 - Viewing Global Address list in Entourage X We have Exchange 2003 running in Native mode. Several Mac Clients who upgraded from Outlook 2001 for Mac to Entourage X. We are not able to view the global address list as we did in Outlook 2001 for Mac. In the TO field for new emails, it pops up a list of users as you type in a name. Under the "Directory Services" window we are able to search for names. But we can not view an out-right list like in Outlook for Windows or 2001 for Mac. Is this an undocumented feature of Entourage?  - files in Project Center show up as contents.xml? Since there is no way to organize tasks in Entourage (sub-tasks, order of tasks, etc.) I have been using OmniOutliner Pro for project planning, and copying current tasks into Entourage projects as needed. This has been working wonderfully for me so far (although I'd like to be able to automate creating an Entourage task from a line in Outliner, but that's another issue.) I especially like viewing project plan files in the Files section of the Project Center views. It makes it very slick to open the plan outline while looking at other project information. Unfortunately, as of today, when I create a new Outliner file and save it in a Finder Watch Folder the file does not show up in the Project Center window in Entourage. Instead, a file called contents.xml appears. When I click on this file (single click, not double click) it launches an ap called Property List Editor, although no window or document appears to be open. I am baffled. Old Outliner files appear as normal, only new Outliner files do this. New Word and Excel files appear normally as well. I have repaired permissions, verified and rebuilt the Entourage database, and restarted the machine. I don't recall installing any updates to either Entourage or Outliner recently. This may be purely an Outliner issue, and I'm trying their tech support forums as well - but if anyone has any clue as to why this might occur, or what the "contents.xml" files are, or what the Property List Editor is I would be most appreciative. thanks for any insight!  - How to Turn off AutoCorrect/Capitalization in Entourage 2004 Mac? Hello all, Whenever I copy (sync) my entourage database file from my desktop to my laptop and vice versa, it automatically turns on autocorrect...even though the box in preferences (check spelling as I type) is not checked.  - Entourage 2004: Archiving of Mailbox on Exchange Server I am posting this in the hope that someone will be able to assist me finding some information regarding how to configure the 'archiving' function in Entourage 2004. I have three Apple users, who all use Entourage 2004 to connect to their mailboxes which are currently held on a server running Exchange 2000 Server (will be migrated to a server running Exchange Server 2003). I am looking to setup some form of archiving, so they can archive the old Entourage data - in the same way as you do with the 'Auto Archive' feature in Outlook 2003 on a Windows XP client.  - Reply To header Entourage 2004 I can see how to create a fixed Reply To header for every email going through a certain account but what I need to do is be able to choose between different options on a per email basis. At school, I cannot use the school SMTP for emails I am sending from my own personal email account so I need to send these from the school address with my own email address as the Reply To address. However, if I am sending an email on school business, then I do not need a separate Reply To address. So, can I choose to have a Reply To header on a per email basis? Tag: HELP!  - Customise Views in Entourage 2004 99% of my work and my calendar entries are between 09.00 and 16.00 so I do not want to give up either screen real estate or room on printouts to other hours of the day.  - Palm conduit for Entourage AND iCal ?!?! I just blew $40 on Missing Sync, as the developer's website gave me the impression that I would be able to simultaneously sync Entourage and iCal data. My assumption was that the application had a way to allow the two respective conduits to function in harmony. I keep thousands of contacts in Entourage but all my event info in iCal. I'm desperate for a way to get it all on to my Treo in a single sync, without having to first migrate data from app to the other via a Berkowitz sync script. Does anyone know of a conduit that can handle both Entourage and iApps at once? Alternately, has anyone tried running the Entourage conduit and iSync 2.0 conduit simultaneously in Missing Sync, by taking care to set them so that they aren't both targeting the same data point on the handheld? (By which I mean not trying to sync both Entourage and Apple Address Books to the handheld at once, which would obviously be a problem... I'm talking strictly about different types of data).  - Can Receive, but Can't Send I am currently on the road and can receive messages both through Airport and through an Ethernet port, but I can't send messages.  - Disappearing mail We are running microsoft exchange server. Some of our users use a MAC and a PC and would like their mail to appear in both places. I have set up the account for entourage 2004 and outlook 2000 but when new mail appears it is delivered to both places and then, within seconds, disappears from entourage.  - Will MS ever drop the concept of ONE database? What are our chances to see a database in Entourage we can actually manage in it's individual items, instead of having one (potentially huge) chunk? I really would like to move only my account to another Mac and not all other stuff, or have Retrospect backing up only select folders, or avoid to loose EVERYTHING in case the database gets corrupted?  - Entourage crashing - unable to read emails - various error messages HELP! We came back from lunch this afternoon to find Entourage has developed a serious problem that is stopping us viewing any of our email folders. It's behaving as if it has been effected by a virus of some sort, so I'm thinking that there may be an email that has come in while we were out that has infected it. What happens is that immidietly the programme loads up we get the message "Could not open that feature. An error has occured (-116)". This message is repeated everytime you try and view a folder and the main window just doesn't display properly. We've also had two other error message a four didgit number 2XXX (didn't write down, just remember it started with a 2) and a more vague text message. If you use the 'Mail Views' feature we can see some emails that have been flagged or marked, but we cannot see any of the new emails we have recieved or any of the main folders. We don't want to loose any of the emails we've recieved in the last 2 months (the last time we backed up) so before I re-install the programme I want to retrieve all of them (except the corrupt one obviously), but I can't find a way of getting in to the Main Identity database file - is this possible, or are they all bunched together and therefore doomed if one has a virus? Can anyone help? I've seen that people have had similar problems but none seem quite as sever and none of the suggested solutions work for us as we can't get to anything.  - Error -3253 with IMAP Hi, I am receiving a recurring error when using Entourage 2004 with my ISP IMAP server. Every 10 mins the following error occurs : "Connection to the server failed or was dropped. Mail could not be received at this time. Error: -3253" Spoke with my ISP, and they are unsure of the issue. I have a repeating schedule (send receive all) set to 5 mins. Have tried increasing the schedule to 10+ mins with still the same errors.  - Sorting by Date Within Subject?? Hi, Is there some way to set Entourage 2004 to sort by "ascending" date order when you have it sorted by Subject? I mean - if I choose "Subject" for the sort field, it shows them all by threads - but within each thread, they are "backwards" - meaning the first post in the thread is at the BOTTOM instead of the TOP of that thread's "section" - this is really weird to work with because I have to keep clicking "Previous" instead of "Next" when I want to read the next message within that thread in the order they came in!  - Saving all Messages in Sent Mail Problem Hi, I'm using Entourage 2004 for Mac, 11.1.0, running OS 10.2.8. With the previous version (Entourage X) this problem did not happen. But ever since I upgraded to 2004, I can NOT turn off the "store outgoing messages in Sent Mail folder" option. I will uncheck it, restart, etc., etc., but no matter what I've tried it STILL puts every single message I send out into the "Sent Mail" folder! Is there some way to turn this off?!! I mean it's unchecked! So why does it still do it?! I send out so much e-mail each day that it's really aggravating to have to then "clean up" my Sent Mail folder manually - deleting the 99% that I do not want to keep in there... Help!!! Thanks!  - Entourage Crashing I have Entourage 2004 11.1.0. OSX 10.3.9 I have installed all the patches and updates that I can find. My problem is that when I reply or forward or even do a new message and I click on the to box and type in the name of the person I want to send to the Entourage crashes. This happens only when I type in 2 letters and then pause for a second. Now the interesting part is this, if I type in the name as fast as I can, it will not crash. Example: I type in Je then I wait a second and it will crash. if I type in Jea then it works fine. It acts like it is something with the address book. Any suggestions on how to fix this?  - LDAP Directory Services and Entourage Hello! I have a question regarding how the Entourage LDAP Directory Services 'maps' to attributes in an LDAP server, in this case ADAM. I have an ADAM directory with entries with the following attributes: givenName, initials, name, mail, l, telephoneNumber, title, cn, and company, displayName I have my Directory Services in Entourage configured and working properly to access this LDAP server. My question is, I want to include more data in LDAP to be displayed when you open the 'ldap contact record'. What I do not know, is the mapping of attributes in that contact record and attributes in ADAM. For example, l(locality) in ADAM is displayed in the 'City' field in the 'Work tab' for the contact. title in ADAM is displayed as 'Job Title'. Company = Company, telephoneNumber = Work Phone, and mail = E-mail Address. I also see Custom 1 - Custom 8 displayed on the various tabs as well. So what I am looking for is a list of attributes found in a contact from the Entourage Directory Services Tool, and how they would map over into the ADAM LDAP directory. Thanks for any help!  - No Burning, just Solving Okay, I am a Mac/Win/*nix user, I am also the Systems Admin for m company. We have a windows infrastructure, because before OSX, man people were windows users... We have WindowsS2K and Exchange2K. I addition to this, we have a Blackberry Enterprise server with 45 user on it. Now however, I have 80 users on Entourage trying to get an accurat representation of what his happening on Exchange. All 10 of my window users are using Outlook 2003 because of ONE feature (the side by sid calendar thing). The problem is the Service Pack 2 implementation of WebDAV fo Exchange. I hear endlessly about how slow Entourage and Outlook are. have monitored the exchange servers every thread. We are on a Gigabi network. There is no backend bottleneck. So Entourage problems: Reply All includes original Recipient (Entourage doesn't know aliases) Checking email doesn?t work ? mail comes on Entourage?s schedule Entourage Calendar doesn?t seem to match blackberry (BB matches OWA). Calendar updates are not reflected in update messages (but fine i OWA). Deleted calendar meetings never go away (but fine in OWA) Difficulty changing meetings Only seeing used time blocks, not titles in Calendar HTML/RTF formatting rather than plaintext and vice/versa (users -gah) Multiple emails/invites when message is sent only once Must click the check names for invitees (no auto LDAP query) Must re-enter password over and over - restarting app helps Clearing email address cache I have had days where Entourage refuses to check mail, even afte restarting the app, reinstalling the app. This the one that brings m the most grief. I have 80 people who whole heartedly believe the serve is broken. They have no faith in the calendar or email on thei respective laptops. I am held accountable. I have been an Exchange Admin for nearly 10 years now. I have supporte thousands of users without a problem. Now, I am up against a wall. tried getting them to go to Outlook 2001, a MAPI client that works 100 of the time with 100% functionality. But they won't because its not pretty.  - Back ups, RGE files, database Utility, ... better way? I want to back up my entourage data -- email, contacts, calendar, ... What I have done before is go to the file menu, chose export and export to a .rge file and I keep that backup on a secondary hard drive. This morning I tried to do a backup and as the export was running I got an error message: "There was a problem saving one of your messages. Your Office database may be damaged. Start the database Utility to verify your database." I ran the database utility verification and it it tells me the database is fine. But when I try again to export I get the same error. So there is "nothing wrong" but I can't export the file. Any ideas? And is there a better way to keep a backup for safety sake?  - Virus in Database - Now what? Hi My virus program found the following file in the Entourage database: HTML.Phishing.Bank The Virus detection program isolates the entire database. I can't see any way of getting rid of that file without ditching the whole database and starting over again which is a lot of work to reset all the preferences, rules etc..  - Viewing messages in categories I must be missing something. I have Office 04, Entourage v11.1. I just assigned categories to some of my address book entries. Then, for my inbox messages, I selected view; arrange by, show in groups; by category. I also went to Preferences and made sure I checked: auto. match message categories to sender's categories.  - Suddenly expanding database This morning I had a problem with Entourage, the database daemon started using all available CPU resources. I had to force quit Entourage to get control back. I then did a verify on the database to see if there was a problem. There was so I did a rebuild. The resulting database was about 550MB. I continued to have problems during the day and I had to rebuild one more time at the end of the day. This time the database had increased to 698MB in size! I did not receive any significant emails today so it was not emails. So I went and looked at my calendar events. Suddenly there are 91,600 calendar events! These are all in the one category which I synchronize with the Exchange server at one of my clients. Some past events have over 50 entries for the one event and many of the events are not even in the particular category which is supposed to be sync'd! I have been using Entourage 2004 for synchronization with this server for months. This problem appears to have started today. What happened?  - Error 4362 and attachments I think I have pinned this down, and want to see if it is repeatable for others as it is for me. I get error 4362 in Erage 2004, but this happened in the past version as well. I think it only pertains to pop connections, but I can not be sure. Steps I do to reproduce consistantly: 1) Make new email message 2) address to someone 3) Enter subject 4) attach a few files 5) save 6) type body of message 7) send This is when I get the error, if I try to view source on the message, it will not allow it, if I try to save the message, I get just a bit of it, certainly no attachments are saved, no idea where they went. It is a little sporadic, but it does happen enough I just put on the attachments as the last step. This however, makes it hard to prepare a draft email and come back to it later then send it. I have to remove the attachments and go hunt them down again to re-attach them. I spoke with a friend using E-rage, which is a older version, and he also has the problem, to the point where he just does not use attachments until the last step. A second firend, in E-rage 2004 has it happen as well, though can not really provide much as to when, why, or how it happens. The MVP's website mentions in regards to this error things that seem to not relate at all. Suggestions, or at least, is this a known bug that is being worked out? Since it is such and old bug, I would guess it is not being looked at, so I aim to fix that. If only I could figure out how in the heck to send feedback like I used to.  - Entourage Calendar won't print! Yikes! I have now put all my scheduling into entourage (MS OFFICE 2004 - Student/teacher) and it will not print off either of my networked computers! Emails print fine. letters print (I think). Just the CALENDAR. System cinfiguration is as follows: 15" aluminum powerbook (OSX 10.3.9) wireless connect to airport base station with wired-connection to older IMAC (also OSX 10.3.9). Printer is epson stylus c86 (usb connected to base station) everything worked when I was using MS Office v.X, but when we got 2004 version now it won't print the calendar?  - Zipped attachments Our email servers automatically block .zip attachments to messages, both inbound and outbound. With Outlook in Windows, we can get around this for internal messages by changing the file extension to something else, and then changing it back again at the receiving end. This doesn't work with Entourage, but it may not be Entourage's fault, but the Mac OS (10.4, on my machine, but 10.3 on another user's machine.) If I change the zip to something like zip_ for instance, when I attach it to a message either the Mac OS or Entourage is appending another .zip, so I end up with foo.zip_.zip, which gets blocked at the server. The reason I suspect the OS may be doing it is that in the file access dialog with which I select the attachment, the file is labeled as a zip archive, even though the name is not correct.  - LDAP Server Error (-3248) and Slowness I have two identical 1.67 Ghz. PowerBooks w/1.5 GB of RAM running Mac OS 10.4.1. On both machines, when trying to access our company's global address list (check name) this error message comes up: An unknown error (-3248) occured. LDAP Server Error Both users are unable to access the GAL. Additionally, one of the users reports extreme slowness (beachballing) and repeated timeouts requiring him to login many times a day. I have excluded both users' Microsoft User Data folders from Spotlight indexing, but have had no luck yet. Any ideas? This has to be resolved soon or we will be forced to use Outlook in Classic.  - HELP! Entourage contacts disappeared after HotSync Can someone help or tell me what went wrong? I just installed Palm Desktop software on my Powerbook and then installed MS Entourage's Handheld Sync utility. I connected my Sony Clie SL-10 to the Mac's USB, and did a HotSync with it.  - Marking calender items as "private" in Ent2K4 Hello everyone! One of my users asked if there is a way in Entourage 2004 to mark items as "private", so other users can´t see them. I know that only users with delegated privileges actually can see them, but we have a piece of software that looks into the Exchange database and posts every calender-info on the intranet (Netwise, a telephone-exchange intranet-app) unless it´s marked as "private". But when I open Entourage I didn't notice the Help manager and I close it. But after all of my e-mail, my accounts, mail-list... are gone...  - Strange email addresses appear in Recently Used Address list Strange email addresses of unknown, possibly malicious entities are appearing in my Entourage Recently Used Address list, mixed in with valid email addresses I've actually used. I don't know who those entities are. I've never emailed them. They are not in my entourage address book. I never open junk mail nor do I ever click on any links within emails. Also, I keep all viewing panes turned off to prevent malicious code from auto-executing. I don't know how or why they are appearing in my Recently Used List. I can clear the list using Entourage Preferences, but within a day or so more mystery entities appear in the list. Are these (a) potentially harmful, (b) symptoms of a functioning macro virus, (c) of no particular concern, or....what? Virex says my computer is clean. There is no way. Take screenshots of the POP rules and keep them open when
you make the IMAP rules manually. That's it.
