I am brand new to this type of communication, so bear with me. I
recently purchased my first Mac and want to import my outlook files
into Entourage from my PC over a network. The software says I can
import the files, but it doesn't say I can do it over a network. Is it
possible? In preparation I exported my outlook files to my desktop. My
thinking is to start the import from the Mac and when it asks for the
location of the file just point towards the file over the network
connection. Does that sound logical? The second question is whether I
want to use Entourage at all. Is it better to just use the other
programs Mac already has?

As to which programme - most of us are here because we already chose
Entourage, so you won't be surprised to see that one suggested :)

If you have an exchange account you were using with outlook, then entourage
is definitely the better bet - much better exchange integration, and there
are promises of a huge improvement in calendars and public folders promised
for an update later this year.

As for importing, there is no direct import for data from outlook, but it
can be achieved in many ways. If you have access to the exchange server,
simply connect entourage to it and it will download all the data. Otherwise,
see here for some suggestions:
