messages again... How do I control this?  - Function of Project Center Contacts (Entourage 2004) While I recognize that the main idea of the Contacts tabs with the Project Center is to create a shareable list of contact data for members of a particular project, what I'd really like to be able to do is a) create rules based on that list and 2) to send e-mail messages to that list, neither of which I can see a way to do without separately creating and maintaining a Group.  - Chinese/Japanese characters between Entourage and handheld Does anyone have an idea of how to sync Chinese (or Japanese) characters used in contacts/calendar on Entourage with a Palm-based handheld? I use a Treo 600 with Entourage X. The mac has Chinese language fonts installed, and I often insert Chinese characters into message/tasks/contacts, though most are in English. This has worked fine. I also used Chinese on my Treo 600 (CJK-OS). That also works fine. However, when I sync my Entourage data to my treo (palm hotsync with Entourage conduit), the Chinese data on Entourage shows up as just ??? on the handheld. Likewise, when I type Chinese data on the handheld and sync with Entourage, the data shows up as unreadable gibberish in Entourage. Moreover, if I so much as open a contact that has Chinese characters on the handheld, all the Chinese characters turn to gibberish the next time I sync with Entourage. What seems to be happening is that the two systems are not mutually compatible, or that the unicode is lost in the syncing process. Can anyone recommend any fixes? Hello,
If there are users of the remote desktop clients for Mac and linux clients,
the following problem has come to our attention. For users of these clients
the time is set to GMT when logging into the remote desktop. The sysadmin
has set it to Central Daylight time but for Mac and Linux clients continue
to see the GMT when logging in. This affects calendar invitations etc. The
only kludge solution is for the user to log in, change the time to CDT for
example, then opening up outlook doing the calendaring and invitation. The
important point is the order where change the time first and then open
outlook for the correct time to be propagated when invites are sent out.

Has anybody else seen this problem or is aware of any fixes? The version in
question is 1.0.2 and I don't see any updates in the web-site.
