 - Entourage: TASKS My last address book (Act!) had a simple scheduling system: Calls, Meetings & To dos. If you needed to schedule any of these all you had to do is go to the contact name, select CALL, input "date" and "regarding" and you just scheduled a call to a contact. Then when you look at a certain date you could easily see how many calls, meetings and todos you had for that date. In Entourage there are EVENTS and TASKS. My question is: How do I schedule calls, meetings & to dos and A: be able to distinguish them, B: relate them to a contact.  - Rebuilding Database Failed Hello, I am trying to re-build my entourage database. However after a few minutes, I get an error: "Rebuilding Failed. The end of the file was reached." After trying to rebuild again, I get the following, :"Rebuilding Failed. It is likely that your database can not be repaired". I have tryed a tyical re-biuld and will be trying a advanced re-build shortly. Can anyone give me a heads up on what is going on here and actions to take to correct the problem.  - invite calendar event I use Entourage and my husband uses Office XP, sometimes I add calendar events for my husband to attend and on his Windows Outlook sometimes it will have the event added to his calendar and sometimes it won't. When it does work an attachment file is with the email that Outlook understands. Does anyone know how to add an calendar event to Entourage and invite Outlook users an when the outlook users get the invite it actually adds it to their Outlook calendar everytime?  - End of File Reached in Entourage Hello, Recently, I have encountered an "End of file reached" alert which does not allow me to send (or receive) any file with more than 300k attachment. I use Entourage and have narrowed it to the "database" and "messages" file in the Identity folder. If I delete these file I can send and receive just fine, except that I lose all my old message. I tried importing old messages from Outlook Express to Entourage with a new identity and that works fine. Does anyone know how I can try exporting the Entourage files to OE?  - Entourage gets slower the bigger the database? It appears that the more messages you have in your inbox or sent box, the more sluggish the program is at reacting to commands, e.g. clicking the To: field.  - List of recently used addresses pops up... Hi there, I am currently using Entourage 2001. When I am composing a new message, in the To: field I enter the first letter of the recipient's name and I get a list of recently used addresses that pops up. These addresses are not in my address book. I have looked under Preferences but I haven't seen anywhere I can deselect this option. Can someone help or is this just something I have to live with?  - Entourage and Exchange / Calendar Hi there- I've finally gotten Entourage to synch with my Exchange calendar. However, in order to get it working, I had to set my "E-mail Address" to: username@ad.company.com If I set this to my actual email address (First_Last@company.com), it does not work. This email address is listed as an SMTP address on the Exchange server. Actually, both are listed, but this one is my default. Any ideas as to why this might not be working with my "proper" email?  - Entourage truncates display of HTML email (source is complete) Entourage occasionally truncates the display of an HTML formatted message. When I "View Source", the rest of the document is there. If I cut and paste the HTML from the source, into Dreamweaver and then view it in Safari, the whole message appears. Other times, whole HTML messages appear blank, until I "View Source". This happens so often that it is beginning to become a serious problem, due to the time it takes to get these messages into a readable format in a browser window. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem? If not, can anyone suggest a better email program - preferably one that displays HTML email properly, doesn't forget how to use the custom dictionary and works seamlessly with SpamSieve?  - Can't add word to custom dictionary in Entourage About 80% of the time, I can't add a "good" word to my Entourage (shared) custom dictionary. In fact, Entourage doesn't recognize words that I added when the spell checker was working properly. The only thing that I have found that will fix it is to restart Entourage, which is most often, entirely unacceptable, as I usually have multiple windows open at the same time, that I would have to close. Besides, restarting the program every half hour is a Windows fix, not a Mac fix. I can only compose 2 or 3 emails after start up, before Entourage forgets how to add a word to the custom dictionary. Here are the conditions: There is only ONE custom dictionary (shared) available in both Word and Entourage. Language of the custom dictionary is "none". Location of custom dictionary is the same in both programs (checked at time of failure). Primary (not custom) dictionary is "US English". At time of Entourage failure, I can open a document in Word and add to the custom dictionary. New install of Office X and OS X (neither is an upgrade).  - Which Outbox should Entourage use? I'm trying to send mail from my Exchange Account, and when I send it, the message is going to the Outbox for my SMTP account (which is the Outbox under On My Computer) instead of the outbox under my Exchange Account. This hasn't been a problem until today as we had to change some settings on our Exchange Server to stop people relaying through the server.  - Error in Event time zone synchronization Using Entourage 10.1.5 Calendar on Mac OS X 10.2.6, created Events appear on Calendar at a differerent time zone than specifed in Entourage:General Preferences:Calendar:Time zones, or Calendar:Event:Time zone, or Mac OS:SystemPrefs:Date & Time:Time Zones. All three input options for Time Zones are identical, but created events in Entourage will appear at a different time [i.e., 2-3 hours earlier or later] when posted on the Entourage Calendar, regardless of view, i.e., week, month, etc. Similarly, network time synchronizatiion also produces the wrong time, e.g., 2-3 hrs earlier or later, Would appreciate any help.  - Entourage Conduit I have installed 10.1.5 and 10.1.4 Conduit to sync with a palm tugsten T. Hotsync was working before I upgraded but now the Entourage Conduit quits just after starting. It appears to delete all Address info but adds nothing. I have rebuilt the Entourage database, repaired file permissions and rebooted.  - What is quick way to resend? What is the easiest way to resend an e mail you have already sent out? Sometimes you just want to add a PS note. I go to send folder and find the send e mail, and hit reply again, then it goes back to me. And unfortunately, I don't see "resend " button in Entourage. Did there used to be one? Maybe that was outlook. I seem to remember that. Right now, I cut and paste the e mail address of person I just send to and hit forward, it's real cumbersome. Thanks!  - Category error Whenever I post a news item, the default Category is None. But as soon as the item is posted, it becomes Personal & Holiday. This happens even if I choose a specific Category.  - Sync 10.1.4 Quits in Middle of Sync with Entourage 10.1.5 I just installed the updates to office X. So it is updated to Office 10.1.5. I then installed the most recent entourage palm sync for office 10.1.4. Now I hadn't had it installed in a long while because my palm was broken and I'd since gotten a new machine. So I try and hot sync and it starts but after connecting and trying to sync using the entourage conduit it crashes and the sync quits. When I check the palm all has been erased that was on there. I was trying to overwrite the palm with entourage. I tried syncing just categories. It was able to successfully sync a smaller category but it crashes when I try a larger category. For the record I have about 1800 contacts. The only things I have in the conduits folder is the entourage and install. Does anyone know if sync 10.1.4 is incompatible with the newest office update 10.1.5? If it isn't then when are they going to fix this. If it is compatible then what else could my problem be. Another note Entourage says its version is 10.1.4 (030702). On another note I did try to rebuild the database by starting entourage while holding down the option button but the option to rebuild never came up. Did I do that right?  - Setting default application for mail links I know this ought to be an easy answer, but I cannot seem to find it. I'm wondering how to change the default application that opens mail links. I know how to change the browser and the e-mail applications in the system preferences, however, when I open a link to the iTunes music store, classic/system 9 starts up and iTunes 2.0.4 launches despite the fact that I have OS X and iTunes 4.0.1.  - Model takes over ... I signed up with a broadband cable connection about a month ago. Since then I've encountered a number of intermittent problems with email. Here's one. When I click "Send & Receive," Entourage usually uses the broadband connection. But once in a while it starts dialing via the modem. Anyone know what causes that, and how to eliminate the problem.  - Hotsync Problems--No Entourage Conduit I am now staerting to seriously doubt my own abilities on a computer. I am trying to set up Entourage to sync with my Hanspring Visor Deluxe. I am running the newest version of the Palm software (4.0) and when I run the Entourage installer, it looks like everything is fine. I checked the library and the Entourage conduits are there and the Palm conduits are disabled. OK, so it looks fine... but when I open the Hotsync manager to set up Entourage, the Entourage conduit does not show up as an option. I have tried re-installing the Palm software and the Entourage update three times, but the results are always the same.  - can't import addresses from netscape comm 4.77 to entourage X I have tried several ideas, themain: export netscape address (from=20 4.77) as a .ldif file and then tried to import following the dialog box = to=20 import via text or delimited.  - Syncing 2 Palms, one with Entourage, one with Palm Desktop? My husband and I both have Palm m130s that we are syncing with a Mac PowerBook G4 running 0S X 10.2.4. He would like to use Entourage as his desktop application, I would like to use Palm Desktop. I had PD syncing with my Palm just fine. Then I installed the Entourage conduit for him, and much to my chagrin, it completely overwrote the PD conduit so that I am no longer able to sync my Palm with PD. When I am composing a mail message and begin typing the recipient's name or e-mail address, a pop-up menu appears from which I can choose a known address. This is normal behavior.  - Entourage 10.1.4 -- contacts sync but calendar items do not I read the new FAQ at <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/exchange_server.html> but didn't see my situation addressed. OWA is enabled on our Exchange server and I can see calendar items using the browser interface just fine. I let the exchange account set-up wizard set up my account and it found the domain controller, SMTP server, free/busy server, etc. just fine. I can see my exchange mail folders and the contacts in my Exchange account were sync'd with Entourage. I even experimented with adding a new contact in Entourage and it eventually was migrated to the Exchange server (and vice versa). BUT, no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the calendar events to appear in Entourage. If I add a calendar event inside of Entourage, it does not appear in my Exchange calendar. I deleted my Exchange account and started over from scratch many times and no joy. I followed the FAQ advice to download tcpflow and see the traffic between my machine and the server and from what I can tell, Entourage is requesting to see the calendar, eventually the exchange server delivers calendar info back to Entourage, but the data does not appear in my Entourage calendar. I do notice that the attempt to get info from the server always fails the first two times that the request is made. In the tcpflow log I see: 192.168.101.059.49325-192.168.101.009.00080: SEARCH /exchange/jsolderitsch/Calendar/ HTTP/1.1 followed by some data and then I get the response: 192.168.101.009.00080-192.168.101.059.49325: HTTP/1.1 401 Access Denied Then the request is repeated with a new NTLM authorization string, the request is denied again and then the third time, with a longer NTLM auth string, the request succeeds. So it looks like the conversation does reach a conclusion albeit haltingly -- I see HTML data in the log that looks like it accurately reflects my exchange calendar info coming back. It never appears inside the Entourage calendar view however. I see no errors in the Entourage error log. So I am stymied at this point. I have a PC running real Outlook 2002 on my desk as well so I am back to using that. It's also puzzling that contact sync works (in both directions) but calendar data is not being processed. Any suggestions appreciated. I did save the tcpflow logs so if anyone can read these in more detail than me, I can add more details to my problem report. I have downloaded and installed all the Office updates and configured Entourage for my Exchange Server 5.5, and it seems to work for basic mail connectivity. It does not, however, support public folders as anything other than regular IMAP folders, nor will it access the LDAP address book from the server.  - named or numerical IP addresses better for Exchange? sent this out before and help still needed...... Have set up EntourageX with Exchange5.5. Problems I have encountered are: 1. I have found that the process will only work with the use of numerical IP addresses (eg. 172.221.20....) for IMAP, LDAP and SMTP but not for named addresses (eg. SSHMAIL03). Using named addresses gives "connection failure". Changing back over to numerical addresses gives access, although then only to SMTP/sending mail. (see problem 2). Why?? 2. I can send email but can't read email. An error message of "invalid Account ID or password" comes back. This can't be correct because when I then shut down EntourageX and revert to Outlook 2001 with the same ID and password it logs on without any problems. If the recur regularly, you could use the recurrence feature. Otherwise,
there's no easy way. Sorry.

Not a complete solution, but you may find Paul Berkowitz's applescript
'Duplicate Calendar event' useful - you could then just enter all the
details once, duplicate it and just reset the date on the duplicate:
