In case there are some who don't have the AutoUpdate set to check
automatically, the new 12.0.1 updater is now in place. I just applied it
myself & all appears to have gone as expected thus far.

All apps About screen reflect the 12.0.1 nomenclature.

Bob,

When you now open the Microsoft AutoUpdagte and click on
"View installed Updates" does it show the 12.0.1?

If so, what does it say and do you know where that text is saved?

The reason for asking is I would like to update my list. I downloaded
and ran the update before it was made available to the AutoUpdate

No, it doesn't show up. Why I do not know.

Apparently 2008 isn't creating an Updater Logs folder or file. The only
thing I've located so far is the updated nomenclature in the About...
Dialogs & the info below.

If you do a Spotlight search for 12.0.1 you'll get a list of "Other" results
that indicate the 12.0.1.incremental.pkg installations.

Thanks.. too bad it is not writing the file. If that is the only
problem with 2008, we can live with it

FYI. After I run the updater, Entourage started to behave like a mad Christmas tree, flashing the e-mail list on and off. The activity monitor showed Entourage using 85% and more of the CPU (when in the foreground) and the hard drive turns and churns non-stop. I had to move back to E. 2004 which behaves nicely (12% CPU usage, max). This is not true when running Entourage in a non-Exchange connection. Unfortunately, the 5 Macs I manage are on an Exchange server (only one is downloading E-mail via a POP account) ... so I had to pull the plug on 5 "flashing" Entourage 2008 installs.

Not everyone is experiencing this issue. There appears to be a problem in
your install. One other thought is Entourage is trying to redown all
Exchange accounts again. For some tips on getting upgraded see:

<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2008/03/entourage_still_states_1200.html>

Can you take a sample log when Entourage starts this churing and post it
here?

Open Entourage and the Activity Monitor, place the Activity Monitor where
you can see it's window. At the top there is a popup, select All Processes.

Start the process in Entourage where the CPU is topping out, click on the
sample button to get a log then save this file.

-----

One other process you can use for testing is tcpflow. This will show what
Entourage is saying to your Exchange server. Quit all network applications
like your browser and ftp. Start tcpflow. Start Entourage connection. You
can see the results of Entourage talking to your server.

Test your network with tcpflow. See directions here:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/tcpflow.html>

Another application I ran into recently that does the same thing but has a
different interface.

EavesDrop....Let it capture some stuff then double-click any of the lines of
text in the main window to see more detail.
