I¹m running Office 2004, upgraded from Office X three months ago. Here is what I am doing: In the main inbox, I receive mail from three different mail accounts. I have set up rules to color-code (assign a category) so that messages from particular e-mail addresses are designated to the proper category. It works fantastic in the main inbox. However, I also have subfolders to the main inbox that receive mail to a particular e-mail address. So I have my main ³earthlink² account in the main inbox, and then in the subfolders to the inbox, I have secondary e-mail addresses for business and private interests. I cannot get the color-coding or assigning categories to work in the subfolders, even though the rules are set up correctly. So if I get an e-mail from John Smith sent to my main e-mail address (that is delivered to the inbox folder in entourage), it correctly shows up as RED and in the proper category. If John Smith sends me an e-mail to a secondary e-mail address (which in turn is delivered not to the main inbox, but to the subfolder), the category is not assigned and the e-mail is not properly color coded. Is there some preference that needs to be set for categories to be assigned and applied in subfolders? Is this a bug in Entourage that just needs to be fixed? Or is it a feature that is not yet available in Entourage 2004? It seems rather strange that the logic is there within the system, and it works for the main inbox, yet when I try to apply the rule to a subfolder with a different e-mail address, it won¹t work. As an aside, it¹s not based on the e-mail address from what I can tell. If I have all my mail directed to the main inbox (and not to the subfolder automatically), the color coding works fine.  - Font Size I'm used to having Monaco 11 in my Mac mail for composing as well as reading email. Entourage however does not have size 11 in it's dropdown. It has 9,10 and the directly 12. Although not a show stopper, it does feel weird to have different size texts in my emails. Is there anyway I can set it to size 11 in Entourage ? Maybe by changing some plist file directly ?  - Entourage Sub-Account Folder Receiving Distinction I have always used "Verizon" for my work email and "Hotmail" for my personal email. In recent months I have had a number of people say they sent emails to the "Hotmail" account, but I never received them. So I decided to use a Verizon sub-account as my home email. The only problem here is that all my emails (work & personal) appear in my "Inbox window" together. I know that I can have the "Inbox" sort it by account, but I do not want both "work" and "personal" emails shown in the same "Inbox" at the same time. When I had the "Hotmail" account they would appear separately and only be shown in the "Inbox Window" when I clicked on the "Hotmail folder" in the "folder list".  - search problem in address book When I type an 'a' to go to the 'a' file in my address book it goes to the top of the list, which in my case are miscellaneous email addresses without a personal name followed by company names without a personal name.  - Remember Window positions? Hello all I'm trying out Office 2004 (test drive) and would like to know if there's any way to force the applications to remember window locations. For example, when I compose an email the compose window pops up in the top left of my screen. I drag this to the centre - where I prefer it to be - but this is never remembered.  - Entourage sending all mail to Deleted Items folder Yesterday my Entourage began sending all mail to my deleted items folder. The account (POP - comcast.net) had been working for months without problem. I haven't added a new rule, or done anything that I know of to start this behavior.  - Exchange 2003 Hi, Entourage won't see our Exchange 2003 server. We upgraded the network to Windows/Exchange 2003 from Exchange 5.5 Before I connected using imap, now this won't even work. I am bound to Active Directory running latest version of everything. I can ping the aerver name ok, and everyone else (using PC's) are = working=20 fine. Is there something I'm missing here?  - Moving email from an old IMAP account to a current POP account I have two e-mail accounts in Entourage for Mac OS X: a POP account that is for my current company and an IMAP account from my old company. How do I move an e-mail folder from the IMAP account on my computer (not from the IMAP Exchange server) over to the POP account set of folders on my computer? My problem is I no longer have access to the old company's IMAP Exchange server. Consequently, when I try to drag or copy an e-mail from the IMAP account over to the POP account, my computer attempts to access the old IMAP exchange server and gets an error message. Once I succeed in moving the few folders I want to retain, I then want to delete the old IMAP account entirely from my computer. Is there any trick to doing this?  - Printing address book -- page sizes I've just gone through the whole nightmare of switching over from = Outlook=20 on a PC to Entourage on a Mac, and now I find what looks like a major=20 dificiency in Entourage. Outlook provides a huge list of format options = to=20 print every size of Filofax and Day Runner page. Entorage, however, = seems=20 to provide formats for only a few of the available page sizes. In fact, = the=20 most popular size -- the approx 3.5" x 6.5" Day Runner page -- doesn't=20 seem to be supported at all. Am I missing something here?  - Sending through Distribution list to an Outlook w/forwarding causes dupilcate email Has anyone run into this problem. An email sent on Entourage 2004 to a distribution list gets duplicated and resent to the distribution list. This ONLY occurs if someone on the distribution list has their outlook account setup to forward to a different non-exchange email account.  - 'Could not open that feature' error I could really use some help. I have recently switched over to OS X = Server=20 10.3, and all my workstations to Panther as well. I tell this because I = believe=20 it has bearing. I also set up a directory domain which handles = authentication=20 for the workstations, and the server maintains the home directories as = well.=20 If I log into locally to a machine and create an account, the account = works=20 fine. However, if I log into an account that resides on the server and = create a=20 new Exchange account in Entourage 2004, all seems okay until I close = the=20 software and reopen it. As soon as I do I get the message 'Could not = open=20 that feature,' and Entourage quits. Repeated attempts generally give the = same error, and occasionally I get a bad database error, which a rebuild = has=20 no affect on.=20 I thought it was an authentication error at first, but I do not believe = it is even=20 getting that far. Now I think perhaps a permissions problem with where = the=20 files are, or that Entourage is having problems locating the folder = where the=20 database resides. However, I do have one account that is set up this = way=20 that is working. The first 2 times I set it up, it had the problem = described=20 above, but the third time the machine seized, and after I rebooted it = worked=20 fine. The setups are identical between the two accounts. I could go on and on, but I will stop here. Does anyone know of a known=20 issue with doing things this way or have any ideas? Thanks.  - Entrouage 2004: Duplicate IMAP Messages/Won't Delete Just to add my voice to the chorus of those experiencing this problem. =20 As I have been upgrading the macs in our offices to Office 2004, and we=20 have begun to experience this problem, repeatedly. I know the fix - = repair=20 message list and if that doesn't work empty cache and download again. =20 That's fine if it happens occasionally, but at least a third to one half = of users=20 have reported this bug. That's not good news. I would like to add that 2004 HAS fixed some other sporadic but vexing=20 crashing issues that were being experienced with Entourage X, but I hate = to=20 see those problems replaced by another problem. Is this issue likely to = be=20 addressed in future updates to 2004? It would be nice to have the basic = mail functions of Entourage (via IMAP) run smoothly for once.  - Holiday Color Coding - Calendar I am attempting to have different colors for Christian, Islamic, Jewish, and US Holidays. I have tried changing the colors on the default categories, adding new categories, and every other thing I can think of, but they keep defaulting back to the same pinkish color for ALL holidays.  - Entourage 2001 won't access Hotmail email account 1. For years, I have used Ent 2001 (and Mac OS 9.1) to access free Hotmail accounts to receive and send email. Suddenly, in the last week, I am no longer able to receive and send email via Ent 2001 in any of my free hotmail accounts. I've read that Hotmail has terminated the ability of Outlook and Outllook Express from accessing the free hotmail accounts. I've read that some Outlook users are even having access problems with their paid hotmail accounts. But that is unclear. I've now sent a message to Hotmail Tech Support and am waiting an answer to see if they have terminated access via Entourage. I suspect so. Has anyone heard definitively? 2. The Ent and Hotmail combination worked before the last couple of days, however very poorly--see below. Old Problem: In previous years, I had spent months unsuccessfully trying to resolve why Ent 2001 would STALL from receiving and sending email from multiple hotmail accounts. Ent would access my one Earthlink account without problem and speedily. Neither Ent Tech Support, nor Hotmail Tech Support, (nor this group), was ever able to find a cure. The painful work-around for years has been to make schedules that process to only 1-3 hotmail accounts at a time. This usually works 90% of time, but still gets STALLED on occasion. Then I have to quit and restart Ent (and sometimes restart the computer) in order to "clear" the STALL. I've been living with this work-around for years, but now I suspect that Ent will not work with Hotmail accounts at all (at least not free accounts). I use multiple accounts to separate my life and to separate high-spam accounts from low-spam. Now I suspect that I will have to terminate my long relationship with Hotmail.  - Entourage 2004 attempts to dial while online using bluetooth While online using broadband via ethernet or wireless, I have no problem sending and receiving mail. But when I'm online using bluetooth and a cell phone modem and attempt to send or receive mail, Entourage attempts to dial using the internal modem and then tells me my connection has failed because I've failed to enter a telephone number.  - Japanese dictionary In Entourage 2004 the Japanese dictionary is not available in the preferences. I tried to use "Language Register" but no change (all the others Japanese features are activated but not the dictionary and the spelling check in Japanese).  - Why is Entourage moving my messages? I'm perplexed by Entourage's behavior moving messages from one folder to another. Some messages from my IMAP folder are filed into my "Folders on My Computer" Inbox. I don't have any rules set up to do so, and have disabled Junk Mail filtering but I'm still seeing it. Are messages that don't initially have address book entries handled differently? How do I change this behavior?  - Entourage 2004 will not send/recieve Pop account Hi after upgrading fro X to 2004 my accounts will not send and recieve. I get error (114) Unknown error I have checked the mail account and it is set up correctly.  - SMTP issues all of a sudden Today, it would seem that Comcast started blocking port 25, making it impossible to send e-mail from .Mac using port 25 to smtp.mac.com. I can send using smtp.comcast.net, without authentication, however. This is fine, except that I also need to send mail from my .mac account at work and other places, and must now change the smtp server settings in Entourage each time I change location (which I have never had to do!). Using smtp.mac.com and other ports do not work since these apparently are not supported (like SSL) at comcast. Any suggestions, other than changing my SMTP settings each time I'm using my iBook at a different location?  - "Could not open communications device" My Mac's OS is X 10.3.5. I installed MS Office 2004 for Mac over the = top of=20 existing MS Office X. Problem: with dial-up internet connection running = and=20 browser working fine, Entourage 2004 cannot receive or send email!  - Selected Communications Device does not exist Hi Guys, Yes .... I know that there have been many emails about this problem. Simply put ... I'm running 10.3.5 with Office 2004 and Entourage. When connected either through either wired Ethernet or airport, everything is great. When I connect through my analog modem, I can access the internet fine but when Entourage tries to connect, I get the following error "The selected communications device does not exist. Please verify your setting and try again." As per multiple emails, I have re-ordered my Port configurations order to have my Analog Modem first ... It doesn't appear to make ANY difference. Help!  - Emails take ages to download Can anyone help me solve the problem of why emails that need to access pictures from a server are taking so long to download? Two newsletters i sign up to can take up to five minutes to load on Entourage. the same newsletters have no problem popping up in OSX Mail.  - Deleted Entourage account by mistake. How to restore it? I have inadvertently deleted my personal Entourage account while trying to add a new one! I was in the window where you can add, rename and delete accounts and deleted it by mistake. I have not touched the computer, nor closed Entourage, the window is still open but I don't know how to restore my account as there is no option to go back and restore it. What to do?  - Snooze Next AM; Internet Headers I first noticed these issues when I was using Entourage X; I was hoping that Entourage 2004 would fix the problems, but it didn't. 1. I can no longer get Office Notifications to remind me of a non-recurring event when I say "Snooze Until Tomorrow Morning." (Recurring events will snooze until tomorrow morning.) All Time/Date System Preferences are correct; I even installed a new battery (G4-933) and rebuilt the Entourage database. (There are no multiple copies of Daemon in the Startup Items either.) 2. I have "Show Internet Headers" selected in the Mail and News Preferences "View," but I see no internet headers. (The "Internet Headers" is grayed out under the Entourage View menu whether or not I have the option enabled in the preferences.) I'm convinced that some Entourage preference must be corrupted which would explain why the imported preference during the 2004 update didn't eliminate the problem that started in X. Aside from assigning a message to the junk folder, does the junk e-mail button in Entourage 2004 create some sort of filter such that if I ever receive another message from the same address it will be immediately filtered to the junk folder? I've checked Entourage help and it doesn't have any information about this and the way I see it, if it doesn't do this it's about as useful as a simple delete button...  - "Cancelled" added before invitations For the first time with version 2004, went to send invitations from an = event=20 created from an email. All was great but the time that was automatically = entered needed to be fixed to the correct time.  - hidden spam addresses When I went to send an email in Entourage 2004, and I pressed the letter = "P"=20 for example, a list of addresses beginning with "P" popped up.  - Basic "how to add newsletter to outbound email" I'm certain that the instructions on how to add formated documents, like = a=20 newsletter, to the text section of an outbound email are right under my=20 nose. I just can't see the forest for the trees. I want to take a formated document (produced in Word or Publisher) and=20 copy it into the text area of mail. How do people do this? My testing is being done with one of the proformated newsletter samples = in=20 Word. After replacing the data with the information I want in the = document,=20 I do a SELECT ALL, copy, and paste in the message area in Entourage, but = all=20 I get is unformatted text.  - I am a premium Hotmail subscriber so why won't Entourage work with Hotmail Yeah I know the new Hotmail scam under the vail of spam but I am on the premium plan. I paid my $19.99 and have been happily using my hotmail account with Entourage 2001 under Mac OS 9.2 for some years but that all came to a screaching halt on Sept. 23rd and I have not recovered after well in excess of six hours of my life trying. This is unacceptable but what's worse is that Hotmail are referring this problem to Microsoft product support as if it were an Entourage issue. Hello Mags,

-From your mail it appears like you have configured .mac account.
-Check for the SMTP settings on your account.
-If you are using .mac account then try entering smtp.mac.com under SMTP in
your account settings.
-Still if you find problems the getting the SMTP address from your ISP and
try entering the same under SMTP in your account settings.
