 - Exchange Problems Out Of The Blue I have had no problems connecting to my corporate email. But now, it will not connect. I can connect to my company server and even use my company Intranet, but Entourage-exchange will not connect (emil working, can connect on a PC). I am using 10.4.8.  - INbox 4000 Unread Since Rebuild Hi, After doing a typical rebuild of my 1.5 GB database (Office version 10.1.7; POP email) I hit Send & Receive and received ~ 4000 unread emails. Random checks revealed that they are duplicates of emails in folders. However, I haven't checked every one so I'm not comfortable deleting them all. Since I backed up my Microsoft User Folder prior to doing the rebuild I tried quiting all Office apps, copying back that folder to the documents folder and re-opening Entourage. No luck. Suggestions?  - Trouble importing Work and Home Emails into Entourage 2004 contacts I am trying to import my contacts into Entourage 2004 using a .csv text file. Everything works perfectly EXCEPT all the emails get imported as work emails (meaning with the Work label). I know that Entourage allows for up to (I think) six email addresses, but they can be either Work or Home or Other. How do I import them so that the Home or Other labels show up through the import process? Right now, when any number of email addresses are imported with a contact's info, they all are (Work). With over 1500 contacts, changing it manually is not something I want to do. Is there some way to label the field?  - Deleting an MSN mail message from Entourage I use msn mail with Entourage as my email utility. I have a single message that I can't remove from the msn Deleteted Items folder in Entourage.  - problem: Fonts get smaller as thread gets longer I am running 10.4.8 OSX and 11.2.5 Entourage. When I get emails that have replies in them, I've notice the fonts get smaller as the thread gets longer. Even a non-Mac user is seeing these smaller fonts. They are so small, you can't read them. Example: (12pt font): thanks for emailing me. (received today) (10pt font): the meeting is tomorrow. (sent yesterday) (8pt font): when is the meeting. (sent 2 days ago) (6pt font): Are you going to the meeting? (sent 3 days ago) (4pt font): I'm fine. (sent 4 days ago) This may be a bad example, but as the thread gets older, the older messages get smaller. I can't figure out how to fix this unless I use non-html encoded emails. Any thoughts?  - unable to auto-compress attachments with an Intel Mac Anyone having this issue? I installed Stuffit 11 for Mac (which is UB) but for some reason, Entourage can't stuff folders that are attached to a message. The error says 'Stuffit not installed' even though it is. There is that patch that Stuffit had for the G4 mac's to allow Entourage to auto-stuff, but it doesn't work with the Intel's- and The Stuffit people have no Intel release of that patch.  - deleting from server My POP mail is filtered through Spam Arrest, then goes to my in box in Entourage. The messages all have a tag on them giving me the choice to delete it from the server. I have no need to keep them on the server so have to delete each one individually. Is there some place to check so that messages are not kept on the server? I've looked through all of Spam Arrest and Entourage, but don't see such a choice. I know you can do this with IMAP, but I'm not using that email address at all, just the POP ones. It has been working great and then all of a sudden I am receiving thousands of messages each time I chose send and receive. Items that I had deleted some time ago.  - Open other User's Folder - Folders other than Inbox, Contacts or Calendar Hi there, after much pulling of hair we have managed to configure Entourage clients to see other user's inboxes and calendars but I cannot configure access to other mailboxes. I do not wish people to see the contents of the Inbox. When I select Open Other User's Folder, how can I specify the mailbox I want? If I set the permissions on the other mailboxes but select Inbox from Open other User's Folder I get told that permissions are incorrect. If I set permissions on the Inbox I can open that but not the other mailbox I really need to see.  - Entourage 2004 Project Centre - Syncing email I'm playing with this to try and find a solution for our present cumbersome Public Folder email filing system. So far: 1. Tagging an email as belonging to a shared project doesn't actually move it anywhere. If you delete the email from your Exchange account, it vanishes from the project as well. This prompts a question as to why a shared Project folder has an Archive file in it if it doesn't get used? 2. If you set the Entourage email Watch Folder to a Public Folder, tagging an email as a Project one still doesn't move it to make it available. 3. Dragging an email to said Public Watch folder tags it as belonging to the Project and allows team members to download a copy of it. But this is exactly the way that Public folders already work, so it doesn't make things any easier. Is there a way to get Entourage to copy an email I tag in my Inbox to an accessible location that other members of the project can get access to? You can't even get Rules to be applied on a Schedule.  - error message & more 1) In both the INBOX and DELETED ITEMS I can't open any I received or deleted YESTERDAY. When I try, I get the message, 'This action could not be completed. Unknown error (4362) occurred.' 2) the DELETE function no longer works. 