 - Outlook XP to Entourage 2004: Problems with importing I have followed the steps recommended here and elsewhere about the exporting of e-mail formed in Outlook to Entourage. I have successfully converted the e-mail created in Outlook into the MBOX format and it has successfully migrated from the PC to the Mac. However, when I try to import into Entourage I am unable to activate the folders to complete the process. The folders will not allow me to click on them, and the "Import" button remains inactive.  - Address Preferences Is there a way to have names displayed along with the suffix (Jr, Sr, etc.) I see a box for the suffix in the contact form, but it displays in any lists as only 1st and last names. Also, why is it when I create a distribution list some names are first name first, some are last name first. They are all listed correctly in the individual contact folders.  - Exporting Contacts I have 50+ e-mail addresses that I would like to export to a CSV file. The names are in a distribution list, yet I can't seem to export them or even cut and paste into excel.  - Applescript and Rules Hello, I am running os10.3.8 and entourage x. I have a few email accounts that are checked for new messages on a schedule (every 5 minutes). I created a rule that uses an applescript to speak the name of the account that any new mail arrives in. for example, if there is a new message (using pop server, not imap) on the server after the check mail script is run for account A, the rule is applied, the applescript is run, and the comnputer says "account A". The problem I am running into is in the situation when there is more than one new message for an account, the computer says "account A" "account A".... In the morning when I first check the email, there may be 20 messages and it just repeats and repeats. I only want the computer to say the account name once if there is new mail. If there a way that I can apply a rule to only the first message of each account? Perhaps I could create an applescript that checks the mail and tells me the number of new messages on each account?  - Migrate from Outlook 2001 to Entourage 2004 Hello all, We recently switched our Exchange server from v5.5 to 2003, which means our Mac users can finally get rid of Outlook 2001 and go to Entourage 2004 (last OS 9 problem left in our building!). Here is the problem that I am having: The groups (Distribution Lists) that the users created in the Outlook 2001 Contacts folder don't migrate over to Exchange 2004. The individual contact names migrate just fine, but the groups didn't make it. Now, some users have 30+ people in their old Distribution Lists (Outlook 2001) and I don't really want to have to manually re-create the groups in Entourage. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can migrate the old Distribution Lists in Outlook 2001 into Groups on Entourage 2004? Thanks in advance for any help...  - Large Attachments Not Sending I'm having a problem that it appears others are having on this list. Upon finding their problems, I have already gone through some troubleshooting: 1. I have verified that my Exchange Server allows large file size attachements. It is currently allowing any file size...no limitations. 2. I have rebuilt my database to assure that there aren't any corrupted files. 3. I'm using a cable connection at the office. To compound the problem, I am able to go into Virtual PC and, using Outlook, send the same message attachment without any problems. This isn't a server problem...it is an Entourage problem. Now that we have all of that out of the way, I'm getting the same message others are mentioning. The file attempts to send...varying in the amount that it sends before crapping-out. For instance, it may hit 30% or so...or even get to 99% or so and then give me an error. This is the error I receive: "Mail could not be received at this time. The server for account "TVPPA" returned the error "Login failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?" Now keep in mind that this message only comes after the send errors out. I have already received e-mail, synchronized all files with the server, etc. This isn't a simple "this guy doesn't have the correct password" problem. The fix the error, I'm forced to delete the outbound message and relaunch Entourage. At that point, everything works fine. It only occurs when I am sending a large attachment (14MB in this current case, but as little as 5MB that I'm currently aware of. Also, FYI, I have only started getting this problem. I began working in January with my new MAC...recently a PC convert...and started having the problem in March...as I recall. Could this be something from an upgrade? Please help!  - Entourage for Mac I use an office computer and also have one at home. When I receive and open an email at home, that email is not in my In box when I check my mail at the office - and vice-versa.  - Entourage 10.1.6 and TLS Heya all I'm having a problem trying to get Entourage X to use SMTP authentication over TLS. The account setting are setup to use a secure connection, but when ever it attempts to send email it gives the error that "Entourage doesn't support the requested authentication method". Using the OSX mail.app programme, I can send no problem from the same Mac. I've also tried this on 4 different Mac's and none of the work with Entourage. I'm also tried using OE, OL2000 and Thunderbird/Mozilla on a Windows PC, and all work fine - it's just Entourage that refuses to work. Are there any known issues with this? I can't find any info on the MS site, and I've found some vague references on the net that Entourage X has a broken implementation of TLS/SSL and does not work, and I need to grade to version 11.  - Downloading and deleting messages Hi, I'm new to Entourage (version 10.1.1) after using OE. I'm having trouble adapting to the different rules and would be grateful for some clues about managing newsgroup messages. In OE all messages in every thread could be downloaded and then opened and read offline. In Entourage every message must be opened online. How do I enable open and read offline in Entourage?  - Entourage Rules not working! Recently my only rule quit working in Entourage 2004. It's created as: "From Contains half.com"; Then the category is set to a category I created called "Sold Item @ Half.com". This used to have e-mail sent from half.com to appear red (category color) in my inbox. It's enabled, and I've chosen "Execute if any" and "Execute if all criteria are met". Neither works.  - Automatic Deletion from Inbox, Sent Mail (undesired) About a month ago my Entourage 2004 installation on OS X 10.3.8 using an Exchange server started moving messages from the inbox and sent mail folders into the deleted folder. This seems to happen during the scheduled updates. I thought it might be related to running Outlook on another computer simultaneously but not so. The installation had worked fine for about 6 months before this new behaviour started. No new rules or anything like that seems to be the case (it only happens when Entourage is running). IT here is stumped so far. Any suggestions?  - Items stuck in the Deleted Items folder After trying to empty the deleted items folder I received message "The Action Can not be Completed. Mail Error" and Entourage was locked up. Did a force quit and restarted. Looked in the deleted items folder and found one message remaining with a bunch of gray lines under it. Looks to me like I have a bad email and it has corrupted the deleted items folder from that point down.  - Entourage error 23016 with Exchange Server 2003 After over a year of running flawlessly, my office Entourage email has suddenly packed up. It cannot send or receive any messages from my corporate email account, and always gives me error message -23016. I consulted the Entourage Errors page mentioned in this group, but none of the fixes are applicable. I called our IT department and no changes were made to our server app (Microsoft Exchange Server 2003) recently, so I am assuming that isn't the problem. Any idea where to begin trouble-shooting? Is it possible I have a corrupted account identity? I am using Entourage X for Mac, version 10.1.6 on an iMac G4 (the model that looks like a table lamp) running OS X version 10.3.8.  - [TIP] obtaining the certificate of a server Hi All, I was reading the OmniWeb Help files yesterday and found the most interesting paragraph for certificates in the "Advanced Topics". Some servers use self signed certificates and Entourage complains that the certificate is unknown. To get the cert, you can of course request it from the Administrator, but in more than one case, the admin doesn't send the cert and people are left out with the warning every time they try to get their mail over SSL. Here is what the OmniWeb Help offers as a workaround: OmniWeb Help > Avanced Topics: If that doesn't work, then you can ask the server itself for its certificates. Open a Terminal window and type openssl s_client -showcerts -connect SERVERHOSTNAME:443 (where SERVERHOSTNAME is, of course, the server's hostname. The "443" is the normal port number for HTTPS.) This should spit out a few pages of information, starting with the word "CONNECTED" and ending with a line of three dashes. Hit control-C to quit openssl. In the middle of the output should be the certificate chain offered by the server. There might just be one certificate, or there might be several. The first certificate is the server's own certificate. The next one is the certificate of whoever issued the server's certificate, followed by whoever issued that cert, and so on until you reach the root of authority. That last one is the one you want. Copy-and-paste it (including the BEGIN/END lines) into a text file, ideally one whose name ends in ".pem". 