Had a friend who has Entourage 2001 with a 38MB file called "Message" with
old emails she's saved. How can I get those messages back into Entourage
after recovering her system?

If the other files that went with it (Database, Rules, etc.) are gone, then
the file is useless at this point. You might be able to open it in a text
editor to extract some information, but you won't be able to use it with
Entourage.

If the Messages file is with the Database file, then you can simply drag the
two into a folder, and place that folder in HD/Documents/Microsoft User
Data/Office 2001 Identities/. Then, open Entourage 2001, go to File >
Switch Identities, and re-select your identity.
