    - Exchange folders gone missing deleted in Entourage We've had 2 users in 3 days who all of a sudden noticed that all of the custom folders they created in their Exchange mailbox were gone. They didn't delete them, they weren't in the recover items area. Just gone. They are both on 11.2.1 (051004) for Entourage 2004 (SP2) and using mac 10.3.9 or 10.4.2 I use a mac and PC so i confirmed that their accounts were set up correctly. We have 3 domain controllers, but most macs are set to the same DC because Entourage can't pick and choose on it's own. Anybody have help? Restores are no fun. Tag: Lost Mail? Tag: 62138

    - Removing the database daemon Hello, I do not use entourage, but the entourage daemon is being launch at startup of any Office application. Is there a way to permanently disable the entourage database daemon?     - Slower key repeat rate than other apps? I've set the Key Repeat Rate in System Preferences --> Keyboard and mouse to the maximum value, but Entourage still is kind of jerky and slow when holding down one of the arrow keys to move the text cursor around.     - 'move message' rule deletes partial messages When I set up a rule that should move any mail to a special folder depending on the senders address, Entourage (11.2.1 running on OS X 10.4.3) just _permanently deletes_ the message if it is a partial one. (That is, if the mail is less than a specific size as set in the account options and is therefore only partially downloaded.) The mails just vanish... I lost some mails today this way, which is somewhat annoying, to put it mildly... Is this a known bug?? I could not find anything so far on the net/usenet dealing with this very subject. Maybe someone could test this on his/her machine? On the other hand, I have no idea how to deal with this problem unless I switch off the partial download option. Daniel Tag: Lost Mail? Tag: 62128

    - Entourage 2004 and StickyBrain 4.0/4.02 compatibility issues After installing a trial version of release 4.0 of StickyBrain I encounter the following problems when using Entourage 2004 version 11.2.1: Once you access a FlashNote by clicking on the icon in the menu bar it is no longer possible to edit contacts in Entourage. Although you can open a particular contact, all tabs related to the contact are gray; which makes it impossible to edit. Similar behavior occurs when trying to edit message rules or Mailing List Manager rules. The only way to fix it is to completely remove StickyBrain. The same problems happen with both versions of 4.0 and 4.02. I have been able to duplicate this behavior on multiple machines.     - Entourage Difficulty Syncing with Gmail I have been using Entourage to access my Gmail account via POP for about 6 months. In the last 2 days, Entourage hangs up as soon as it logs on to Gmail and won't make any progress thereafter. I have not been able to find out anything about whether Gmail's POP server is having issues, but I am getting increasingly frustrated. I am using OSX 10.4.3 and Entourage version 11.22.1 (051004).     - Mail error message I am using Entourage 11.2.1 on OS 10.3.9. Whenever I click on "Send & Receive" I get the following error message: Error [in use] account is locked by another session or for maintenance. Try again.     - Sync Palm with Entourage 2004 calendar problem-recurring events I have been fighting sync problems with the calendar and my Palm for some time. The issue at the moment was that recurring events with no end date were not syncing to the Palm. I learned something today that I don't recall seeing addressed in any of the previous help files. The Entourage conduit in the Calendar settings has an option for the date range to by synced. My experience is that I need to select "Synchronize calendar events on all dates" so the sync includes any recurring events that were created earlier than any limited date range you might otherwise select. Previously, I had selected a more limited date range of 4 weeks in the past, 8 weeks into the future that did not include recurring events in Entourage that were created prior to the 4 week limit.     - Entourage Spyware? I just noticed in the Mac Activity Monitor, when I clicked Inspect on the Entourage process and looked in the Open Files and Ports tab, I saw open http connections from Entourage. Here's what was displayed: 192.168.2.6:49244->206.130.119.22.west-datacenter.net:http 192.168.2.6:49245->206.130.119.22.west-datacenter.net:http 192.168.2.6:49246->www.culturevulture.net:http It's the last one that looks suspicious to me. Maybe that's a remote image from an HTML message? I had no message windows open at the time I checked this. Has anyone else noticed any unexplained TCP/IP connections being initiated by Entourage?     - Virtual PC and Outlook As you mjight tell from my previous posts over the last few days, I'm having a hard time migrating fro Outlook to either Entourage or iCal.     - Honest question here I'm not bashing MSFT or Macs, but here is my quandry. I've been using Outlook for years and find it to be the only indepensible MSFT program. I like iCal ok and I even like Entourage somewhat. But what I seek is one page where I can see tasks, contacts and mail, and link to contacts and other folders, as in Outlook Today. I also seek an easy synch onto the web or a cell phone. And I would like to be able to send appontments and stuff to Outlook users and vice sersa and have them go fairly seemlessly into my Outlook for Mac or whatever you would call it. There are lots of other little things I would like, but those are my two biggies. Given this, should I just give up and stick with Outlook? I would actually pay up to a few hundred dollars if someone would just create Outlook for Mac and make it just as indentical to Outlook as Word for Mac and Excel for Mac are to the PC versions. For the past day any time I try to send & receive I receive and Error that Entourage cannot connect to the server, and to make sure my computer is connected.     - Most useless thing I've seen... I'm new to the powerbook G4. I've used macs in the past and loved them. But I work in a world where Windows abounds... I've taken a big step buying a powerbook and planning to force myself back into the mac world. I've purchased Virtual PC which will do for my development needs but I had really hoped to use all mac stuff other than that. So office was a requirement as I need excel and word. Entourage seemed like a wonderful idea. I could use it instead of Outlook and still get appointment/task/email syncing with my exhange server based blackberry and I would have all the wonderful/hopeful integration with the mac stuff. Well basically as far as I can tell Entourage sucks... It will not stay connected, is often HOURS before it will reconnect and sync up the mail AND the tasks do not sync. Well that I could have lived with but the lack of connection is unacceptable. I have tried almost everything I could think of and gleen from the web on how to keep this piece of trash connected and syncing mail. It just has a mind of its own while right next to it, my outlook on my windows laptop just hums away. Now don't get me wrong... I really was never an outlook fan but the bottom line is it works and so far WAY BETTER than this piece of trash. Entourage is also not well integrated into the mac. Virtually every application in the mac when you "send email" will bring up the default mail.app no matter what I do. I guess my only option at this point is to continue using Outlook in a VPC window (slow) and hope that someday MS gets their act together and fixes this thing. Oh well... Mark Tag: Lost Mail?     - Creating a web link in an email hello out there. Happy new year. i would like to be able to send an email with a link to a web address that can be clicked on by the person who receives it and their browser opens up and takes them there, instead of how it is now with them copying the link and pasting it into their browser. How can i do this? On the flip side is there anyway for me to set up entourage so that when i receive an email with a link i can click on it and my browser will open up and take me there without having to copy and then paste it into my browser? i have Office for Mac 2004 running Entourage 11.2.1 specifically.     - Palm not synching I have been unable to synch between my Tungsten C and my eMac (10.3.9) using HotSync Manager. The synching operation runs normally but no data is transferred. When I checked the conduit settings for HotSync Manager and double clicked on "entourage conduit" nothing happened. Somehow I have lost the conduit settings. When checking the application support folder I found that the Entourage conduit file is correctly in the "conduits" folder, not in the "disabled conduits" folder. I recently upgraded to Office 2004.     - Suddenly Entourage Sent Folder Not Syncing with Exchange Properly I have a new Windows Mobile 5.0 device with Outlook Mobile. Both Entourage on my Mac and Outlook Mobile are syncing to the same Exchange server/account. Everything has been working fine until yesterday. My inbox is fine, but the emails I sent yesterday from the mobile device appeared in my Entourage Sent Folder with <no subject> and the date and time of the sync not the time the email was sent. I checked the Sent Folder in Outlook Mobile and in OWA and both are fine. But the Sent Folder in Entourage showed those few sent emails incorrectly. It is as if Entourage is not correctly interpreting the email format. When I opened the email, you can see the headers and it says that it is a "This is a multi-part message in MIME format." In order to fix the problem, I emptied the cache in Folder Properties of the Sent Folder in Entourage. Now ALL my sent emails (regardless of whether they were sent from Entourage or Outlook Mobile) show <no subject>. In other words, Entourage is not synching correctly with the Exchange server.     - Outlook Today apperance page / interface in Entourage? In Outlook, there is (for MSFT) an unusually attractive page that can be set summarizing tasks and a 5 or 7 day calendar. It is called Outlook Today. It is one of the main reasons I still keep a PC around, believe it or not; it serves as my master datebook. I use Macs for evrything else. But I hate not having Outlook Today on Entourage. (I also hate not having the ability to seemsly make qand accept appointments and tasks with someone using Outlook.)     - 'Unicode'?? I've just, in the last few days, started getting a message when sending some emails. it says "This message must be sent in Unicode format and...(blah blah blah)". If I okay it, the mail goes. As far as I can tell, an HTNL email remains unchanged but a plain text one has he font changed.     - Trying to understand how folders work I recently began using Entourage. My email address is ???@mac.com. On the left side of the box it lists all my folders. There are two headings. One is called "Folders on My Computer" and it lists the Inbox, Drafts, Outbox, etc. It appears to be inactive. Below it there are the same folders but the icons have a little green cable attached to them. These fodlers appear to be active as my email activity is stored here.     - Calendar Printing @#$%#$#@@#$ Happy New Year to all and thanks for all the helpful tips. So soon it will be 2006 and I'd like to print out a calendar as I did last year, in portrait format, on 3-hole punched paper so I can put it in my looseleaf binder. Ical refused to let me do that, so I imported all the info into the entourage calendar, where it looks perfect on the screen (except that it starts at 12AM and has wasted space until 8AM when I would like for it to start). But it at least shows a weekly calendar with seven vertical columns. But when I try to print, using any of the "forms" allowed, they all convert the columns into ugly fat boxes. And it insists on adding spaces for 'tasks' and 'notes' despite my removing those checks from the view menu. Please let me know how I can get this printed if you have any idea.     - a name in my address book I have a name that comes up ( it's a "paul") when I try to send a message to one of the paul's in my address book. I'm in entourage X for macs on a g4 mac laptop. But I don't know this paul or how he got into my system.     - Entourage - Not connected I have just started using Entourage and I have it connected to an Exchange server. I have seen that other people are having problems with the "Not connected" showing up and there is talk of certificates and other things. In my case I'm having a strange condition where 80% of the time Entourage is connected just fine. It updates mail and seems to work ok. But then the computer goes to sleep. When it awakens about 20% of the time Entourage can connect. If not it reports the "Not connected" message behind the Exchange server name. The strange thing is that nothing changed. Sometimes it can reconnect just fine. Other times it cannot. At first I thought this was due to changing ethernet adapters. This is a powerbook and I figured it was having trouble switching between the wired connection and the airport. So I started to quit Entourage when I would be changing connections. Same basic behavior. When my PB is plugged in I have just set it not to sleep. I'll see if that keeps it from losing connection. But compared to Outlook (yes yes..     - Incoming mail goes to the wrong inbox Last Thursday I started having problems with Entourage. I am running Entourage 11.2.1 with Mac OS X 10.4.3 and an Exchange server. Most (but not all) of the new mail arriving goes into the Inbox on My Computer. I do not have any rules set and I didn't change anything last Thursday. I have tried the following: 1. Rebuilding the database (after verifying that the database integrity was fine)- nothing changed. When everything downloaded again from the server, the majority of my email, regardless of its original folder, went into the Inbox on my computer. All of the folders downloaded but most were empty. 2. Repairing permissions- nothing changed. 3. Setting up a new exchange account- nothing changed.     - Entourage 2004 - Can't duplicate e-mails in Exchange Folders Hello. Has anyone encountered or have a solution for this? It seems that the keyboard shortcut used to duplicate e-mails ( Apple + D ) in Entourage 2004 does not work for e-mails inside Exchange folders. When clicking Apple + 'D' on locally stored e-mails or "Folders on My Computer" a copy is made of the e-mail message which can then be dragged and dropped to another folder. This function does not work in e-mail from my Exchange server. Apple + 'D' does not have any impact. Any workaround to this? We only have two Macs and it happens on both of them. However I have two address books, the one I construct myels by entering address. email. phone etc and thos contacts which arrive by mail only and establish themselves in a data base somewhere in the prog. People are saying they have been unable to send me an e-mail although I do
receive many e-mails. Is is more likely for them to have a 'sending' problem
or could I have a 'receiving' problem?

Whichever it is, this does not sound like an Entourage matter (since
Entourage does not receive your mail - it merely talks to the server
which receives your mail). Ask these people how they know they can't
send you an email, and then talk to your ISP about it. m.