2. Put the certificate where OmniWeb will find it. I recommend using the keychain, because then you can see (and delete) the certificate using Keychain Access. To add a certificate (in .pem format) to your keychain, type the following command in a terminal window: certtool i /path/to/pemfile You can do this by just typing certtool i , with the trailing space, and then dragging the .pem file's icon onto the window. Anyway, certtool should respond "certificate successfully imported", and you can then see the certificate in Keychain Access and it will be used by OmniWeb. If you want to store the cert in one of the RootCerts.pem files mentioned above, you can just move/rename the .pem file you have, or (if the other .pem file already exists) append the new block of text to the existing list of certs. The order of certs in a .pem file doen't matter.  - entourage 2004 and exchange Recently bought my first mac and have installed Office 2004. My email at work is handled by Exchange. I eventually worked out how to set up my exchange account in entourage (after a bit of trial and error with server names and ip addresses!). When I'm at home in the evening, I vpn to the network at work (run by SBS2003), and then start entourage. My mailbox and contacts seem to sync and I can see the emails that I received during the day at work, in my inbox. However it doesn't seem to then receive any emails I might get during the evening. I have found this because when I get to work the next day I see new emails which I never picked up the previous night. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Thanks.  - Public Contacts Folder We have a public contacts folder here that I used quite heavily on my PC before I switched to my Mac. When I bring up the folder view it just shows a list of names. If I click on a name I can't get any details...phone numbers, addresses, notes, etc. Is there something I can do to get this display this alternate info?  - Entourage 2004 database issues Hello, I retired a users machine this week without moving over the database from the old machine to the new one. I started up the users old computer today to check out Entourage and make sure their emails were there and at startup of the app I got prompted to create a new account although there should be the existing account still there. I quit that immediately but now none of the folders my user created under "Folders on My Computer" are there now. I moved the users old Main Identity over to the new computer and removed their existing Main Identity to see if it would come up that way. Tried "Switching Identities". Still no go. I went and rebuilt the database (Database Utility) and it did it's job rebuilding it but still there is none of the old files. Is there something else I can do? I'd rather not see my user cry.  - Unread view When I use the Unread folder view, it keeps messages that I've read in the view until I close and relaunch Entourage. Is this a bug? When using Outlook 2003 on the PC, the Unread view would remove messages as I read them, thus only keeping Unread emails in the view. Thoughts?  - Error log and Group emails When I send an email to one of my email groups, I get an error log message that the address was rejected. My question is this: Did the email go to all members of the group except the one that was rejected, or did it only go to those on the list before the rejected address? How do I know whick group members rerceived the message? The reason I ask this is that I have sent messages to 4 different groups. All groups are about the same size. The message was identical to all groups. One group took several seconds to a minute or two to process before I got an error log with an address deep in the list. One took only a couple of seconds before I got an error log with an address at the top of the list. The other two also had varying times before I got the error log message and mailing stopped.  - "Folders on this computer" Hello Using Entourage v.X and 2004 on a couple of klients. The problem is that it takes forever to syncronize all my thousands of messages and contacts with the Exchange-server. I´m thinking of some kind of archiving of some of my messages. What is the difference between storing message in "my account" and in "Folders on this computer"? Do "Folders on this computer" only store them locally? Can I set up a folder for archiving where messages only are stored locally and not synced with the exchange-server? I dont want to tell Entourage to "delete from server" to each message.  - Nonrepeating Reminders Don't Show up on Due Date I've been having a problem with reminders with Entourage 2004, possibly only since installing the latest update. It seems only to occur with single reminders for all-day events that aren't part of a series. They work fine until the day they're due, and then they don't show up on that day or on subsequent days.  - Problem entering event I'm using Entourage 2004. I'm having trouble entering appt's where I want to change the from and to time. I can't get it to occur every time, but it does occur often 1. I double click the day I want to create the event for 2. I key in the subject and location 3. I tab over to the Start time and change the hour and the pm / am, thinking that will adjust the From time accordingly. It doesn't. 4. I then tab over to the End time and I can't change it either by the up / down arrows or by keying in the numbers. I just hear the error sounds. In addition, if I change the pm / am on the Start time, it doesn't always change the pm / am in the End time. I can't seem to find a pattern that causes this to happen. Is this a known bug?  - Accepting Meeting Requests in Calendar from Windows Users Hello! THE SPINNING BALL OF DEATH! That's what we get whenever any of my Mac users accept a meeting request from a Windows user. The issue appears to be when Entourage 2004 does it's Send & Receive check. Entourage hangs at, or during the Calendar sync, and that great ball of death spins and spins and spins... You can tell because if you look at the bottom right hand corner, you can see where and what it's syncing. It hangs right at Calendar. Can someone tell me why this is happening?! I've actually seen it happen right before my very eyes. All the user did was accept a meeting. We then checked to see if it appeared on the date of the request, which it did. And as soon as Entourage synced, the spin began! If someone can shed some light on this I would GREATLY appreciate it. Similarly, for PERSONAL mail, I sort periodically either directly from the PERSONAL folder or from the Sent Items folder into a handful of categories I find useful. Last week, some incoming messages began to turn up in the wrong locations, so I decided to repair and backup, imagining this would clear up the anomaly. No such luck. After the repair, many but not all messages, both personal and work-related, are routed upon download from the server to one of the Mailing List Manager folders, notwithstanding they should not be affected by the MLM instructions. How do I clean up the spurious actions? Should I delete my MLM rules, run repair again, then restore the rules? Should I winnow out old mail messages stored within the application? (Some date back to 2002.)  - Network Links Hi I am trying to send a network link to a co-worker which is an easy task using outlook express for windows. You just highlight text, right click and add hyperlink.  - High disk activity slowing down all other processes Hi, on my PB G4/667, Entourage frequently (let me say every 2-3 days) starts to do SOMETHING that slows down performance dramatically (Entourage is not usable anymore, all other processes are handicapped and disk is operating with high activity). The problem is that this is running for nearly 10 minutes!!! It is not a schedule but something that seems to run in background like some indexing that Entourage seems to need from time to time.  - Using Entourage X and Entourage 2004 at the same time Question I want to continue using my PC running Outlook 2003, also one Macintosh running Entourage X, and another Macintosh running Entourage 2004. Can all three versions work together using the same email account? I plan on having only one open at a time so as not to confuse the Exchange Server. I read in the Office 2004 Resource Kit document (page 16) that they do not recommend using the same account with Entourage X and Entourage 2004. I assume that changing from X to 2004 is ok but it sounds like once you have upgraded, you can't go back? Is this true? This makes it hard to do testing with real users. Please clarify. Do I have to use a test account for Entourage 2004 while I am testing or move my account to Entourage 2004 and not go back to Entourage X? Macintosh Environment We have OS X (10.3.4) and are currently running Office X, Quark 6.1, Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.01, Extensis Suitcase X1, Norton Anti-Virus 9 with a few other Macintosh applications. The Macintosh computers connect to the file storage via IP and print IP. Exchange Server We have an Exchange Server version 2000 with SP3. Clicking on "open" in the message or using Control > "open attachment" switches to Word, but doesn't display the attchment - only the document currently open in Word.  - Whats happened to my Menus Today when I started entourage this message came up " The action could not be completed, unkown error 4362 occured" . Since then having rebooted, quit entourage etc etc I have a problem. The menus in the pop open windows refuse to work. I can't send recieve, reply to e-mails from these menus. The problem is that if any email has puncuation in the subect line
(i.e. "&" or "... "or "+" etc) Entourage does not pick it up. I also
note if I try opening the e-mail via WEBMAIL it opens up as "Page not
available" Anybody have an idea what the problem is?

I am having exactly the same problem. I assume this is a known problem to
Microsoft?

Does anybody have any idea how to fix this problem as we are missing some
very important messages because of it.
