I have a french MS Office 2004, and when I reply Entourage automatically add
a space between "RE" and ":". Does anyone know how to avoid that behaviour ?
It is very inconvenient to other news readers. I have also a problem with
automatic capitals at the begining of sentences. It's rather inconvenient.
Is there a way to disable any automatic correction like these ? I disabled
spell correction, but it changes nothing to this.

Look under Tools | AutoCorrect re the capitalized sentences (same place as
in Word).

I'm guessing that the RE[space]: is because French grammar demands a space
before the colon, and spellcheck is in effect in the subject line....

Disabling "check spelling as you type" didn't fix the RE[space]: problem?
Now I'm curious about where that setting might be...it ought to be grammar
check controlling it but I don't think there's a "check grammar as you type"
setting in Entourage. I wonder if it picks up Word's?

It's conceivable that experimenting with the AutoCorrect options and
Exceptions might also make a difference, though I doubt it.

It's ok for capitals now (I didn't look at all options), but not this
"space" problem. In Word both works, but there are many more options (didn't
bother - unchecked all :-)).
It seems possible to change the "respond message", i.e. "somebody wrote:",
but not the title. And I suspect it's hard-coded (or set as option), and not
the result of spell check. If only I knew where it is ! It would even be
possible to patch the executable file :-)

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
if I remember correctly, the "RE :" issue has been addressed before. The
problem is, as Daiya said, that the French e-mail convention requires the
space before the colon, and non-French versions of Entourage (and some other
e-mail clients, too) do not recognise this as a standard "RE:", which is why
this part is repeated time and time again in the subject line. As far as I
know, there is no way of changing this, and it's clearly an Entourage issue.

Thanks. At least I know there is no solution. Unless finding where
this damn "Re :" is located in MS Entourage executable files, but
it doesn't please me much :-)

WARNING! I have no idea how this works and am wildly guessing! Experiment
at your own risk!

Previous discussions about the German version using AW instead of RE sent
people to using a resource editor to change something. This may have a
similar fix. Here is all the info I found, going off a vague memory.

See the very bottom of this link:

And I think this is the French Mac MS group where they might already have
found a fix if one exists.

These links seem to lead to "something", I'll post the
solution if I find one.

Thanks everybody for all interesting ideas.
