 - Forced (unwanted) IMAP transfers to local inbox Entourage 2004 forcibly moves any incoming mail (or, worse yet, mail from a pre-existing mailbox which is being cached on my Mac for the first time) to the local Inbox (under "Folders on My Computer"). This essentially defeats the purpose of IMAP (having server-resident folders) and requires me to manually drag message from my local inbox into the appropriate folder(s) on my IMAP servers. I cannot find a setting anywhere to change this behavior, either in Preferences or in editing the account settings.  - tasks show up everyday does anyone else have this problem????? setting a task whether Once Only or Recurring shows up every single day on the task pad....even all days preceeding. the task pad is worthless and you have to configure a view to see what your schedule is for any specific day. Is this a glitch or does Microsoft think it is ok to have to look at my entire scheduled task database of about 420 items everyday on my taskpad????  - Sent Mail Saved Only Intermittently I am having a problem which seems to have been reported by other users, especially here: http://tinyurl.com/59hak Specifically, my sent mail seems to disappear, usually immediately upon sending it. However, the twist in my case is that some of it is saved, but the majority appears not to be saved. This is aggravating, and is beginning to affect my work performance because I rely on previously sent e-mails to a great extent. I finally decided to ask for help because today I clicked into my sent mail folder to retrieve a message I had sent only minutes before, and saw the message for a split second before it disappeared before my eyes. Searches through all of my folders for the message turned up nothing. Needless to say, I was slightly irked. I am using the company's IMAP setup, I have no rules for outgoing mail, and there are no schedules set which delete anything except deleted items. Also, my settings are properly configured to show all messages, and I definitely have the box checked to save all outgoing mail. I am extremely perplexed by this, and would appreciate any help.  - entourage's max 4GB database hi i recently maxed out my database file, and entourage asked me to rebuild my database before i could open entourage. it was not ever clear to me that there was a maximum size for this file, so it came to be quite unexpectedly! i'll tell you entourage is not very clear that this would be an issue. now i ran the rebuild, and it compacted to 2.2GB and my mailboxes opened fine, but i lost about 1 week's worth of mail! is there anything i can do to try to find this missing mail? i have rebuilt the same 4GB database again 2x, once again typical, once advanced and still i do not get the missing week's worth of mail. is it really gone?! is there anything else i can do to crack open this database file? somewhere i can send this file to in order to see if it has somewhere the missing mail? any help is much apreciated! thanks, cs2i Tag: Recurring calendar events off by one day Tag: 50350

 - Sent messages vanish after "can't save sent message" error I am still having problems with my Sent emails, as many others on the list are also having. If I send messages, sometimes I get an error that the sent message couldn¹t be added to my IMAP mailbox, and that Entourage X will send it to the local folder instead. However, no such thing happens. Is there any way to recover the sent message? I want to keep all my sent messages since receipts don't work well any more. What mailbox is Entourage trying to save the messages to? It doesn't seem to be anywhere in the "On My Computer" mailbox The sent emails seem to have just vanished. And I made sure I didn¹t have ³flagged only² or ³unread only² checked. Did the messages simply not get saved anywhere? I made a custom view to show just ³sent today² messages, but the missing sent copy didn¹t show up.  - Entourage times out no matter what Entourage has been working fine for me for several months and all of a sudden it stopped sending or recieving my mail. I can't think of any settings I've changed, but just in case I trashed my prefs files and created a new account. Still no go. I simply get a type 111 error on all my e-mail accounts (a pop mailserver on my LAN, as well as an external pop account and an external imap account.) Just on a hunch I fired up Apple Mail and tried to connect. No probs, so I downloaded TCPflow to see what kind of net traffic I was generating, and I got a big nothing.  - Entourage Right-Justified Text Boxes Here's an odd Entourage behavior that has me baffled. I'm hoping that one of you know how to fix it. The text entry boxes--such as the subject line for emails and the name boxes in the address book--are right justified. That is, when I type the words begin on the right side. And the words that are already there (such as the original subject in a Reply message) are hidden off the right side of the screen and only appear when I use the right arrow to scroll to the right.  - Lock From Process I seem to keep having to post this message b/c once I've send, it disappears from the list. I have a user that is using Entourage 2004 (recently upgraded). She is on a new iMac G5 and her email account is set for IMAP. Since the upgrade, she is constantly getting the following error screen: "Trying to get lock from process "5599288". (The number in quotes change with each message). What is curious about this error is that she is able to send AND receive email. She is able to file, etc. I have rebuilt her database, deleted pref files, etc. but it continues to give this error. It's more of a nuissance for the user than anything.  - Entourage/ Hotmail Sync Problems I have had Entourage synched with my Hotmail for a year now without any problems. The last week, however, I have been unable to send emails from entourage on hotmail. Five times last week, every time I tried to access my mail, all my mail disappeared from my Entourage hotmail folder, and was replaced by one email saying: Please visit www.hotmail.msn.com I then have to visit Hotmail with my browser and verify that i am a human being and not a computer program by putting in the digits i see in a little jpeg that comes up on the screen with wavy lines over it. After I have done this, I can then download all my mail again. Obviously, I understand that Hotmail has to do checks like this now and again. But 5 times in one week? How long will this continue, and will I be able to send emails from Hotmail with Entourage or not? If it continues like this, I'll have to switch email providers. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a Mac or Entourage or Hotmail problem? Is there anything I can do to fix it? Help! I am running OS X 10.2.8. Entourage version X. Thanks.  - Re-install Entourage? Is there a better way to fix Entourage conduits than re-installing Office 2004? I don't have ability to change overwrite capability.  - Entourage "strange" problems A few weeks ago I was sending emails with fairly large .jpg attachments. aroung 6MG per email. I use Hotmail through Entourage. The mail was sent OK but I was left with 4 email in my drafts folder. Now I cannot delete these emails. When I try I get this message - "The action could not be completed. Mail error".  - Ports for IMAP on the Firewall? Hello, I currently have port 143 and 25 open on my server. I can access Exchange through Windows clients running Outlook via IMAP but I can't seem to do so with Entourage. Any guesses? Both systems are at the same house using the same router, connecting to the same server. The account is the same so my only guess is that it is a port Entourage or Mac uses in addition to 143 since when I noticed it wouldn't work I specified in Entourage to use port 143. We haven't, although we can get it to look up names in a Microsoft LDAP server AND if we switch the client type to IMAP, it works with the non-Microsoft LDAP server.  - Entrourage installation I am new Mac user, installing the Office test drive. I have two users setup on my iMac, one of which is an administrator. After installation of Entourage (using the Administrator account), I am unable to start the application as the other user. There is a message displayed that the application cannot be installed on a read-only volume. >From what I can tell - the user account has read/write permissions, but apparantly, I still have not defined the required privs. Any advice or assistance is appreciated.  - Entourage 2004 calendar Hey, I am using Exchange 2003 with a couple of Entourage 2004 client. I have noticed that when if people send you invites to their meetings and let's say they are all on the same day and at the same time, you can accept the meetings and there is no message that says there are conflicts whereas Outlook would tell you. Has anyone else experienced this problem? And if so is there a solution to this problem besides having the user go and look at their calendar before accepting.  - Groups in entourage... Hi, I and a collegue are both running Entourage 2k4 on Panther. He has many distribution groups created and I not so many. However, whenever he sends mail to his groups with the "don't show addresses when sending to group" option checked they do not receive them. I can send with the option checked. Any ideas on where to start to correct this issue? I did notice that the contacts within my groups are physically within my addressbook and a couple of his are being pulled from our LDAP server. Would this have any effect?  - So why does Entourage 2004 not connect to a Exchange 2k server natively? I am running Entourage 2004 on a handful of office macs running OS/X and it works fine connecting to our exchange 2000 enterprise server using the imap or pop type connections. Now unfortunately the office manager of that department always points out the good old days when the older OS/9 Outlook 2001 mac client connected to our exchange server seamless and it had full address book access,etc. So exactly why does the newer version of Entourage 2004 not connect to exchange the preferred "Microsoft" way? I know the default Mapi calls of Outlook for the pc are very heavy. Just curious and it's more of a way to cover my butt on convincing them to upgrade to os/x about 6 months ago. Thanks.  - Entourage & Exchange Server In my office (of 2 Mac computers) we are using Entourage 2004 & both have G4's. We would like to be able to synchronize our calendars & contacts in Entourage - so that both computers share the same information. In the research I have done, I have not found conclusive evidence that Exchange will work - I have heard from some that it will & others say it does work - but not perfectly. For instance I have read that the data doesn't go into each others Entourage but in Public Folders which is not as easy to view & work with as in Entourage. I'm looking for one or two people who are using Exchange successfully with Entourage & to verify that indeed it will allow the data to update from computer to computer as changes are made. Or, alternatively, for someone who has experience with the 2 that can tell me that perhaps it is not quite there yet... Thanks for your help!  - Archiving Instuctions for archiving data are vague. You have the option to choose different components (Mail, Taks, Calendar, etc) but no option to chose dates? (Older than one year, etc). I use Entourage 2004 and when I get an email with a URL, it seems Entourage is adding a clickable link, enclosed in <> ......  - Switched from Entourage x to 2004 We recently switched over from x to 2004 and are having problems importing our contacts. When we did the switch only some of the contacts show up in 2004. We tried following the import steps to import the old contacts but it doesn't give us the option to choose the database file in the office x identities folder. Maybe I am looking for the wring file?  - Restoring entourage e mails I use os x (panther) with microsoft office x ( entourage version 10.1.1) I had to reinstall entourage. I used the import option and located the files to import. It imported everything (contcts,notes, tasks, calender) but no emails. It did not import my account infomation. which I have re entered. I can see by the size of my old database files and the size of my new database files that not all the infomation is transfered. I have tried different importing into a different identity.  - Overwieght Database My Entourage database file weighs in at 1.8Gig. I have a notion that this must be slowing it down.  - Folder Location for Entourage Contacts I found a folder on my OSX desktop called "Entourage Contacts" and probably need to move it back to the correct location but I am not sure where it should go.  - Entering untimed events into Entourage I use a Palm Pilot and am able to enter untimed events which show up on my entourage calendar. I want to be able to do the same thing directly on the calendar within Entourage, but can't seem to do so. Every time it requires you to create a specific event.  - Entourage 2004 hot sync conduit problem all of the sudden my hot sync between entoruage 2004 and treo 600 will not work. Tried to re-install handheld sync installer 1.0.1 and it will nto work. The real odd ball thing is that when I go in to the hot sync conduit settings for Entourage it will not open up to adjust the hot sync settings...nothing happens when I double click! All the while it says I am hot syncing but no info exchanges from the handheld to entourage. Tried to trash conduits and reinstall - with the same result...any help would be appreciated.  - Entourage self destructs Beginning about 4 weeks ago, after I installed the last security update to Entourage, it has been losing data. At first, there appeared to be a corrupt email in the database. Entourage would freeze if I tried to read that one email but otherwise worked fine. I called MS and they took me through a number of steps, including option starting entourage and going through its various procedures. They concluded that there was a problem with my iMac G5. I called apple and went through a process with them, including running scandisk from the CD and found nothing. Two weeks later, Entourage froze completely. I called MS, and they had me to a complete reinstall of MS office 2004. My data were gone, but with entouraid I was able to recover most of it. Today, I innocently started entourage, and it opened with a new file as if it were being run for the first time. Each time this happens I lose two weeks work. I tried to run my back up but that would not run. I have an archive from last week, so it is not fatal, but I am at my wits end. Should I just bag entourage?  - Recurring Calendar Events I'm trying to establish a two-week event as a recurring event that takes place every four weeks. For some reason, Entourage is double scheduling this event occasionally. The event is supposed to run 14 days from Friday through Friday, then repeat after a break of 14 days. In addition to scheduling that, Entourage is scheduling two-week events starting on seemingly random days. I thought it had to do with a conflict with holidays, as all incorrectly scheduled events followed holidays, but I've taken holidays off the calendar and it's still happening.  - getting web pages into projects Entourage 2004 11.1, OS 10.3.8 Any suggestions for quick and efficient ways to associate a URL with a project? So far the best I've come up with is copy it into a Note, but that's a tad annoying because I still have to open the Note to access the link again. I also tried copying into a Clipping, but couldn't figure out how to open the Clipping to access the URL as a clickable link, though I could see it. Ideally there would be a panel in the project for weblinks--and I would be able to copy a link in, then return to that panel and click on the appropriate link, without having to open all sorts of things in either the initial creation or the retrieval. E.g., each project would have a Bookmarks equivalent. I'm just getting into using the Project Center, and using it in pretty simple ways, mostly to collate related emails, not sharing anything.  - Contact destination Being unable to sync Entourage conduits with my Palm T5 after a reset I need to be able to save my contacts and if possible, emails . Seems that most of the issues in this forum would be eliminated if there was an Outlook 2003 for Mac (Entourage just is not up to par with latest Outlook).  - Sort order wrong for companies with multiple words in name Companies with more than one word in their name show up with the convention of a person, e.g., "General Electric" shows up in the "E" instead of "G" ... in Outlook, there is the Sort As field to solve this problem, but I cannot find similar in Entourage. Does anybody know if it's possible set/change the visible columns, column width and sorting for every folder of a given e-mail account (IMAP in this case) at once (instead of folder by folder, which can be quite a pain and lead to irritating differences in the column width)?  - Identities-Related Error Message Hello, I'm getting an identities-related error message when I start Entourage with one of my identities. I recently had to erase my hard drive in order to perform a clean install. Before I did this, I saved my Entourage identities folders and files. I recently tried to reinstall them by replacing some of my newer indentities folders with the older ones I had saved. When I do this, however, I receive an error message saying that my current version of Entourage cannot read this identity. Could anyone provide me with any advice? A number of my recurring yearly events (like birthdays) are now off by one
day -- too early. Upon opening the events, they are listed correctly, but
are listed on the wrong day. Any idea what is going on? I'm using Entourage
2004 on Mac 10.3.8.

This could be a time zone issue. I had a few like that. It turned out
they had the wrong time zone on them. Open up each event and make sure
the time zone is set to your time zone.

I also noticed when I went to a different time zone that my all-day
events would be shifted too. Since they aren't really
midnight-to-midnight but that calendar day you would think they should
stay on the day, irrespective of what time zone I am in. Although things
like public holidays for other countries would be better shifted.
