 - Receiving repeat emails Every week I keep receiving repeat emails I have read from the previous week. Just recently I had over 40 repeat emails from last week and the week before.  - Downloaded pictures go away I've asked this twice before, but the MVP's never answer. I do not download any pictures by default, not even from people in my address book. Sometimes I manually download the pictures from trusted senders by clicking on the download link in the Preview window. However, when I revisit the same emails on another day, the pictures are no longer there AND there is no download link. How do I get the pictures downloaded again?  - retrieving old entourage email after rebuilding via database utility Hi All, I rebuilt my Entourage email database yesterday from a 6/28/06 backup using the microsoft database utility.  - Restoring Old Contacts I am using Entourage 10.1.4 for OS X. We have two Palm users in our famiy. My second user recently sync'd on my profile and now all my calendar and contact information has been replaced.  - S/MIME Certificate Issues in Entourage Hi all, I recently moved over to Entourage from Outlook in an Exchange environment and am having lots of problems getting secure email using digital certificates to work. What I know: * My certificate in Active Directory is correct and up to date * My digital certificates were installed using the MS Certificate Manager in Mac OS X 10.4.8 * My digital certificates are active and valid according to Keychain access. * My digital certificates are stored in the login keychain (that is where the MS tool put them) * My corporation's root certificate is stored in X.509 Anchors * If someone uses Outlook to send me an encrypted email when I try to open it I get a "There was an error processing this secure message" and an smime.p7m is attached to the email. * I can open the same email, that won't open in entourage, using another Outlook client or my blackberry using the exact same certificates that are installed on my mac * If somone uses a blackberry to send me an encrypted message, it works fine in entourage and other clients. * If someone else uses Entourage to send me an encrypted message, it works fine in entourage and other clients. * If I send an encrypted email to myself from Outlook and open my exchange inbox with Entourage, I can't open the email. * If I send an encrypted email to myself from Entourage I can open the email. * Individuals using Outlook to send me emails have deleted all cached/older copies of my certificate using the windows certificate manager or from within outlook attached to my contact entry. This would, presumably, force the client to re-fetch the certificate from the AD. Still no luck. So basically, encrypted emails sent by anyone using Outlook (which is basically everyone) won't open in Entourage. I get the smime.p7m attachment and a decryption error. I'm out of ideas.  - Contact Properties from GAL When I am using Outlook 2003 on a Windows XP Computer, I can double click an email address in the from field of an email message and the contact properties dialog box will display with all the information from the Global Access List. Can this also be accomplish in Entourage for Mac OS X? When I double click on an email address in the from field, the only information in the contact properties dialog box is just the email address. Everything else is missing. If I copy the contact information from the GAL to a Contacts Folder on the Exchange server, then when I double click on the email address in the from field of an Email message, I get a properties dialog box with all the information from the GAL. Will my copy of the contact properties remain syncrhronized with the GAL? I can search the Global Access List by going to the Address Book, select the Global Access List and search by name.  - 10.4.7 update now hangs Entourage Greetings! In the past week or so, I've had to update a number of our users to 10.4.7 in an effort to stay consistent with our OS environment. A number of our users are now complaining that every time Entourage (2004 11.2.5) syncs with the Exchange server, they're plagued with the spinning ball of death.  - Very slow sync with shared mailbox We have a generic e-mail account that 12 people monitor. Each of the 12 people have a sub-folder under the Inbox labeled with their name. The mail coming into the Inbox are 'work orders'. The staff will simply pull a piece of mail from the Inbox into their own subfolder and carry on. So it looks like this: generic.email@company.com > Inbox > User 1 > User 2 > User 3 The problem is, even after one person moves a message from the Inbox to their subfolder, (and it does appear to have moved for that person), other users monitoring that Inbox still see it in the Inbox. Even after they force a sync. Another user could then move a message (that someone else already moved) effectively duplicating it in two of the Inbox's subfolders. If you wait a while, like 20 minutes, the sync will occure properly across all users views. However, this is totally unacceptable. This is a new Exchange 2003 implementation, with Entourage 11.2.1 up to 11.2.5. I have added the shared mailbox two different ways at the client end with the same results (as delegate and as a separate account). Entourage is pointing to back end servers. Does anyone have any suggestions or or previouse observations about this?? This is a MAJOR killer and going to impact business production substantially. MVP's, please help!!!  - Unknown/Unrepairable Error at Start Up After Hard Drive Restore My hard drive crashed. I restored my entire system from a Retrospect Backup. Now when I launch Entourage, it errors while trying to read the preferences. Entourage was working just fine prior to this overnight hard drive crash. I trashed my preferences.  - MS Entourage doesn't start: Application Launch Failure Hi Guys I recently upgraded from a Powerbook G4 to an intel dual-core Macbook Pro; and now my Entourage doesn't work anymore, although other MS Office apps do work. Immediately on launching Entourage it reports: "Application Launch Failure" the application could not be launched because of a shared library error: <Microsoft Entourage><StuffitEngineSDKLib><><> My new configuration is: MacBook Pro 2Ghz intel duo, 512Mb, OSX v 10.4.6 Well when I upgraded to the MacBook Pro, my old Powerbook was dying; so I took it into the Genius bar and they did a take-apart, put the old HDD in an external drive bay and copied over all my files :-) However, not the MS applications. So I installed the MS Office:mac (2004) from my original install disk, registered it and all. The other apps work, but not entourage. What I tried: After, I installed also the latest Stuffit Expander (v11) After, I did an uninstall of the freebie Office:mac trial (3months) After, I did a complete uninstall of all Office applications and moved to trash the Office folder and deleted the icons. I did a disk check and permissions check (disk utility) I did a complete, clean re-install of Office:mac I did a full set of updates, now to 11.2.6 - although Entourage itself is on 11.2.5 version This has not fixed the problem, it still complains as before of "Application Launch Failure" - what is going on?  - Entourage does not display accented characters Hello, I am having this problem with Entourage: it does not display accented characters, instead it shows a "double-triangle" with an interrogation sign inside. (I don't know the name for that "double-triangle", it is two triangles together, one on top of the other, the one on top is looking up and the one on the bottom is looking down, I'm not sure if that makes sense!). :) I thought Mac OS X fonts got corrupted so I formatted the HD and reinstalled everything only to find out that Entourage still does not display the accented characters. I have formatted the HD and reinstalled everything again but did not copy the Entourage Identity that contains all my messages (including those with undisplayed accented characters). Could it be that my Entourage database got corrupted (I don't think so because I can see everything)? Can I import everything from my old Identity (which is backed-up in an external HD) to the new Identity Entourage created for me in the Macintosh HD? Does anyone know how to solve this issue?  - Entourage Email Issue - An Unusual Problem In need of desperate help. We are having problem with people recieving our emails and attchments when we send emails through Entourage. It is a very unusual situation. We tested out Mac Mail to see if is Entourage. When we used Mac Mail to send emails people were able to recieve the emails. However, we need to be able to use Entourage. If i forward using Entourage to a colleague and he sends the email out then other people are able to recieve the email. There does not seem to be a any consistency. It is now effecting all machines with OS X 10.3.9 with Mac: Office 2004. We have two machines that are OS 9 and they are not having this problem. When people send email using Entourage, most of the time people on the other end are not recieving the emails. However, on some days the same people are recieving the emails. Also attachments are coming through on the other end as viruses. The thing is there does not seem to be any consistency at all. We are thinking about uninstalling the OS and Office to see if this does it. We have already uninstalled Office and did an update and this did not solve the problem.  - The best way to archive Entourage data in order to easily access it later? Hi, I'm new to this group so this topic might be discussed here earlier. If so, I would appreaciate if someone could be able to point me to the relevant information. Anyway, my problem briefly: What is the best way to store your old mails, projects and other data? I know that I can export data, drag mailfolders to the desktop and use the Backup button in Project Centre main view. Or I can periodically make a backup of my whole MUD folder. All this is fine and well, but my problem is actually accessing the archived data *later*. With .rge files it is quite cumbersome to first import it and then later delete old stuff just in order to retrieve one mail, for example. Also, the amount of data, especially mails, is huge so it is very time consuming process. And if I make smaller .rge files, I might have to import many of them before I can find the one mail I'm looking for. Everything works fine as long as I keep the data in 'Folders on My Computer', but when I eventually need to remove older stuff in order to get the database smaller, I don't know what would be the best way to do this and still retain the possibility to have (at least reasonably) quick access to the old data, too. So, how are you people doing your backup/archiving? And more importantly to me: how do you access your archived data? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Tag: Export to Yahoo Tag: 70587

 - Why do meeting invites from Entourage to Outlook 2002 come thru as text I'm using Entourage 2004 (11.2.5). My wife uses Outlook 2003 (11.6359) at work using an Exchange server. My business partner uses Outlook 2002 (10.6515) with no Exchange server (just an individual user). When I invite my wife to a meeting, it comes through "normally" as an actionable meeting invite (accept, decline, etc.) that appears on her own calendar. When I invite my partner to a meeting, however, it appears as a regular email message, with text only ~ nothing actionable. He has to create his own meeting in Outlook. The reverse (them inviting me ~ that is, Outlook 2002 and 2003 inviting Entourage 2004) works normally. Any ideas on how to get my partner to be able to accept meetings from me "normally"?  - Sync Services Hi, I am new to the Mac. Moved from Windows a month or so ago. I'm using Entourage and love it. It helps me organize my business. And, I've just installed QuickBooks 2007 for the Mac. QB can use something called Sync services to sync with Address Book and iCal and any other software that uses Sync services. Does Entourage do this? I see a setting to sync with Address Book. With that question asked, I might add that I'm not sure I want QB and Entourage addresses synced.  - Calendar cache question Can someone help me with this? Every morning when I open Entourage at work, the office calendar in our Public Folder on Exchange Server must re-load from scratch.  - Slow update of folders Hi, we have 2 users who report their Entourage being painfully slow whilst updating its folders with the server. The performance is so poor that it hesitates whilst they are writing emails mid-sentence. We are using Kerio email system (similar in principal to Exchange) and the client is Entourage 2004. We have tried recreating the account but this hasn't helped. We have also used the webmail version of Kerio and this is not slow, so all seems to point to Entourage. Any ideas?  - Date corruption - back to the future I get email from a client's corporate server that Entourage incorrectly reads dates and puts them out to the year 2018. This makes it impossible to sort mail chronologically. Email with the problematic date has the format: Date: 15-Nov-2005 13:49:09 GMT Emails with a "good" date have the format: Date: Fri, 19 May 2006 11:23:52 +0100 So, the clue is the use of the "-" in the date format between the day, month and year. This is what is causing the incompatibility between their server and Entourage. Entourage must be trying to do a "subtract" operation as it does with the time zone hours offset. I notice in the problematic formats that time zones are named rather than given a +/- reference. I saw this once before from another company's server and it lasted for about 3 months before it went away. Of course, I have no influence over a large company's IT group to get their attention - especially as a "lowly Mac user". I don't know their OS or email software.  - exchange - sent attachments corrupted - encoding problem ? Relunctantly switched to entourage from outlook 2001 after years of flawless happy usage. (Needed to include corporate logo in signature + blackberry activation via pocketmac). Config OSX10.4.8 and entourage 11.2.5 Now all my attachements are corrupted. (hieroglyph at receiving end). Outlook 2001 still sends the same attachements fine, so does OWA. I searched the site and suspect it has to do with the way entourage does the encoding. I get an error message: 5.7.1 This system is not configured to relay mail from <indago@copper.net> to <JBurns@ibew252.org> for 64.209.146.28 Error: 5501 Everything worked OK in the Emails with Earthlink, but not with the new Copper.net.  - Use of Tab button when composing e-mail One of the big differences I am trying to get used to in Entourage is that, unlike Outlook, it does not use Word to compose e-mail messages--or if it does, I do not know how to configure my system to do it. One of the downsides of this is that using the tab button to create consistent spacing...say if I am trying to create a rudimentary table in the text of my e-mail.  - Entourage connecting to MS Exchange Server 2003 SP2 (fix) Recently my Power Book G4 OSX 10.4.8 started having difficulty synchronizing with Exchange Server 2003 SP2. Often I can see Entourage is syncing folders in the back ground but next to the Exchange account it says I'm not connected All I get is error Error: -18597 and also it will ask for my password over and over for the keychain. To fix this, I reinstalled Office, didn't help. I spoke to Apple and ran all kinds of disk utilities, didn't help. Cleared all key chains Deleted my core Exchange account and started over.  - Entourage 2004 Freezes at random Hi all, I have been experiencing random freezes in Entourage 2004 sometimes they are triggered when tyring to open a new message but sometimes they are triggered by simple key/mouse scrolling or other activities. There is no specific function that I can locate as the source of this problem. This freeze up lasts for up to 3-5 minutes, then the program goes back to normal executing all activities that triggered the freeze up. For example: I try to open a message if the program freezes and I try to click and open other messages, whenever the program comes back all messages clicked are opened. Any help will be appreciated.  - emails randomly disappear from inbox & date changes - Entourage 2004 (11.2.5) This has now happened twice. Randomlly emails seem to disappear from my inbox while most of the others (but not all) left in my inbox change to a random date. This happened just a few days ago, now most emails are dated 8/14/06 and many more are just gone. I have read the message boards and have run a database repair, made sure that view 'unread only' & 'flagged only' are unchecked and there is no schedule to delete emails from my inbox.  - No HTML Signature? - Surely this is a feature... i have the same basic email signature that everyone in america has... standard logo on the left, name & #s on the right. nothing fancy. i've searched this newsgroup and many other forums. i can't figure out how to do it. but if the message is in html, it has to be possible. i've read several folks work-arounds such as emailing yourself from word, etc. obviously you can't do that for every email. someone please help. i'm the marketing director and i can't even adhere to our company email signature?! this seems like the most basic functionality; surely it's in there. this alone is enough reason to return Entourage. anyones help would be greatly appreciated. otherwise i seriously have to go back to a PC and use outlook.  - Mail/folders missing - Databases in place I'm using Entourage 11.2.3 (yes, I now see that it's up to 11.2.6)... the only problem I've had before today is that Entourage will sometimes freeze -- as in: you're in the middle of typing an email and suddenly, nothing is typing into the document. You can't do anything in the program at all... it's unresponsive. And until the next run of the schedule (sometimes more than 5 minutes) nothing will bring it back. You can leave the program to do something else and then click back into Entourage (or use the dock) and nothing happens. It won't get focus. FINALLY, while you're doing something else, Entourage will jump back to the front like it's ready to work again, Till now, that was the only problem. Today however, bigger awful things are happening. This morning, I got my mail and none of it sorted into its respective folders using the rules I've set up. Odd. I put the mail where it needed to go as I read it. I went down and checked a couple newsgroups and while trying to reply to a third NG post (the first two were fine), I got an error message (I wish I'd written it down, but I didn't know it would be this severe). Anyway, the error was saying it couldn't complete that command or something (and, of course, had a number). Then, I could no longer read any of the NG posts. They were all giving an error. I thought maybe there was a problem with that newsgroup, so I left it to answer mail in another folder. When I clicked another mail folder I got an error saying that couldn't be done either. I figured I'd better reboot Entourage. I used the menu command to quit the program and got a box asking if I wanted to report this crash/problem to Microsoft. I said sure (though I had quit, not crashed). After the little reporting box did its thing, and all was actually quit, I restarted Entourage. It started as if it was the first time the program ever opened. :-O With the "set up your acccounts" helper box, no folders and no messages. Uh-uh. I went to "Switch Identities" (I have a second, older identity) and I could see the names of both there. I quit and restarted -- same thing. I went ahead and switched to my other identity -- same issue. No mail and no folders. Nothing. Just like brand new. I went