3)I can send but cannot receive messages in Entourage from my Verizon account. (I think it happened when I tried to delete an oversize message that Verizon had deemed too large.) Can I fix this?  - Entourage doesn't sync with iCal. Address Book is okay. Hi. I've enabled Sync Services in my Entourage. Address Book become visible just as-is, with no hassle. Somehow, I didn't see any events from my iCal. The additional calendar Entourage was created in iCal, and changes made to it are getting sync back with Entourage. However, I don't see any items from my main calendar from iCal. Can you please advise me something? I've a recent MacBook Pro with all updated software. Thanks a lot.  - imported emails vanished We imported all of our emails and address book from a MacMail account, and also added another email address to receive messages in the same Entourage account (two email addresses feeding into one Entourage account). All worked fine for a few days. Yesterday we opened Entourage and all the emails had vanished. We re-imported them and they vanished again. Any ideas? Thanks!  - Hotmail items moving to folder on computer Purchased a MacBook Pro and Office 2004 for the Mac about 4 months ago. Everything has been working great, until this week. When I launch Entourage, and click on the folder Hotmail -> Inbox in the folder pane on the left, I can see all of my messages disappear one by one. I thought they were gone, but found them in my Deleted Items folder in Hotmail. I ran a test to see if it was a Hotmail or Entourage issue. I sent myself two separate test E-mails from two different computers and accounts. I first opened a Hotmail browser session using IE on a PC to see if they were there. They were, everything's good. Then I opened a Hotmail browser session using Safari on a Mac, again they were there, no problems. Then I opened Entourage, opened the Hotmail Inbox Folder, and saw the messages briefly, then they were moved to the deleted items folder. So something in Entourage is deleted all my messages from Hotmail. More experimentation followed. I checked for any rules or junk e-mail filters... none are created or enabled. Then I noticed that the Inbox folder for the local computer had some unread messages in it (I don't have any accounts other than Hotmail, so I found this odd). Turns out that it looks like my messages are being moved to a local folder from Hotmail by Entourage, and then deleted from Hotmail. Not sure why or how this is happening.  - Import Identity vX to vX Hi all - OS 10.3.9 Office vX w/ service pack 1 I let the hard drive get too full and had to copy full Microsoft User files from the startup drive onto an external drive while reformatting and rebuilding the startup drive. I found there is no import for Entourage vX to Entourage vX! I also learned that I can't just drag all the identities back to the main drive. I get an error first telling me to rebuild my database, then doing a typical rebuild I get "Compacting failed" & "Access permission is denied.Trying an advanced rebuild I get "Rebuilding failed" and "Access permission is denied."  - Entourage will not start up now My Entourage program is no longer working. It has been running fine since I purchased Office:2004 and it has just stopped dead and will not load. I am running OS 10.4.8 on my 15" Powerbook, and I had updated all of my Office software. My problem is only with Entourage. All of the other Office programs are launching and running correctly. My problem is simple...it will not launch. I can not get it to do anything. There are no error messages or any indication of what the problem is. The icon will bounce once in the dock and then it just stops. The word Entourage does not apper in the top left next to the Apple logo. It was working fine on Thursday and then it just stopped working later in the day. I have been reading the posts in this forum, and nothing is working for me to self-correct the issue. I have repaired my disk permissions, run the Remove Office program, reinstalled all of Office:2004, updated to the latest version, and deleted the Entourage permissions in my Preferences folder. I am now out of ideas and need some help. Any one got another idea? I am in the middle of a big project and I have many emails stuck in my Entourage right now. Thanks.  - Key Chain Password Request for Entourage Someone deleted all my key chain access info, and now every time I turn on Entourage it asks for my key cahin password. I have my email password saved in the accounts section of Entourage. I found a posting somewhere eles and did the following but it didn't work either (Launch Keychain Access in Utilities. Locate the Internet password entry for your incoming mail server. Double-click and select the Access Control tab. Add Entourage to the list of Always allow access... If not sure which is the right Internet password entry, launch Entourage, go to Account Settings, and remove "save password" selection for the accounts. Save this change, then reselect the checkbox, and save again. Keychain Access should show an updated modification date for the correct Internet password.) Once I got to the tab where it said Always allow access and clicked on it a new message box came up, giving me the chance to quit, allow once and allow always. The problem was that it didn't allow me to choose the allow always box. It also kep asking me once again for my dam key chain password.  - smtp authentication Hughesnet is my isp. They just changed their name from direcway. Now I can send email using entourage. I get an entourage error message that says it can't send because it requires smtp authentication. According to hughesnet I have properly filled out all of the fields but since the error message is an "entourage error" they can't help me.  - Downloaded pictures go away I've asked this twice before, but the MVP's never answer. I do not download any pictures by default, not even from people in my address book. Sometimes I manually download the pictures from trusted senders by clicking on the download link in the Preview window. However, when I revisit the same emails on another day, the pictures are no longer there AND there is no download link. How do I get the pictures downloaded again? My second user recently sync'd on my profile and now all my calendar and contact information has been replaced.  - S/MIME Certificate Issues in Entourage Hi all, I recently moved over to Entourage from Outlook in an Exchange environment and am having lots of problems getting secure email using digital certificates to work. What I know: * My certificate in Active Directory is correct and up to date * My digital certificates were installed using the MS Certificate Manager in Mac OS X 10.4.8 * My digital certificates are active and valid according to Keychain access. * My digital certificates are stored in the login keychain (that is where the MS tool put them) * My corporation's root certificate is stored in X.509 Anchors * If someone uses Outlook to send me an encrypted email when I try to open it I get a "There was an error processing this secure message" and an smime.p7m is attached to the email. * I can open the same email, that won't open in entourage, using another Outlook client or my blackberry using the exact same certificates that are installed on my mac * If somone uses a blackberry to send me an encrypted message, it works fine in entourage and other clients. * If someone else uses Entourage to send me an encrypted message, it works fine in entourage and other clients. * If I send an encrypted email to myself from Outlook and open my exchange inbox with Entourage, I can't open the email. * If I send an encrypted email to myself from Entourage I can open the email. * Individuals using Outlook to send me emails have deleted all cached/older copies of my certificate using the windows certificate manager or from within outlook attached to my contact entry. This would, presumably, force the client to re-fetch the certificate from the AD. Still no luck. So basically, encrypted emails sent by anyone using Outlook (which is basically everyone) won't open in Entourage. I get the smime.p7m attachment and a decryption error. I'm out of ideas.  - Contact Properties from GAL When I am using Outlook 2003 on a Windows XP Computer, I can double click an email address in the from field of an email message and the contact properties dialog box will display with all the information from the Global Access List. Can this also be accomplish in Entourage for Mac OS X? When I double click on an email address in the from field, the only information in the contact properties dialog box is just the email address. Everything else is missing. If I copy the contact information from the GAL to a Contacts Folder on the Exchange server, then when I double click on the email address in the from field of an Email message, I get a properties dialog box with all the information from the GAL. Will my copy of the contact properties remain syncrhronized with the GAL? I can search the Global Access List by going to the Address Book, select the Global Access List and search by name.  - 10.4.7 update now hangs Entourage Greetings! In the past week or so, I've had to update a number of our users to 10.4.7 in an effort to stay consistent with our OS environment. A number of our users are now complaining that every time Entourage (2004 11.2.5) syncs with the Exchange server, they're plagued with the spinning ball of death.  - Very slow sync with shared mailbox We have a generic e-mail account that 12 people monitor. Each of the 12 people have a sub-folder under the Inbox labeled with their name. The mail coming into the Inbox are 'work orders'. The staff will simply pull a piece of mail from the Inbox into their own subfolder and carry on. So it looks like this: generic.email@company.com > Inbox > User 1 > User 2 > User 3 The problem is, even after one person moves a message from the Inbox to their subfolder, (and it does appear to have moved for that person), other users monitoring that Inbox still see it in the Inbox. Even after they force a sync. Another user could then move a message (that someone else already moved) effectively duplicating it in two of the Inbox's subfolders. If you wait a while, like 20 minutes, the sync will occure properly across all users views. However, this is totally unacceptable. This is a new Exchange 2003 implementation, with Entourage 11.2.1 up to 11.2.5. I have added the shared mailbox two different ways at the client end with the same results (as delegate and as a separate account). Entourage is pointing to back end servers. Does anyone have any suggestions or or previouse observations about this?? This is a MAJOR killer and going to impact business production substantially. MVP's, please help!!!  - Unknown/Unrepairable Error at Start Up After Hard Drive Restore My hard drive crashed. I restored my entire system from a Retrospect Backup. Now when I launch Entourage, it errors while trying to read the preferences. Entourage was working just fine prior to this overnight hard drive crash. I trashed my preferences.  - MS Entourage doesn't start: Application Launch Failure Hi Guys I recently upgraded from a Powerbook G4 to an intel dual-core Macbook Pro; and now my Entourage doesn't work anymore, although other MS Office apps do work. Immediately on launching Entourage it reports: "Application Launch Failure" the application could not be launched because of a shared library error: <Microsoft Entourage><StuffitEngineSDKLib><><> My new configuration is: MacBook Pro 2Ghz intel duo, 512Mb, OSX v 10.4.6 Well when I upgraded to the MacBook Pro, my old Powerbook was dying; so I took it into the Genius bar and they did a take-apart, put the old HDD in an external drive bay and copied over all my files :-) However, not the MS applications. So I installed the MS Office:mac (2004) from my original install disk, registered it and all. The other apps work, but not entourage.  - Entourage does not display accented characters Hello, I am having this problem with Entourage: it does not display accented characters, instead it shows a "double-triangle" with an interrogation sign inside. (I don't know the name for that "double-triangle", it is two triangles together, one on top of the other, the one on top is looking up and the one on the bottom is looking down, I'm not sure if that makes sense!). :) I thought Mac OS X fonts got corrupted so I formatted the HD and reinstalled everything only to find out that Entourage still does not display the accented characters. I have formatted the HD and reinstalled everything again but did not copy the Entourage Identity that contains all my messages (including those with undisplayed accented characters). Could it be that my Entourage database got corrupted (I don't think so because I can see everything)? Can I import everything from my old Identity (which is backed-up in an external HD) to the new Identity Entourage created for me in the Macintosh HD? Does anyone know how to solve this issue?  - Entourage Email Issue - An Unusual Problem In need of desperate help. We are having problem with people recieving our emails and attchments when we send emails through Entourage. It is a very unusual situation. We tested out Mac Mail to see if is Entourage. When we used Mac Mail to send emails people were able to recieve the emails. However, we need to be able to use Entourage. If i forward using Entourage to a colleague and he sends the email out then other people are able to recieve the email. There does not seem to be a any consistency. It is now effecting all machines with OS X 10.3.9 with Mac: Office 2004. We have two machines that are OS 9 and they are not having this problem. When people send email using Entourage, most of the time people on the other end are not recieving the emails. However, on some days the same people are recieving the emails. Also attachments are coming through on the other end as viruses. The thing is there does not seem to be any consistency at all. We are thinking about uninstalling the OS and Office to see if this does it. We have already uninstalled Office and did an update and this did not solve the problem.  - Problem setting up exchange account I'm trying to set up an Exchange account in Entourage 2004 but am unable to enter my password... I'm not able to enter any characters in the field. I've tried going via the assistant as well as setting up manually. I'm sure it's something simple that I've neglected to do. Any suggestions?  - The best way to archive Entourage data in order to easily access it later? Hi, I'm new to this group so this topic might be discussed here earlier. If so, I would appreaciate if someone could be able to point me to the relevant information. Anyway, my problem briefly: What is the best way to store your old mails, projects and other data? I know that I can export data, drag mailfolders to the desktop and use the Backup button in Project Centre main view. Or I can periodically make a backup of my whole MUD folder. All this is fine and well, but my problem is actually accessing the archived data *later*. With .rge files it is quite cumbersome to first import it and then later delete old stuff just in order to retrieve one mail, for example. Also, the amount of data, especially mails, is huge so it is very time consuming process. And if I make smaller .rge files, I might have to import many of them before I can find the one mail I'm looking for. Everything works fine as long as I keep the data in 'Folders on My Computer', but when I eventually need to remove older stuff in order to get the database smaller, I don't know what would be the best way to do this and still retain the possibility to have (at least reasonably) quick access to the old data, too. So, how are you people doing your backup/archiving? And more importantly to me: how do you access your archived data? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have had no problems connecting to my corporate email. But now, it
will not connect. I can connect to my company server and even use my
company Intranet, but Entourage-exchange will not connect (emil
working, can connect on a PC). I am using 10.4.8.

I have reset Entourage and redone exchange account, but no luck.

Can you connect from the same computer using webmail on the same address
used for the settings of the Exchange account??
