I can't seem to turn off read receipt. The only evidence I found of them
being activated was as a Rule, which I have now deleted but the recipients
of my e-mail are still receiving them. It's obviously saved in preferences
somewhere but I can't find it to turn it off!

Please help.

Go to Tools...Accounts - select your account, then Edit. Look for a
Disposition-Notification-To header under the Options tab in the Edit Account
window.
