In the main screen of the Office 2004 Project Gallery, there are icons for
things like ³Mail Message² and ³Calendar Event². How can I add, for example,
³Address Book Entry² or ³Task² to the Project Gallery?

You can't. Not that way. But note that even for ³Mail Message² and
³Calendar Event² you can't make your own customized templates as you can for
Word documents ? you get just the standard variety. And those can be made -
if you've switch to Entourage first, of course - via File/New/.
You could make your own "templates" for customized tasks or contacts
(address book entries), or calendar event or message - and open them from a
keyboard shortcut via a script.

If you want to know how to do that, write back - just to the Entourage news
group. You do not need to cross-post to the other 3 newsgroups (please
don't). The script in each case is only a few lines long, but due to an
incompatibility between the new Panther Script Editor and the Entourage
script menu (for saving script properties) there's an extra twist I'll have
to explain how to do it.

Come to think of it, if you want to be able to do this from any application,
you could use the System's script menu, but it has no keyboard keyboard
shortcuts. However there's no issue with the script menu in that case - I
just need to tell you how to display it.

Since you didn't remove the other newsgroups as I asked, I'm doing it here.

To make a Mail Message template that can retain HTML, use my "Message
Template X" script available free from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

For other items, such as tasks and calendar events, do the following. Due to
the fact that scripts saved by Panther's Script Editor won't retain changes
made to script properties between runs from the Entourage script menu, you
can't use the technique I used in the Message script. (I make my scripts i
Script Debugger, which still work fine with Entourage script menu.) Instead
do this:

Task

First make the task template how you'd like. You don't have to supply a Due
Date. Save the task.

In the Tasks List, select it.

In Script Editor, run the following script:

tell application "Microsoft Entourage"
set theItem to item 1 of (get selection)
if class of theItem = task then
set theID to ID of theItem
else
beep 3
display dialog "Select a task first."
end if
end tell
theID

Click "Result" tab in Script Editor, You'll seem a whole number (like 154)
in the Result pane at the bottom. Copy and paste, or just type, that number
in the script below, replacing the 0 at the top line by the number you just
got.

---------------------------

property theID : 0

tell application "Microsoft Entourage"
activate
open task ID theID
end tell

------------------------------

Save the script as a Script (the default) named "Task Template \cmT" (no
quotes) to the Entourage Script Menu Items folder in ~/Documents/Microsoft
User Data/ folder. The bit at the end gives it the keyboard shortcut
control-command-T. See "About the script menu" in Entourage Help to see how
to make different shortcuts.

Repeat all these steps for

contacts (select contact in the Address Book, replace 'task' by
'contact' in the saved script): Contact Template \cmC
calendar events (select event in the "All Events" custom view in
Calendar Area, replace 'task' by 'calendar event' in the saved script):
Event Template \cmE
notes (select note in the Notes List, replace 'task' by 'note' in the
saved script) : Note Template \cmN

You'll find the scripts in the Script menu (next to Help menu), or press the
keyboard shortcut.

For calendar event, you need to supply a Start Date and Time in order to
save the template.

If you ever delete the template items you'll get an error. Just open the
script in Script Editor and repeat the process with a new template and its
ID. If you do a database Rebuild, you may have to discover the ID for the
saved template - it may have changed.
