Every time I get ready to create a new event I see the following: Event and computer time zones do not match. In Calendar views, the event time is adjusted to display correctly. Even when I click the options button of the "event" the correct time zone is checked. Is there a place I'm overlooking to see if the settings are right to avoid seeing this message in the future?  - Entourage Vx on intel mac New Macbook with 2 gig and used migration assistant and everything seemed to work well. Normally I never close applications but I happened to close entourage down and it will not restart unless I reboot. Log-in will not do it. Same thing happens with older version of Graphic Converter I was using as well. (4.8). Strangely Excel will start or restart when entorage will not. Once Entourage goes down - then word and powerpoint also refuse to restart Any help appreciated. As this is a new machine I cannot say if this was the case immediately or if it happened after adding some utility. Only utilities I am running are windowshade and fruit menu. Thanks in advance H.  - Database Corruption help please!!! Dear Group My Entourage 'custom views' seems to be damaged. I use this feature all of the time to manage my large international address book and use it to divide my customers by country. I cannot open my custom views (i.e. I click on "Argentina" and get nothing) No amount of rebuilding seems to work. I get a message that my database is damaged with the following detailed report.  - Office 2004 Notifications (Reminders) not working I recently upgraded my dad's mac from Office 2001 to Office 2004. Notifications (reminders) worked fine in 2001, but once 2004 was installed the Office Notifications would just appear as a blank sidebar on the left of the screen. There are multiple Entourage identities and the Office Notification clock only appears for one of the identities, even though they are all set to have it turned on.  - Why not simply a "Mac Exchange client"??? A simple question, probably without a simple answer, but I need to vent a bit. In the OS 9 days, Outlook 2001 for the Mac was a full-featured client for Exchange servers. It was essentially a clone of Outlook 2000 on Windows. From what I recall, the functionality was nearly identical. A Mac user on Exchange with Outlook 2001 could do everything a PC Exchange user could do with Outlook 2000/XP. Calendaring, public folders, allowing other users' access to the mailbox or specific folders, the replied/forward status of the messages were preserved, etc., etc. Then came OS X, and for some reason M$ scrapped both Outlook and Outlook Express for the Mac and started over with Entourage, primarily intended to be a POP/IMAP client. As we all know, Entourage X had issues working with Exchange; Entourage 2004 is decidedly better and I'm thankful for that. Still, for those of us who must use an Exchange server, Entourage does not provide the same experience for Mac users that Outlook provides for PC users. Why? Why doesn't Microsoft make an Exchange client -- an Outlook clone -- for OS X that simply works? Why don't they make Outlook for the Mac? They were able to port Outlook to OS 9 -- is it impossible to do so under OS X? Why are those of us who exist in an Exchange environment forced to use Entourage? Why do we have to use this clunky, IMAP/WebDAV hybrid interface, held together with duct tape, to access an Exchange server? Why do we have to use Entourage, and have no support for Notes and Tasks on the Exchange server? Why can't we have data like the replied/forwarded status of a message synced to the server, instead of being local to each copy of Entourage??? And if Microsoft can't or won't do it, why doesn't someone else make a truly native Exchange client for OS X? Mail.app tries, but in my experience it's just too slow to sync with the Exchange server, particularly for large mailboxes. And of course, Mail provides no support for Calendar, Contacts, Public Folders, Notes, Tasks, etc. It's not a PIM the way Outlook is, the way Entourage tries to be. There's a cliche that it takes Microsoft three tries to get anything right. Windows didn't really hit the masses until version 3.0; and when the 9x line came along, Win95 and the first edition of Win98 were pretty lousy. Win98 Second Edition was the first one that could truly be called "stable." Maybe this will hold true for Entourage as well, and the next version of Entourage (2007? 2008?) will have real Exchange functionality. Any insights or comments, please share. For instance, I want to put "Volunteer Here" in my text with a link to "http://www.myweb.com/valunteer/".  - Can't do global directory lookups when set to secondary Exchange If you are set to a secondary Exchange account in Entourage, the directory lookup feature (matching names normally appear from the GAL as the user types a last name on the To line ) does NOT work. The work-around is to change the From to the main Exchange main account, type in names and having the directory lookup work and then most importantly switching the From line back to the secondary Exchange mail account before sending the message. The Entourage user is using Exchange and selects a name from the global directory when typing a last name on the To: line of a new message being sent. 2. The Entourage recipient of the message sent in step 1 will NOT see anything for "To" on the message. This occurs because it appears that a non-printing character is being included in "To:" email address of the message as in "Last, First<invisible character>". If the message source text (View menu/Source) of the received message is copied to Word, the invisible character will be seen (rectangle, or other character).  - Must do a Force Quit to close Entourage I recently installed MS Office:mac 2004 student and teacher edition on my iMac 17" computer. I found that when I try to quit Entourage, I get a spinning "color wheel" and have to do a Force Quit (about half of the time). The Office technical support person was courteous, and told me to go to Home, my name, Library, Preferences, and to delete all com.Microsoft files from my office preferences.  - -199 error when attaching Word file Hi, We are seeing random instances of "An Unknown error -199 occurred" when trying to attach a Word file to an Entourage 2004 (latest updates installed) message. There was a post on the Word group about a year ago with this same problem. The workaround is to copy all the text of the file to another document and replace the problem version of the file. This works for us as well, but the user is frustrated. The MVP suggested that the Word file was corrupted. The problem has cropped up on several files. The strange thing about this is that the files attach properly to Apple MAIL, Outlook Web Access, and Outlook on a PC. This makes me wonder if the problem might really be in Entourage, and there is nothing wrong with the file itself. What do you think, dear reader? How can I report this to Microsoft?  - Mail to Group problem Hello I am sending messages to groups containing several addresses. I check the "don't show addresses when sending to group" box. My own address is not included in the group.  - Database Utility Backup Failing Entourage 2004 Greetings, I have the latest version of Entourage 2004; I have used the Database Utility to successfully compact and backup many times in the past. Recently, when I use the tool, the system appears to work and I receive a notification of successful compact and backup of my identity. When I go to home\Documents\Microsoft User Data\Office 2004 Identities\Identity[Backed up"Date"], the only thing in the backed up identity folder is "Rules"...16KB. Now I have a rather sizeable DB of mail and such (on the order of 2 GB (uncompressed?). Not sure if the DB Utility has a size limit it can handle. Thoughts/ideas on how to get the DB Utility working again? I suppose I can just copy the existing DB (uncompressed?) to my backup drive...or I suppose I could even try compressing it with gzip or something like that to save spac...though at possible risk for later restoration perhaps. Is there any comprehensive source on how entourage works, what needs to be done and respected ? ? it's a little bit exhausting, there's so many things that don't seem to work correctly, rules are applied only sometimes, junk mail filtering only part time operational, mailing list rules incomprehensible and unexplained ? I'm not sure, and I am no such thing as a 'mac fan', but if I don't find a way to understand what needs to be done to get this to work steadily, I guess I'll just switch back to the mac apps, or look for something else.  - Spotlight privacy OS 10.4.6, Entourage 2004, v 11.2.3 (060209) How can I prevent Spotlight from searching my Entourage mail messages? Following the instructions in the Mac Help file didn't do it -- I dragged the Main Identities folder (where the database lives - right?) to the Privacy panel of Spotlight as directed but it did not prevent a search from including my Entourage mail messages.  - Problem with mail portion of Entourage I'm using a new MacBook Pro. In the mail portion of Entourage, I have multiple accounts set up. All are working fine and yet I continuously receive error messages (when I click on the little yellow triangle at the lower right) that say: "[IN-USE] account busy (locked by another POP3 process]" What's going on?  - Error Message. I normally use my Power book for Entourage at work. I have now changed location (on holiday from US to UK) I still have the same email address but I am now getting this error message !! Entourage cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct. Could someone please help. Many thanks.  - Importing contacts I used to have a Windows 98 machine. I was using MS Outlook 98 as my PIM. When I switched to Mac and Entourage X , I made a back up of my Outlook contacts in CSV and burned it. Now I tried to import it to my Mac G3 with Entourage and everything seemed fine. But now when I click on Address Book within Entourage, the whole thing just freezes. I am forced quit all the time.  - Database not the same when copied over? This is an odd one for me, never seen it before: I just got off the road, a week's worth of Entourage 2004 work in my PowerBook Identity folder (there in the MUD). So I do what I normally do: firewire the PB to my G5 tower, and copy over the Identity folder. However, this time, when I open up the freshly copied ID folder (by actually double clicking on the Database file), it is missing the past week's Sent mail. It only shows the sent mail up to the time I left the office, one week ago. It's there in the PowerBook database, I can see it (and I sent hundreds during the past week), but when I copy over to the G5, and double click it, it's not showing up. Is there some other method of duplicating the MUD folder now with this latest 11.2.3 version? And a related question: how can I ascertain the exact location of an already opened Entourage Identity? The normal Command-clicking the window name (in the top header bar) doesn't show the file path. The reason I'm asking is because I wonder if in fact I've been working in some other hidden Identity, and in fact I'm copying over the incorrect Identity from the PowerBook. thanks.  - Entourage X I am admittedly a non-techie. I want my computer to send/receive e-mail messages, create documents like newsletters, and house my digital pictures. Beyond a novice understanding of how to make these programs work for me, I am ignorant as hell. I have a Mac mini, Mac OS X, Version 10.4.1 The Entouage program came with it. For the most part, I have been able to use Entourage to communicate. Frequently, I am notified of updates to existing programs. I have come to be leary of them as they confuse Entourage for a week or so. Yesterday, without warning and at a most unfelicitous time, my Entourage program went belly-up. A brief notice told me that there was a program failure and that I should report this failure to (the phantom) Entourage person. Of course, the failure wiped out ALL of my folders, made it impossible to send or receive any e-mails at all using Entourage; resultantly, no notification to Entourage. Question: How in hell can I correct this or get help to correct it? OR, should I just throw away the Mac mini and go back to my PC? (I really have enjoyed the Mac.  - Problems displaying AM/PM time Hi, I can=B4t make the time settings to display correctly in AM and PM time, that is on Calendar and on the received mail as well. I have changed the OS X control panel to use a 24 hour format but Entourage keeps showing everything in PM. If I try to change it on an appointment it displays the change in minutes but still not corresponding to a time change of let's say an hour... Any ideas?  - Syncing the replied/forwarded status of an Entourage message with Exchange Like all mail programs, Entourage shows small arrow icons in the Inbox message list to indicate that a message has been replied to or forwarded -- blue for replied, green for forwarded. The "InfoBar" at the top of the message will also read "You replied to this message on..." The Entourage reply/forward indicators do not sync with the server. If a user (such as my boss) uses multiple computers with Entourage, each Entourage client has its own set of reply/forward indicators, and tracks the status of messages independently. These reflect only the actions taken on a particular message from a particular computer. So if a user replies to a message from Entourage using her Mac at home, her office Mac will not show the "replied" icon. This is different from the way the PC version of Outlook interacts with the Central Exchange server. In Outlook, the replied/forwarded icons appear on the same messages in both the Outlook client and when using Outlook Web Access. And if a user has multiple computers running Outlook, the replied/forwarded indicators appear correctly on all clients. Obviously, the Outlook behavior is much more desirable. Does anyone know of a way to get Entourage to mimic this behavior, and sync the replied/forwarded status with the Exchange server, instead of tracking this status locally??  - Calendar and appointment time When I add a new calendar item, the time that shows up on the calendar does not correspond with the time I save in the appointment window.  - Exchange Mail going to Inbox in Folders On My Computer I have noticed several people having problems with this for the past two years. I have Entourage 2004 with an Exchange account. No POP accounts are set up at all. When I initially set up this account (as an upgrade from Entourage X) I started having this problem. I deleted the identity and created a brand new one. This seemed to work...for about a month. Now all of a sudden all new emails are going into the Inbox in Folders On My Computer again. This is really frustrating, as I can't go deleting and creating new identities every month.  - Entourage to Outlook via Exchange 2000 issue Hi all. I have an ongoing issue with Entourage sending emails to PC's using Outlook and other Entourage users via Exchange 2000. PC users cannot open the email, Entourage users receive the email but cannot read the body or only receive part of the body. The workaround has been to create a POP3 account in Entourage that sends email to our Proxy Server which passes the email back to Exchange. Mac user have to remember to use this account to send emails. This works but people do forget. I would like to resolve this issue as a number of Mac users are not taking advantage of other Exchange facilities and are using the local account on their Mac's rather than use their Exchange account. Emails sent from Outlook to the Entourage users read OK. All other features of Entourage and Exchange conectivity seems to be functioning OK. Entourage v.11.2.3 running on both 10.3.9 and 10.4.6. No way to get them out of the database, only chance is to export them from a
backup of your database, then re-import into the current one.

In looking closer I notice that the sync did not wipe out all data - it
synced data that began with the letter A, and also synced groups - it
just wiped out everything else. Is this some sort of bug perhaps?
