 - PocketPC Sync with new Entourage? I regrettably purchased a Pocket PC which worked quite well with Entourage for OS9. Someone could send me an email with an event. I would accept. It would automatically add it to my calendar. They have changed the calendar standard in Entourage for X (you would think both Microsoft products would be compatible) and now the dates are all wacky.  - Dismissed Office Notifictions reappear on upgrade to X I imported my data from Entourage 2002 to X and office notifications that were previously dismissed appeared again in the dock (all 916 of them). When I open the Office Notifications app I am not given the opportunity to Dismiss or Dismiss all. Nothing happens. I've rebuilt the database.  - Entourage and Exchange Server Has anyone managed to use Entourage with and Exchange server? I am running a number of PCs and Macs on a single network all using Exchange Server. With Quark 6 now out - Outlook is the only system 9 programme I use and I would really like to kill 9 off now. Does Entorage work?  - BBC message won't send ... I tried to sent a message with a BBC list of about 150 recipients. It froze part way through, and left the message in the Outbox. "Send and receive" failed to finish or restart the process. I've quit Entourage, restarted, tried resend a number of times ... and I see no activity indicated by the "progress gear." I would gladly create a new message and resend, but when I try to open the errant message, in order to copy its contents, I get the following error message: "Can't open the message because it is being send."  - CANT UPDATE OFFICE X to 10.1.3 Hi, I have been running Office 10.0.0 for quite some time. So I decided I needed to update the software. I first updated it to 10.1.2. Everything went okay. Then I updated it to 10.1.3. It had me re-enter all my info ex:name, Phone #, and registration #. When I entered the reg#, it said the # is invalid. How can this be?  - Entourage Deletes My Email Too! Hello Listers! I just wanted to chime in and say that Entourage deletes email on my IMAP (.mac) account also. It is always the OSXList Digest. It will also rename and replace the email with the next email message. This has happened five or six times, and I have only been using Entourage for about two weeks! Other than this quirk I love it!  - Big issue with Restore/Import Messages after backup Hi all ! I've got an issue trying to Import back the messages I previously saved from Entourage 2001. I did save all the messages with drag & droping the folders (including the Inbox) to a safe place, on another Mac. Then I installed again the iMac (format the HDD, install Mac OS 9.2.2, Office 2001, getting back the data and the old Entourage folders on the HDD, etc). Then I drag & dropped back the folders with my old messages back in Entourage 2001. And here come the problems... The restoration of the small folders was fine - OK. The restoration of the BIG folders (more than 150 MB, i.e. 1500 messages in store in a single folder) works but only partially: some messages are missing, since a more or less precise date (for example: in the Inbox, I have only the messages running from the Jan 1 2003 until March 27 2003 - nother after this date). No error message pops up. I upgraded Office 2001 to SR1, and started again the Imports - but that doesn't add anything to the gloomy picture...  - What's this line through messages? I have a junk mail folder on our IMAP server. After "deleting" the messages in that folder, I can still see them but they are crossed out. What happened to them?  - wrong proxy in entourage I have recently switched over from earthlink to comcast and when I run entourge X in 10.2.6 it uses attbi as its proxy address.  - Can't setup schedule for IMAP account In Entourage X, JMF puts a all junk mail in the junk mail folder on the server. I want to delete this folder every so often.  - Lost identity? Hi! I have a G3 iMac and Microsoft Office, and I appear to have lost all my Entourage data. Apologies in advance for the long posting below. Some time ago I had an "end of the file was reached" message when transferring to Entourage from Outlook Express and was told this meant my database was corrupted. Tonight, while doing some exploring, I came across the old OE Database, Database Cache, Mailing Lists and Messages files. I decided to copy them into my Identities folder (suffixing them with OE), thinking they might contain the lost OE info. When I then tried to open Entourage, I initially got a message that it could not open with that identity (unspecified). I then dragged the four OE documents onto the desktop and opened Entourage again. This time it opened up, but with all my addresses, emails and diary appointments gone, and nothing but a welcome message from the Microsoft Mac team! Does this mean I've lost all my data? Or is it being held somewhere on the disk? In desperation I then tried to open Outlook Expess, and to my surprise I got the following message: "To use data from your previous version of Outlook Express, move or copy the identities folder located in ... to the Outlook Express 5.02 folder ... and start Outlook Express again". Is this message telling me I can now use the original data I had lost when I first transferred to Entourage? Apologies once more for the long posting. I hope I've given you enough information.  - Applescript or Outgoing Rule and Multiple Accounts Hi List - I have about 12 accounts in entourage 10.1.1 and want to prevent sending a message to someone in my address book from the wrong account. The easiest way I can see to do this is create an outgoing rule that looks for the recipient's category and then changes the account from which it is being sent. The first part is doable in the rules - but as far as I can tell, the second is not. I found an apple script called Other Account 1.0.1 which will work - but to do so I have to have a group and add everyone for a given account into that group. It also seems to be able to handle only one group - I need the ability to handle 3 different accounts. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for your time!  - Printing from Entourage causes an error 79 on our HP Laserjet 5000 Every time this employee tries to print from Entourage to our HP 5000N it causes a 79 error and the printer needs to be restarted. Before I send another printer ro purchase a new one for that office I was hoping there may be a fix for this problem. Microsoft seems to point the finger at HP and vice versa.  - Export / Import Palm data Greetings Everyone, This is driving me nuts, I am trying to get my palm data to Entourage, and vice versa. I managed to get the import from my Palm Desktop, kind of. However, when exporting from Entourage to the Palm Desktop the names were exported but nothing else was exported.  - Recovering e-mail I recently installed Mac OSX 10.2. In prep for soing so I saved all my data to a standalone hard drive. However, after re-installing Office 2001 for the Mac I am unable to find all my previously existing e-mails. Where does Entourage save them (on that standalone hard drive) and how can I recover them?  - How can I schedule an alarm same day as all day event? I want to set Entourage to remind me if it's someone birthday on that day at 11am. I have birthdays listed as all day events. I know I could change them to be meetings at a certain time, and then the alarm is easy to schedule. But that seems like it shouldn't be necessary. Also, I have several hundred birthdays in my calendar and would hate to have to change them all. Having done a test (set an alarm x hours before the event) it puts the alarm x hours before midnight. And you can't set an alarm to be negative (after the event) so it seems like the latest you can set an alarm for an all day event is 12am on that day.  - Problem applying update 10.1.2 I'm trying to apply Office update 10.1.2 to office OS X. Here is the problem: Install program says it succeeds; Excel, Power Point and Word update properly and show proper release number and builds, however Entourage fails to start with a "Entourage temp folder not found" message. Doing "get infor" on Entourage shows that it was not updated. Looking at the updater log I see a "update error -15" for Entourage, micorsoft graph, and english spelling. These files were not moved to the trash as the others were. Removing Office via the Remove Office app in the Value Pack and reinstalling results in same errors. Can't find any mention of update error 15 anywhere. This is a valid Office CD university issue. We get this same error on an iBook and 2 falt-panel iMacs (using same CD). All running OSX v 10.2.6.  - Limit on number of Recipients in Entourage? Is there a limit on the number of recipients I can email a single message to? I've had trouble in the past with groups over 50 or 100 and so I've been chopping my lists up, but I'd really prefer not to.  - Perfectly Syncing Entourage with a Palm Handheld - a Myth? Is it possible to perfectly sync a Palm handheld with Entourage? I have tried but without success. I have checked the technical databases of both Microsoft and Palm for advice on syncing but having followed the advice given, it doesn't seem possible to do it. One major obstacle is resolving the 'reoccurring dates' problem where events in Entourage's calendar must not be set as having no end date. Apart from the effort of changing every event this does not seem logical (think of Easter, for example) and appears to mess up the functioning of the calendar. Why can't Palm handle this and is there any way round it? I notice there is an article dedicated to syncing Entourage and a Palm handheld on Microsoft's website. However this seems to have mysteriously disappeared. Is this because Microsoft have realised that proper syncing is not possible? If someone from Microsoft is reading this, please could you repost it. I would really like to get Entourage to work with my Palm. I am currently running Microsoft Entourage 2001 (with all the latest service packs and patches) on Mac OS 9.2.2 and am trying to sync it with a Palm m130 handheld using the latest version of the Palm Desktop and Hotsync software using the Hotsync Cradle to transfer the data. I have the latest Entourage Conduit installed. Although Palm Desktop is a good program it seems silly to have two separate programs on the go as you lose the tight integration of information in Entourage. I guess those with a PC and a Pocket PC are more likely to have success in syncing information. Can anyone confirm that they have got Outlook and a Pocket PC to sync perfectly?  - Entourage Palm Sync oops! Need Help Microsoft Mac Unit! I was helping a friend get his palm set up and hooked up to his PC, and to make certain everything was working, I synced it up to my Mac to check it out. Unfortunately, He had already added contacts and the like, and when I did the hot sync, (under a different palm username, but that didn¹t help) it used the Entourage conduit and replaced all my data with his. So now my calendar is gone, my contacts and to-do list is gone and I'm left with his information. Fortunately, I managed to save the "Entourage Storage" file created by the entourage conduit in my user folder, and it has most of the data left... But, I am unable to decipher most of the schedules and to do lists, plus everything is in no order at all. Would you kind folks at the Mac Business Development Unit be able to decipher this file into at least a plain text document?  - syncing info between Macs? I have an 8600 with Entourage 2001, and a Powerbook G4 with X. I am set up as the sole user on each computer; the Powerbook's settings (contacts, messages, etc.) were imported from the 8600. Is there any way to synchronize the messages, contacts, and calendar items? That is, if I've checked email and made new appointments on the Powerbook while I've been away, can I integrate those items onto the 8600 already existing database, without duplicating items already present on both?  - upgrade from 9.2 computer to osx computer When I try to import into Entourage OSX it finds the OExpress folder but nothing relevant inside, no identity or anything of the sort. Also when I copy the whole OExpress folder and the preferences file from the system folder to the OSX computer and open OE under Classic, all the in / out / sent folders and messages are gone and OE looks like a new plain account, with only the welcome message in the in box.  - Palm Sync Conduit partially corrupts Entourage database I sent this under another subject heading that was not very clear. I am experiencing a problem with command - T corrupting the calendar display. I have figured out that this problem is related to the Palm Entourage conduit. The problem appears only after a hot sync and persists until the system is rebooted. Here are the steps. 1. In the view panel on the left, display at least three small monthly calendars. 2. sync the palm 3. navigate ahead several months and click on a few dates in the future. 4. hit command - T 5. Some of the dates on the small monthly calendar will no longer display correctly- that date will actually be placed on the wrong day of the week. If you force the calendars to redraw by manually moving the sizing bar up and down (hide views does nothing) it fixes the problem temporarily, but it will reappear if you follow steps 3-5 until you rebuild the Entourage database or reboot the computer. A sync starts the corruption all over again. This seems like a bug to me. Can any of you duplicate it? If not, do you have any ideas? Tag: Newsreader offline question Tag: 25063

 - Saving attachments entourage for OSX You have to be kidding, you will probably think. But it is true. In the OSX version of entourage, your choice when saving attachments is either Desktop, Private or Idisk (in case you have one) plus a number of Folders visited last in OSX. I can not believe that I cannot save the attachments directly to folders on volumes, but have to save to desktop, minimize entourage and then drag and drop to folders. I'm sure the best way to do this is via a on line calendar where we can both add and edit information via an html web browser. Any ideas. I don't think that iCal is working too good now.  - Entourage Directory Service authenticated access I am attempting to access a LDAP server for directory access over SSL with authentication, but I have noticed that even though I put in a password for access and attempt to save the password Entourage still attempts to bind to the LDAP server anonymously. In attempts to identify what the issue is I have since removed SSL and the conversation is now sent over clear text, and have analyzed the network packets and confirmed that even though I enter in a password Entourage still tries to bind to the LDAP server anonymously, which fails in my environment, due to anonymous access disabled. I have noticed that as I go into the Directory services account options that the password field is blank, i.e. It isn't even filled with dots indicating something is there, which confirms that Entourage just isn't happy with passwords for directory access. I really enjoy the entourage newsreader. One issue. How can I set it
download both the headers and bodies in one go. I don¹t connect to any
binary groups , but I would like to be able to read my news offline.

You need to create a news rule, like the one shown here:
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/rules.html#Anchor-rule6>

Go to Tools -> Rules, click the "News" tab, click New, and create the rule
so it looks like the one on the Help Page. Then, when you are online and
download headers from each group, the bodies will be downloaded as well so
that you can read them later.
