 - Error when configuring Entorage X (10.1.5) for Exchange I just installed a clean version of Office X and updated it to 10.1.5. I = verified with the tech department that the exchange server meets all=20 the requirements listed on the support site. I launched Entourage X,=20 and setup a new Exchange account... using all the same information I=20 used to use in OS9 to configure MS Outlook. Unfortunately once I save the account information I get an error: "Error occured on the IMAP server, -3260" and I can't get into my account. We tried alternate exchange server IP=20 addresses, by name and by IP. I pinged the server from my machine=20 and it shows up fine. I can still access my email through our web=20 interface (which I'm getting tired of)... but can't get Entourage to = work. Any suggestions?? Thanks. Steve Tag: Importing mail from Outlook Tag: 29459

 - Hiding problem Entourage seems to have some bug I wonder if anyone else has noticed. If you have six programs running and select to hide them all except Entourage, for some reason, when you then go to hide Entourage the hide Entourage option is grayed out. Also, If you six applications up and you go to Safari, and select hide others, then you come back to hide Safari, Entourage pops up! -- even though you may still want it to be hidden!  - Help! Ever since I signed up for this list, I am getting hundreds of emails that appear to be from microsoft. Somehow I got on some huge email lsit and can't get off, it keeps filling my email list to capacity and I can't get out of it. Does anyone know how to get off the email list?  - Calendar to Palm sync problem I'm using the latest version of Entourage and a Palm Tungsten T. I have had no problems syncing the two together before. Now, however, I notice that there is one small problem - events I've entered onto my Entourage calendar don't get transferred onto my T's datebook.  - Entourage Reminders I'm running OS 10.2.4 on a Powerbook, with Entourage X. Even though all of my calendar events have reminders they never pop up or make a sound. I'd prefer to not use the sounds and just have the reminder pop up as it did in previous versions of Entourage. Is there something in preferences that I'm not seeing?  - Exchange emails from Contacts I am running OS 10.2.8 and Entourage 10.1.4. My address book on Entourage lists all the data correctly from the Contacts on our Exchange server, except for email addresses that are not from the server's domain. When I go to Outlook and look up a person's listing, their email address is correct on the server, but when I access the same contact via Entourage's address book, it lists only their name and Other (as the type of email address).  - Entourage and Exchange - where are my contacts? I gotten Entourage 10.1.4 mostly working with Exchange 2000 SP3, and mail and calendar are fine. But the contacts from the exchange server are not visible on the Mac. I assume they should be in the Address Book, right? Is this related to IMAP? If I try to address a mail, put in just the name (when I know the contact exists on the server), and do "Check Names", I get "LDAP Server Error; No entries in the directory service match the search criteria; Error 10012". Is LDAP used to transfer contacts, or just for searching the Global Address List (or neither)?  - Entourage Password Changing Issues w/Exchange Server 2003 We are having a strange issue with password recognizing in Entourage. This is happening with both accounts we have setup on our exchange server 2003 and both machines are running OS 10.2.6 and Entourage/Office update version 10.1.5. The server/network password has been changed and we can login with Webmail, via the network, etc. but Entourage will not recognize the new password setting and is giving me a bad password or ID message. I have already multiple times changed the password in the account settings. I have deleted and recreated the exchange profile in Entourage and gone into the OSX keychain file and deleted all references to exchange. I have also done a typical and advanced rebuild of entourage and a reset synchronization in the account itself. Is their a file I can delete or something else anyone can suggest to help or try.  - Entourage Error 1025 I have been using Entourage for awhile and we just reloaded the OS on the xServe 3 weeks ago. When I try to get my messages to my in box Entourage returns an error Mail could not be received at this time. The explanation is The server returned the following error. 497 Fetch failed: Server volume is full. Please alert your administrator. Error:1025 I am the admin and I know the server is not full. I assume there is a problem with Entourage retrying to collect mail and has encountered something that maybe corrupt? Squirrel mail returns message Could not complete request Reason given 497 Fetch Failed. Is there a way to fix this? Apple mail reads the incoming mail without any problems.  - entourage quits unexpected when reading HTML mail Since I have installed Jaguar (10.2.8) Entourage quits whenever I open an e-mail with HTML content (i.e. an internet page).  - Hotsync problem after OS 10.2 upgrade I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.2, and am now having hotsync problems. Upon trying to hotsync, I'm greeted with the following message: Transport Monitor Conduit Manager could not be found. It must be located in the same folder as HotSync Manager for proper operation. But both Conduit Manager and Hotsync Manager *are* in the same folder(!): HardDrive/Applications/Palm Updating to the latest Office version (10.1.5) and Entourage Conduit hasn't changed the situation.  - migrating from Mac Entourage to XP outlook? Hi all, I am currently using Entourage as my e-mail client on a Powerbook running OS 9.2. I will have to move all my data from the Mac to a Windows XP based laptop shortly. While most of my documents (word, pdf, etc) does not pose a problem, I have been unsuccessfully trying for the last few days to find any information on how to get my emails, contacts, rules, etc. from Entourage into Outlook on Windows XP. The only information I could find on this topic so far is a short and disappointing 'not possible. Since both Entourage and Outlook are Microsoft products I am still hoping to find a more satisfying answer to the problem. Your help would be greatly appreciated.  - Connecting to exchange - viewing exchange folders We have recently implemented an exchange server in our office. I have tried to connect several Entourage (v10.1.4) to the exchange server. I get the error "Could not connect to free/busy server". I am unable to access the free/busy information when scheduling an appointment from an Entourage client. Also, Entourage interprets the Exchange calendar, task, note, and public folders as email folders, instead of showing the correct views for each.  - 4363 error and problems rebuilding Error 4363 occurred during send/receive. I attempted to recover from this by doing an advanced rebuild. But when the advanced rebuild started I could not see any reference to advanced rebuild in the dialog box that displayed the status so I thought I must have made a mistake in selecting advanced (It would have been nice if I had been asked to confirm what type of rebuild I wanted) so I clicked the CANCEL button. Shortly after that I got a message that the rebuild had completed. I decided to retry the operation being careful to click the advance radio button. The rebuild proceeded the same way ... no feedback that it was an advanced rebuild. It finished in about the same time ... a few minutes. The original database was around 370 Mb, but this rebuilt database was around 150Mb. When I checked the contents a LOT of the messages were missing. Could this because I CANCELled the first rebuild?  - Unable to open database After replacing my hard drive, I moved my Users folder to the new drive and reinstalled Office X. After doing this, I am not able to open Entourage, as it states that it cannot access the database and wants to rebuild it. Doing either a routine or advanced rebuild does nothing useful and Entourage quits. I've repaired permissions, restarted, did chmod 777 on my Microsoft User Data folder, but nothing works. The interesting thing is that if I insert the original Office X CD (I had been running Office 10.1.3), the original version of Entourage opens the database just fine. Going back to the verson on my hard drive produces the same round of error messages. The database is fine, as demonstrated by the ability of the CD-based application to open it.  - Problems replying to messages I'm trying to use Entourage as a client on an MS Exchange email server. I've got everything configured properly and I can send and recieve emails just fine. Only problem I have is replying to and forwarding emails. When I try to do this I get a "relaying not allowed" kind of message back from the server. My LAN manager, who takes a dim view of my putting a Mac on his network, tells me that this is due to an intentional configuration seting on Exchange Server so that we don't get outsiders using our server to forward spam and such. Of course, I don't have this problem on my Win machine, where we use Outlook. Which tells me that there must be a way to do this with Entourage. So my question is: Anyone have any ideas how I can configure Entourage so that I can reply to and forward mail messages? Any help I can get in doing this will be greatly appreciated and returned in kind, to the extent that I am able. Please start a new thread and give a summary of your problems and what you have tried. You have database problems. If you can open, then you need to drag each folder to the desktop (see script below). This saves as an MBOX file. This will save your messages. ============================= Export Folders Author: Barry Wainwright Entourage has the ability to export a folder full of messages as an industry standard 'UNIX-like' Mailbox format (MBOX file). This is a quick and easy way of archiving mail out of Entourage, either for routine backup or when changing mail porgrammes. However, if you have a lot of folders, frequently nested several levels deep, this process becomes a tedious and time consuming one. The file that has reached it's end is often the preferences file. Move the 'Microsoft' folder out of your local preferences folder and try again. If this fails, "end of file" means the file is too corrupted to rebuild. Do you have the original 2.28GB database file that has not been rebuilt? Be sure to keep this original and make copies for any rebuilding. If you have a database that will open, you can try reducing the database by dragging folders to the desktop. Apple mail runs fine.. It then displays the screen with the typical and Advanced rebuilding as the choices of action. I have tried both types of rebuilds. The typical rebuild says it can't be done and to use the Advanced Rebuild. I select this Advanced Rebuild approach and it reaches the 4GB limit in the rebuilding process. I used the original and fresh back-up copy saved from before the restart. Any ideas on how I can access my Entourage email? I have used Disk Warrior top create a large continguous space. There is also more than 6 Gig's of space on the same hard drive I am attempting to rebuild the Entourage database on. So space to rebuilding this should not be the problem. The Advanced rebuilding process is not working fully despite the rebuild saying the database was successfully rebuilt. When checking the rebuilt database it say's it is 4 Gig's. When I attempt to start-up Entourage it located the new database and says it reached the 4 Gig limit and is full and suggest's to do a typical rebuild. All your experiences and suggestions are most greatly welcome to get my email program operational with this original database. My other thoughts include export to another email program. Does anyone know which email accounts can import Entourage email database files? Mail perhaps?  - Entourage-Exchange "infinite" appointment I had an exchange account set up in Entourage X (v10.1.4) with my old company. Calendar events were synced. I left that company and removed that account. I have found two events still in my calendar from that company. The first one I was able to delete. The second one seems to have an infinite number of copies of the same event (six copies are visible on the calendar). No matter how many times I try to delete this event, there remain 6 copies showing. I've tried turning off sync, resetting sync, rebuilding the database, but nothing works. The most annoying part of the symptoms is that entourage takes 5-10 seconds to delete a copy, or to even select the month or day of this bizzare event.  - Entourage X Attachments Fail to Send Entourage X 10.1.4 seems unable to send any message that includes an attached file over about 33KB. Anything larger, and the sending progress stalls, eventually reporting "Network Error -3155". I can send large attachments fine with Apple Mail or using webmail.  - Replying and forwarding emails HI, When I hit reply to an email, it always puts the cursor right at the " On 10/13/03 2:42 PM" date and time stamp with initial meesage below it. This is kind of irritating because I want a couple of spaces between my reply and the initial message I'm replying to, but Entourage automatically puts it right at the reply stamp. Is there any way to make a little space? In outlook express it always automatically makes a couple of spaces between the two. Also, when forwarding emails, my signature always comes up at the top, before the forwarded message, this doesn't work for me. Is there a way to get the stamp to appear at the bottom of the entire message when forwarding, or jsut have it not come up at all for forwarded messages?  - Writing anti-spam rules Folks: I've followed the instructions at http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/rules_junk.html#Anchor-Junksubjects and done pretty well using just my own rules using junk subjects and body phrases. Some questions: 1) Is there a way writing rules that will pass through html formatted message (which some friends and colleagues use) but detect and allow me to toss any messages containing graphics? Ooops, there's exactly one exception: I get some useful material from a Yahoo mailing list and these contain advertisement graphics. I guess I'd need to sort these out first, right, via an earlier-run rule. 2) To what degree does the "message body" criteria monitor the content of html messages? For example, I know I can detect "financial freedom" in a text message, but I'm less sure if it is detectable as part of an html message. (Yes, I'm aware of methods for obscuring text, e.g. "F|r|e|e|d|o|m", and I don't expect method in the current generation to detect these.) It may be that the built-in Junk Mail Filter does some or all of this, but the Office help isn't very specific about how it works, and neither the Mactopia site or the KnowledgeBase seems to have anything about it. I don't want to use it unless I understand it better. So... 3) Can anyone say more about what the "Junk Mail Filter" works, e.g. How it detects forged headers, and so on?  - Scrambled IMAP Inbox For the past two or three weeks, I've had the following problem: Sometimes when I am deleting or moving messages from my .mac IMAP Inbox, one message will simply "take over" another message, duplicating itself and changing everything EXCEPT the message category. This last bit is what made me notice it: I suddenly had messages in categories which made no sense. The second message is just gone from Entourage, leaving two copies of the first message, often in different categories. This usually seems to happen to messages adjacent in the Inbox when I act on one or the other. It does not always happen, maybe one out of ten or one out of twenty messages. When I go in and look at the IMAP account using OSX Mail App, nothing has changed, both messages still have their original content. At that point, if the Entourage-scrambled message is important, I just forward it to a POP account. I have now done an advanced rebuild on the Entourage database three times. Each time the IMAP inbox reloads correctly, but I get the corruption within a day or two. The only recent changes I had made before this started happening were Office X 10.1.5 and OSX 10.2.8.  - blocking email I'd like to be able to block all email messages from certain extensions, i.e. @abcdefg.com. Can I do that? I used Outlook2mac and created MBOX text files and moved those over to my
new powerbook when I run the import function for MBOX files in Entourage the
files I bring over are not selectable?

Please, please, everyone; try to remember to state what version of OS &
Office you are using. It makes it so much easier to give relevant advice
when we know your environment.

You don't need to use the import function - just drag the MBOX file into the
folder listing in Entourage
