Here's a worrying development that I've just noticed:

I've been creating a lot of posts to Public Folders for the purposes of
standardising documentation for tech support across Macintosh and Windows
platforms.
As there are dozens of folders in our Public Folders hierarchy, I've made
some of these "Favourites" in my Entourage 2004 client.

It seems that when I post to folders in these Favourites that the copy
appears to be in the main body of Public Folders too, but that these
disappear from time to time (looks like it's when an Outlook2003 user
accesses it, but I need more evidence).

This morning, nine documents vanished from Public Folders and then, when I
checked my Favourites they were there until the folder sync'd with the
Exchange server.

No-one is deleting these, but they are being trashed.

Does anyone have any similar experiences with Entourage and Public Folders?

I would use SharePoint but the "use an external editor" model really really
sucks on a Mac.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul!

Not an answer for you but a clarification. The folders you have in
Favorites are simply aliases to the real folders in the Public Folders.
I'm not sure why posts would go missing but it shouldn't be because of
posting into Favorites or directly to the public folder itself.

If you do find the cause or at least a reproducible set of step be sure
to post back here.

Hope this helps!

Bill,

Sorry, I missed your response to this post. Thanks...
Our server admin said:

important data to that store..."
Rather than fighting City Hall, I changed from using any shortcuts to Public
Folders and now browse them the long way round. So far, nothing has gone
missing since doing this.
Public Folders are another "de-emphasized" thing in Exchange 2007, aren't
they?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul!

It's certainly nice to have some corroboration from your admin. Thanks
for posting back.

And, yes, the concept of public folders is de-emphasized but I expect
we'll continue to see support for them through the next version of
Exchange Server after 2007. I think they're too popular.
