I am using Entourage 2004 under OSX 10.4.2 and I have no idea what
happened but most of my Inbox mail was deleted this morning. I did the
rebuild the database trick and the mail - including many received this
AM - are gone. i have a backup hard drive that was created with CCC
two days ago and it looks like ENT wrote over the files on that drive as
well. The MS Database file looks to be the same size on both drives.

I fear that i have lost the mail from the Inbox with no way to recover.
I would like to know what happened so it does not happen again.

I just booted from the backup drive and my Inbox is there with all of
the old messages. I dragged the good Inbox to the desktop and rebooted
from the primary drive but cannot seems to get Ent to accept Inbox file
from the desktop.

What am I doing wrong?

The only thing that seems to be corrupted on the primary drive is the
Inbox. I know I can select all and delete everything from the bad Inbox
but do not know how to import the good stuff from the dragged and save
good Inbox from the backup drive.

I must be missing something very basic

Thank you, thank you and thank you again. Mickey Stevens hit the nail
on the head. I was concerned the something ate my Inbox. I had one of
the options check. Unchecked it and everything was there again

Thanks to Mickey Steven
