I have a frustrating issue with the toolbar icons while reading messages and
I'd like to know if anyone has a workaround.

When I'm reading email, and clicking on the "Delete" toolbar button, for
some reason the word "Reply" appears next to the "Reply" toolbar button.
Unfortunately, this causes all of the toolbar buttons to move. The side
effect of this is that I have to constantly look to see where the delete
button is for the message I'm reading.

Is there any way to customize the toolbar so that either a) the text never
appears next to the toolbar buttons or b) I can move the delete button all
the way to the left so it doesn't move as the toolbar buttons are
rearranged.

I'm using Entourage 2004, but I had this problem with Entourage.X.

Thanks!

No, unfortunately the toolbar isn't customizable. I agree that the buttons
don't always act predictably; at times I've had two windows of the same type
and size open, yet different buttons had labels showing up!

If this feature is important to you, be sure to send the feature request to
Microsoft. In Entourage X or 2004, go to Help -> Send Feedback on
Entourage. Otherwise, click on this direct link to enter Mac Product

As Mickey points out, the toolbar is not customisable yet (I wish it was,
please take the time to send feedback and request it!)

However, the particular problem you are facing now can probably be cured by
al;tering the size of the mail window very slightly.

Some buttons expand/contract depending on how big the window is and what
buttons are active. It may be the delete button is a slightly different size
when pressed to the unpressed state, and this change in size is triggering
the re-size of the reply button. Just grow the main window a couple of
pixels and see if it stops acting like this.

It's not really a resizing issue. Rather, it's that it inexplicably adds
and removes the word "Reply" to the reply button on the toolbar. When it
does this, it has to reposition all of the buttons to the left of the reply
button, so all the buttons end up moving around.

It's a shame that there's no way to get it to stop adding text to the
toolbar buttons, as this is second only to the Office Assistant in terms of
annoying behavior for me.

I suggested the feature on the web site, but the disclaimers it gave make me
pessimistic, to say the least.
