Message window loses focus after hitting reply

If I use command reply or hit the reply button I get a message screen,
but it doesn't have focus. In fact I can't work out what does have
focus, because it doesn't seem to be the Entourage window behind it.
Does anyone else have experience of this - and perhaps a fix please? It
works OK if I control tab to get the focus, but it's still annoying...

I've started seeing the same thing in the past few days. Not sure what
has changed on my system, but I'm certain it wasn't happening before
the holidays. If I quit Entourage and restart then the focus behavior
goes back to normal, but a few times a day this problem happens again
and I need to restart. Very annoying, hopefully someone has a solution?
