 - Entourage Contacts Search Whenever I search my contacts database I would like to be able to search for company names or last names together without having to fill in these options everytime separately in the search box.  - Contacts have disappeared I recently installed the Office 11.3 upgrade; now running Entourage 2004 11.2.5. Just realized that with the exception of groups and the "Me" contact, all the contacts in my Address Book have vanished. Within groups, the members are still listed, but now they are "generic" (blue dots) instead of "recognized." I've restarted Entourage and verified that the database is not corrupt.  - Can't send emails I recently started using Entourage for email and after getting the emails forwarded from my Yahoo account to Entourage i tried to send an email and this is the message that I get. "Cannot send mail. The SMTP server does not recognize any of the authentication methods supported by Entourage.  - Connection problems to Exchange after user account changes Hi, Our IT dept started switching users from a win2000 env to an XP enviroment. They're doing it to switch to an Active directory setup. When they switch a user, they apply restrictions to his profile so that he/she can only log in to a specific workstation. When this is done to users who have both Mac and PCs, they cannot connect with Entourage 2004, or Outlook 2001 to the echange server from the Mac (OSX10.3.9). We have added the Mac's name from the Sharing preferences to the list of allowed workstations in their AD permissions. That lets them connect to SMB shares, but not the exchange server. We have also added the name of the exchange server to the list but still no go. The error message they get is that the username/password is incorrect. They can connect using OWA from Firefox to http://exchangeserver/exchange. The only solution we've found is if they don't have any restrictions on where they can log in to.  - Junk Mail Filter Malfunction I am using Entourage 11.2.5 with Mac OS 10.4.8. Until recently my Junk Email Filter was working pretty well. Then I started tinkering with the junk email settings. Now Entourage does not seem to accept my filter setting changes, and it's operating backwards of what I want. Most email goes into junk, and only one or two messages make it into my In-box.  - Entourage keeps disappearing! This is a new iMac (Intel Core 2 duo) with a new Office 2004 installed. For the second time now, on launching Entourage it shows the Set-up assistant and a brand new Entourage as if it had never been used. All preveious emails, addresses, notes etc appear to have been lost. There is only on identity. Can anyone shed any light on what might be happening and if it's possible to find the previous emails?  - entourage screw-up I have been using entourage for e-mail for some time. I am using two computers (an I-mac and a macbook) on trying to get into entourage on the imac I got the following mesage " Entourage cannot access your data. To Attempt to fix the problem, rebuild your database. Tried that - -got a read/write error (- 40) Ended with message 'Rebuilding failed. It is likely your database cannot be repaired." So... threw entourage into trash. used the macbook as a hard drive and transfered new entourage onto imac - -went through same messages. Threw out entire microsoft office and using the macbook put in new office . Same thing happens . entouage always says "cannot access data. by the way - the entourage on the macbbok works fine although I haven't used it to download mail trying to stave off previous problem.  - How can I save/extract Entourage 2004 e-mails in MIME format? I am looking for a way to save Entourage 2004 e-mails (all pieces of the e-mail: the e-mail itself and attachments, if there are any) in MIME format. Is there a converting tool or a generic way to accomplish this?  - Importing messages from Outlook 2003 to Entourage Can anyone please tell me how to move my email messages from Outlook 2003 to Entourage. I just purchased my new Macbook (w / Core2Duo). Here is what the Apple Help Desk said, but it doesn't work. I have archived all my Outlook 2003 email to .pst files. I have moved them to an external drive. The external drive (via USB) is readable by my Mac. Apple Help said that i was going to just be able to 'read them or move them' into an Entourage folder....hogwash...unless I'm doing something wrong. Pls advise. FYI....if Steve J wants to help 'conversions' from the 'dark side' this very, very basic stuff should be clear / simple and known by all Apple HELP desk folks. I had to talk to 3 of them before I found someone who even knew what a .pst file was.....duuuuuuuuuuh. Sorry for the cynical comments.  - View options in Address Book & Tasks I'm one of the ex-Outlook users who really misses the Address Card view, with the alphabetical tabs to find contacts or tasks. If we can't have this, what about the facility to View by Group, just like you have for mail messages, and group by (for address book) alphabet letter, category, and (for tasks) by category, due date, status. By the way, the 'status' in Tasks is really useful and having a Project Centre isn't a replacement. I used the Task Status to drive all sorts of things.  - Entourage won't save Passwords... Keychain interaction? Hi, I recently added a new account, and was advised that the sending and receiving mail servers needed to be different - however when I tried to configure the new account, I discovered that the passwords had either been changed for existing accounts, and when I then tried to re-enter passwords, nothing would be saved in any of the accounts, even when 'save password' option is checked... I think there may be a problem with the interaction with Keychain Access - but I've tried deleting Keychains etc - quitting and restarting Entourage - however every time I restart Entourage, it asks for every password for each account again - which is obviously a big time-waster... Does any1 have any ideas about the interaction between Passwords & Keychains, or do I need to re-install Entourage to get things working again?  - Entourage won't quit I am having trouble with Entourage (Office 2004) on my new MacBook. Each time I go to quit the program I have to end up doing a force quit. Another issue is that when this application is open the fan runs at high speed all the time. I have updated everything there is to update. Is anyone else having the same problem?  - Remembering window positions Entourage 2004 does not retain the window position when opening email messages or replying to messages. They always appear at the top left side of the screen. For those with bifocals, this is a big inconvenience to drag each message to the bottom of their screen. Is it possible for Entourage to retain window locations?  - Entourage - View pane generates corrupt database error when certain message comes into view. In my inbox, I have an older e-mail, from May. In the viewing pane, as soon as I scroll down to this message, an error pops up saying my database may be corrupt. I have verified, and everything is fine. For kicks, I have even repaired a couple of times. And it successfully completes this task. However, WHENEVER I get to that message in the viewing pane, the error pops up. I can click Cancel and scroll away, and it will be fine. If I stay there, it will pop up a few moments later, ad nauseum. So how can I get rid of this message? I can't select it because that corrupt database error pops up. Also, the message is partially grayed out, just the top horizontal half.  - Empty Deleted Items Folder, scheduled run does not delete the items I have my schedule set to ON QUIT for the Empty Delelted Items Folder and it does not perform the function on quit.  - How can I copy message attachment history? I'm using the latest available version of Entourage as an Exchange email client. I can remove attachments to messages received through the Exchange account by copying the message to a local mail folder, then editing, then copying the message back to an Exchange account folder.  - Folder List View not remembered When I first used Entourage, after a restart it would always come back to the same screen layout that I had been using before. But for a long time now, I have to re-select Folders List in the View menu each time I start Entourage. I've tried trashing the preference file, and repairing permissions.  - Public calendars Our Exchange server publishes calendars as http://server/user/Calendar/. When I go for File -> Open Other User's Folder and select the calendar for the user's username, Entourage tells me that it could not find the folder for the user (giving the user's full name, presumably from the GAL). Is there some magic needed to browse another person's public calendar? I can browse to public folders and look at calendars like that, but I read the latest SP release note as offering the equivalent of adding another calendar in Outlook (without side-by-side display).  - help - attachment loss hello, we have more than 50 apple workstations with entourage and my colleagues reported me, that they have problems with forwarding mails with attachments. for example: they have in their inbox an email with 5 attachments. when they are forwarding this email to another person, the recipient only gets 3 attachments. this doesn't happen all the time, but I get 2 or 3 calls a week because of this problem. the recipients are external customers, not other colleagues. we use mac os x 10.4.7, office 11.2.5 and an exchange-server does anyone else have this problem and found a solution? thanks! regards, ferdinand Tag: Importing "rules" Tag: 71837

