I used to work in a PC office environment and now I am in a Mac office environment. I have almost 600 business contacts that I would like to import into Entourage.

I exported the contacts from Outlook into a CSV file, but the only things that got imported into Entourage were the name, cell phone and e-mail.

I don't want to have to retype almost 600 contacts. How do I get the fields to match up?

Simplest way I found:

Create an empty folder on your desktop.
Open Outlook Contacts. From the Edit menu, Select All.
Drag all your contacts to the empty folder. This will create vCards in the
empty folder for each contact and may take a few minutes.
Move the vCards to your Mac thumb drive or whatever
Open the Entourage Contacts screen. Select all the vCards and drag them into
the contacts window.

Good luck, Joel

Do you have the iMac Address Book. First I opened the csv file in Excel and
the imported that into the Address Book which is synched or linked, or
whatever with the Entourage address book. What I dislike about the Entourage
address book is that I can¹t seem to set up folders to segregate the ?cards¹
into separate topics such as friends, family, business etc.
Also when it comes to combining multipart usenet image files, there is no
way to do that as was done in Outlook Express.
Also Entourage has a Microsoft bad habit of crashing suddenly. Fortunately,
the iMac is capable of gathering the error information and forwarding to
whomever may be actually interested in that sort of of stuff, and then
immediately reload Entourage.
I only bought the student/home version of Office 2008 for iMac because I
wanted a word processor that I was used to. I should have saved my money.
The lack of any real customer support by MS is BS, just another example of
big business blowing off customers who provide them with their income.

Entourage can import a .csv file. Import text file.

Assign categories to each contact. Then sort by category.

That's true. Entourage newsreader is very basic.

I rarely crash. You need to give details on your problems. It's not always
Entourage's fault.