to the Microsoft User Data folder and saw that both Office 2004 identities are there. The old one (that I only use for reference) is 3.74GB (big, I know) and the one I use day to day is 1.64GB (that's not bad for Entourage)... I made a copy of the smaller one just in case... but now I'm not sure how to proceed to have the highest chance for recovering all my mail, rules, contacts, accounts, schedules, folders, etc. I want it just like it was. <sigh> I've downloaded the 11.2 5 update (which it says I should install before the 11.2.6. Should I upgrade first to see if that helps? Or should I try to compact the database (instructions I read said to only rebuild the database if you must). Should I go straight to a rebuild? Or maybe there's something I can do to force mail to SEE the mail in the databases (I know they're not BOTH corrupt!)? I'm scared to death because in early June, my Entourage DB became corrupted and was unrecoverable. In trying to import it into Apple's Mail program as a last ditch effort to recover at least some of it, the import lasted over a weekend and crashed my entire HD. I lost 6 weeks of unbacked up mail as well as a week of my PB being in the shop. I'm a web developer. I can't do this again -- not the crash or the lost mail. I have considered deleting the synchorization settings for the old account - but also don't want to lose all the messages that it has as I still need access to them for a while (accessing them via webmail is not a problem, if needed). Explanation Could not retrieve mail. Has anyone see this problem with Hotmail and if so - who did you resolve it? Some background information: 1. I'm an MSN Premium customer so I guess that means I have a 'paid for' hotmail account 2. This problem only happens if my hotmail folders have not downloaded all the messages from the email servers. For example, if I have two folders titled Work and Personal and for each folder I have 100 messages - then this error message occurs when trying to download the 100 messages for the first time. 3. For some folders this error does not go away, i.e. it happens each and every time I try to update the folder and as such all the messages have not been downloaded as yet. 4. I've tried performing the database repair - didn't help - and I even created a brand new identity and started from 'scratch' - still occurs. 5.  - Entourage problems I hope that I can get some help on my problem. I have been having some problems with entourage freezing with "application not responding". Because of that I had to force quit entourage and re-open every time that that happens. I also had a box popping out asking whether to run for verification. I had 3 items. 1- Main identity, 2- Main identity (backed up...) and 3- Main identity (backed up...). Now, I wasn't sure what to do so once it verified the main identity, I also ran the backed up main identity. Well, I tried, the 2nd main identity when I tried, it freezed on me and I just force quite the whole thing. Now, I opened entourage and the Entourage Setup Assistant came out (with the Welcome note and asking what I want to import) with the background showing "Mail-Main identity (backed up 4-29-2006 10.42). I do not see all my old mails, nor the addresses, notes, files, etc. I am not sure how to get all my old files back. I left the Entourage setup assistant hanging there hoping that someone will get back to me on how to proceed with it because I can't close up entourage before giving some instructions to the entourage setup assistant.  - key commands not working When I try to "select all" or "delete" e-mails using key commands nothing happens however I can perform these functions with the pull-down menus.  - Entourage Keeps Demanding Password Access to Keychain I have OS X 10.4.8, on a G4 mirror tower. After changing my password for email, and adjusting it in keychain, Entourage keeps asking for password access to Keychain Access. I've tried to make it permanent, but it doesn't stick.  - Entourage not syncing with Exchange Entourage 11.2.5 Exchange 2003 According to Entourage, I only have 88 items in my Inbox. According to Outlook, I have 950 items in my Inbox. Obviously, there are 862 items, and counting, that I have deleted or otherwise moved out of my Inbox via Entourage, but didn't get synced with the server. Why would that be?  - Invitations don't show up as invitations I am now running Entourage 2004 version 11.2.5 (macos X 10.4.8). Invitations that I receive (Lotus Notes system) do not show up as invitations in Entourage. They have the .ics file and I can double-click on the file to add a calendar entry manually, but there is no invitation icon to the left of the message in the list view, I have no way to respond to the invitation (buttons do not appear). Furthermore, these invitations do show up properly on my MacOS 9 Entourage 2001 calendar. If I download the same messages with Apple Mail, the invitations go into iCal. Any idea what is going on?
