I received an error message in entourage, I don't remember what it
said, however when I clicked ok, all of my email and contact data
disappeared! What are the data files that email and contacts are stored
in? I am hoping I can find my 'old' information on my HD. Thanks in
advance!

Try Entourage | Switch Identity and see if your old identity is listed.

All Entourage information is stored in the [username]/Documents/Microsoft
User Data/Office [version #] Identities/Main Identity folder (assuming you
haven't changed the identity name).

It is a good idea to regularly backup the entire Main Identity folder, or
the Identity folder for anyone who uses entourage on a regular basis.

Daiya....thanks. I tried the switch identy option and all there was is
a Main Identity. I then checked the data file location, thanks so much
for the info and advice, and found what I believe is the database file
I am looking for. It is date stamped with the exact time of the error
I received and is 424megs and its named "Database". Do you know how I
can point entourage at this database? Thanks agian....almost there I
think!

Daiya....I tried to switch identity and only the Main exists. I then
went to look for the data files and found a 'Database' file in the
location you told me about of 424megs that has a date stamp of the
exact time I received the error message. Do you know how I can point
entourage at this database instead of the 'new' one it is using?
Thanks again!

I haven't a clue, because I'm not actually very good at Entourage. Search
the newsgroup:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage

and the FAQ page:
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/

One wild guess--duplicate the whole Main Identity folder, rename it, and see
if Entourage then recognizes it as an identity. (Quit all Office apps
first)

Daiya.....thanks for the advice. I actually made a copy of the
'Database' file, deleted the one that for some reason entourage could
no longer open and copied the orriginal back into the right place.
Rebooted the machine, opened entourage, and it was perfect restored
again.
Really....thanks for the help!
