I have 16 mail accounts that I manage in Entourage. Only 3 of them get much
use though, 2 IMAP accounts and one POP. I have about 11,000 received
messages between them. After about 5 years of using Entourage, something
crazy happened today.

Entourage started crashing after being launched for about 10 minutes. After
one of the crashes, my mail was all jumbled. Rules were not all attached to
their proper boxes. Mail was in the wrong boxes. Junk mail was in normal
inboxes. Some mail ended up in deleted items folders. Most disconcerting,
the Inbox for the POP account, which has about 10,000 emails in it, is
totally empty. I have a saved view that looks at all of my inboxes, and it
still sees the mail that disappeared from the POP inbox, but I can't find
the messages in any 'real' directories.

Any thoughts? This is quite a tragedy for me.

Have you rebuilt the database? Since the database is clearly corrupted,
that would be the obvious first step.

Also, what version of Entourage is this? You say you've been using it
for 5 years; if you are using a five-year-old version, you may easily
have hit the database size limit. m.

A look at the source of his message shows it's coming from Entourage 11.1.0,
i.e. 2004 SP1. (Not, like most nowadays here, from Google.)

2004's rebuild engine is really first rate. Effectively no size limit
either. Take Matt's suggestion and do a rebuild - that will probably fix it.