 - e-mail with wrong future date Hello, I have got an email in my folder that dates 12/20/2006, which is the wrong date as it is still November 2006.  - OWA session times out The Mac users (10.4.x) here making connections to OWA (Exchange 2003) with either Safari or FireFox, get their session 'timed-out' after about 10 minutes of idle time. Forcing them to re-authenticate. The server does have an idle time out setting applied, but it's much, much higher than that. The PC clients can hang out idle, up to the server specified time out setting. This is repeatable on many machines with various versions of Tiger. What's going on?  - Email Message aren't viewable I have created html formatted emails in asp.net that get sent out using Smtpmail.Send. It creates a two part mime email message that the body of the email does NOT viewable in Entourage. If you look at the source it is there, but it does not show. When looking at the source of the email. My opinion is that because it starts off with Content-Type: text/plain; then switches it to Content-Type: text/html; that this 2 part message confuses Entourage.  - iCal/E2004: how to force sync? How often does Entourage send info to the Sync database, and how frequently does iCal retrieve it? Is it upon quit or relaunch, or some other timed interval?  - Moving Entourage's Spotlight metadata I'd like to home Entourage's Spotlight metadata on an encrypted volume, but I would prefer not to use FileVault since it'll slow down every disk access in my home directory (and indeed it does). I've tried creating a symbolic link in ~/Library/Caches/Metadata called Microsoft that points to /Volumes/myvolume/Metadata and after switching on Spotlight searching, I do get to search my Entourage messages, etc. The problem is that with this setup, Entourage never adds to the cache. If I rebuilt the cache, nothing happens (that is, the old cache is not deleted). If I symlink ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage/2004/Main\ Identity to a directory on my encrypted volume and then rebuild, Entourage renames "Main Identity" to ".-Main Identity" and rebuilds a new cache in my home directory in the usual place.  - 8525 - Activesync Sent Messages to Mac Entourage Sent Box are garbled I know the issue below is a problem recognized by MS. The problem I have is that when I attach a .jpeg or a pdf file to a message the recipient receives the message but the attachment is just a mess of code and the accompanying error says 'This message is in MIME format. Does anyone here know how to essentially back up your "rules" for filtering
along with your identity so that if I should need to import my identity onto

I'm sorry to say that it just isn't possible - rules are not exportable, nor
are they available to AppleScript.

Us MVPs have been asking for this for some time, so we live in hope for
future versions!

You can send feedback to the developers on this issue. Use the last menu
item under the 'Help' menu - "Send Feedback on Entourage". This message will
go directly to the developers. The more people that request this feature the
more likely it is to be implemented.
