I have a problem with reading old emails in Entourage 2008. When I converted from a PC to a MAC, I brought over a number of Outlook emails stored in various folders. These are all .msg files. These wouldn't open in Entourage 2004 but there was a work-around which involved changing the suffix of the files to .eml and then opening it in Entourage 2004. Although the resultant file was a bit messy, I could at least read the original email text. However I have now converted to Entourage 2008 and this work-around no longer seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can open and read msg files?

Most any solution for converting from Outlook to Mac will require
Outlook. If you still have access to Outlook on someone else's computer
then I suggest converting all your messages with a utility like
Outlook2Mac from <http://www.littlemachines.com>.

Alternatively, you could see what happens when you open the .msg files
in a text editor such as TextEdit (found in your /Applications folder)
or BBEdit from <http://www.barebones.com>. I would imagine they'd still
be messy but possibly readable.

Hope this helps!

Will Apple Mail read these messages. If yes, then import them all into Mail.
Entourage can then import from Mail. You could import these into an archive
Identity rather than adding them to your current Main Identity. You can
easily switch Identity to view the old messages.

I just posted several helpful links for cross platform users. Not sure if
you still have your original .pst files but you might want to start fresh
and bring them into Entourage.

Check out the options on the "Convert Mail from Windows to Mac" Page:
