I'm trying to transition from my PC to a Mac mini (OS 10.4) and am
having a lot of frustration with MS Office products. For example, I
was recently sent an e-mail with a Word file attached. Outlook
received (from my e-mail server at work) a 345k Word file that it had
no trouble opening (should be the correct size for this document,
looked fine). In Enrourage, downloading the same message, I got a 17k
file with the same name and 'doc' extension and Word won't open it.
Also, if it's really 17k, it's obviously not the whole file so would be
worthless even if opened.

Can anyone explain what might be going wrong here?

Thanks!

Is it possible that in the mail account settings you have the option to
'partially download messages' turned on? In this case, only part of the
message will be available, and word would fail to open the file. Simply
right-click on the message and select 'retrieve entire message'.

Barry:

You're absolutelly right. I didn't know that such an option existed,
or I would have checked for it. Thanks for the prompt response!
