 - Turning off Auto-Notify for new email. I have Entourage 2001. Is there a way to turn off the auto-notify of new email coming in when it is just junk. I'll get probably 100 emails in a day and I want to look at maybe 2 of them.  - "Can't open the message file - it's gone!" After a torturous upgrade from EX to E2004, with major import problems=20 and multiple work-arounds, I now get the message "Can't open the message = file - it's gone!" in my Error log for all email accounts. Mail seems to = arrive=20 OK, and is sorted into the right containers by Rules and Mailing List=20 Manager, but "e" continues to bouncing, and the error log fills up. Here's the history:=20 Installing Office 2004 Opened E04. The Wizard prompted to import mail, contacts, etc., but E04=20 would not recognize my EX identity. Finally was able to import all but mail using File/Import/Import from a=20 program/Office 2001. Some of the rules were scrambled, but fixable. All = the=20 mail folders came over, but were empty. After scouring this list for help, closed E04, launched EX, and dragged = all=20 the email in various EX folders onto the desktop as *.msg files, then = closed=20 EX, started E04 and dragged the mail back into the right folders. Everything seemed to be working, then the "e" started bouncing, with the = "missing file message. When I double click the error message, the detail repeats the missing = file=20 message, and the detail says "Could not retrieve mail. Account name: "Richard@Zeren.com" But I'm getting the mail!  - Can I set calendar event times with the keyboard? Context: Mac OS 10.3.5 and Entourage 2004 (11.0.0) I'm fairly embarrassed to admit that I can't figure out how to use the keyboard or keypad to type in the start or end times for a calendar event. I thought I used to be able to do this, but all of a sudden, the only thing that works is to use the arrow buttons adjacent to the time boxes. Any thoughts?  - Any one seen a (-51) error? Hello, I had one of these errors pop up today: -a read/write error has occured (-51) This only happens when trying to send, email is coming in fine. Seems like a pretty clear error, but I have no r/w issues on the server, or the local Mac, no limits on storage either. I have 10 other Macs with the same config (Entourage v.X with all the patches, to an Exchange 2k server) operating normally, wich is leading me to think this may be an issue with the Mac itself.  - Entourage LDAP Error with Exchange Have a MAC system that has just stopped talking to my Exchange 2000 server. Was working great then started giving an error message one day.  - Calendar/recurring events I'm working with a new eMac and Panther. Seems there's a bug in editing recurring calendar events....it won't allow editing one event only...only all in the series. When you opt to edit only one in the series, you can't input any data except for the starting time of the event (can't even change end time).  - Occasionally everything aligns right In Entourage 2004 on an iMac running 10.3.5, occasionally when I open the program everything aligns right. This applies to the email address field, the Subject line, and even the message body. If I close the program and open it up again it works normally for a while, then a day or two later the problem reappears.  - Junk protection OFF, but still working! I run Entourage 2004 on an iMac using 10.3.5. My Junk E-Mail Protection is OFF, but the damn thing keeps putting certain legitimate emails into the Junk folder.  - Lost half of Entourage messages in upgrade to Office 2004 I upgraded from Office X to Office 2004, following all the installation guidelines and transferring my Identity from old to new. But when I opened Entourage 2004 for the first time, any message sent or received after May 26 2004 was missing. Also, every caledar entry has been lost. I think the setup assistant program removed my old office programs and placed them in the trash. I have saved them. Is there a way to get the missing messages back? I have already opened the the database utility and tried to rebuild my database but it made no difference. I hope there is a way to get the old messages back into my inbox.  - printing issues with contacts in entourage 2004 Hello, If I try to print a contact (from within the contact window by clicking on the Print icon), I get the error 30876 and can't print. no preview shown in preview window. It did the same thing last week, but relaunching Entourage fixed the problem. Not this time. I checked the Database integrity (no problem) and rebuilt it. No change. no other problems.  - Erase News Headers in Entourage 2004? Hello The longer the list of news messages in a news group comes, the longer it takes until Entourage 2004 reacts when I click on a news group to download new messages. At least I think that this is the reason for the delay, who is up to 6 - 8 seconds in a group with over 11'000 messages. So I wonder how I can shorten this list and get rid of these headers of old messages. Tried to delete them, but the delete command is dimmed.  - Chinese data on Entourage can't sync I've spent some time trying to track down the source of a recurring problem when syncing Entourage data to my Palm (Treo 600). Any Chinese text gets wiped out in the syncing process. The problem is clearly in the Entourage conduits, which appear not to be equipped to recognize unicode, or to automatically treat all data as Roman characters. This is true for the original Palm conduits as well. But there are patches available for the Palm conduits to address the problem, and they work for the Palm desktop-Treo 600 sync. These conduits are no use for Entourage, however, because unicode-enabled conduits would have the replace the Entourage conduits. Does anyone know of any patches available for Entourage. Will Microsoft address this issue? it affects anyone using Entourage for Chinese/Japanese/Korean language who wants to sync with a Palm device.  - 2004 duplicate bug: Berkowitz Export-Import used in workaround BUG: Duplicate Messages when create new user identity I've seen reports of an Entourage 2004 duplicate messages bug n a couple forums but never paid attention until I had the problem this weekend. I ran Entourage 2004 for four months without any problem with my accounts, which were in the database I had used with Entourage X. The duplicate problem only arose two days ago when I created a new Entourage identity and brought over my database, on which I had earlier done a major rebuild. But I only got duplicate messages through my university's account, NOT with my Road Runner account. (Could the fact that the university uses Exchange be a contributing causal factor?) Repair Permissions, TechTool Pro 4.0.3, and DiskWarrior 3.0.2 found no problems, but I did TTP file testing/repairs and DW volume rebuild, just in case. I did another major rebuild of the database The problem persisted. Workaround for duplicate message bug: I went back into my old account and used Berkowitz's Export-Import v1.3.1 scripts to export the essential components of the database. I created a second new identity and again used the Berkowitz scripts to import the exported database components into that identity's database. Voila! No more problems with duplicate messages from my campus account. I do not recall if I did anything else in the workaround beyond what I reported above. But I do recall the serendipity of getting rid of another problem I had encountered with the first of the two new identities: Incoming messages' from/subject/sent lines were in colors that matched the categories of the senders rather than my preference of blue for unread, black for read. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to be, but I found it distracting and could find no preference for displaying those lines without category colors.  - Spam email addresses secretly showing up in address list - Can't delete Hi I need some help. I am getting tonnes of spam email even though I have the spam setting at = the highest! I noticed that when I address an email that the smart auto fill displays = email=20 addresses I didn't know I had AND they are SPAM email addresses.=20 I search the address book and they aren't there, BUT when I go to the=20 address field of a new email and start to type they show up.  - Creating rules Can anyone suggest the easiest way to organise incoming emails via rules? In Outlook 2004 I could select an email, hit 'organise' and then create a rule to transfer emails from that sender to a particular folder. It was all very easy and straight forward.  - Displaying Group Name I have a number of Groups, let call them: My Bridge Club Family Members Coworkers etc. When I compose a message, only the e-mail addresses within that group appear in the header code of the e-mail: johnb@somewhere.com gsmith@shootme.org someguy@horizon.net etc. What I'd really like it to look like is this: Coworkers <johnb@somewhere.com>, <gsmith@shootme.org>, <someguy@horizon.net> In other words, I want them to see that I've named them Coworkers b/c it indicates to them WHY I have chosen to associate them in a group.  - bug! maybe you lose emails too and dont know?? HI! I am lossing emails! This is not acceptable! Since upgrading to=20 Entourage 2004 i have the following problem: I set up my mailbox in that = way that i can view them online in Entourage (you see on the left in the = Show=20 Folders window the mailbox account with a green line indicating it is = viewed=20 directly from the server which helps you deleting unwanted e-mails = before=20 you download them into your inbox). So very often when i check for new=20 messages I see quickly that there is some new mails on the server, but=20 sometimes by clicking on it to view them and sometimes also just=20 automatically they disappear from the list! I can also access my mailbox = with=20 an internet browser and there i find the mails which have disappeared in = the=20 Entourage Window, this is unacceptable, because if i would not know, = next=20 time I update my mailbox those would be deleted! I have not had this=20 problem in Entourage X. And for what using a mail programm if i have to=20 still constantly go and check my mails thru a browser??  - Sharing Probably been asked 2000 times before BUT Can anyone tell me how with Entourage 2004 on Desktop and Laptop I can simply and easily share stuff, so that when I bring Laptop home, contacts and appointments made on one machine will occur on the other?  - Deleted Items and Folders Disappearing I just started using Entourage on OSX to obtain email, using a college server. For some reason when I delete emails, they don't go to a deleted items folder - they just disappear, even though I have it set to store them. Then when I try and create a folder under the school's exchange server, those folders disappear. When I open Outlook Express on OS9, the folders are all there!  - Synchronizing Notes in Entourage X w/Palm handheld Memos When I synchronize between Entourage X and my Treo 600 handheld, the "memos" in the handheld are getting cut off -- the "notes" in Entourage are shorter. The amount missing is variable -- sometimes not at all, sometimes a lot, and the resulting notes are not cut off to some uniform amount of characters. But if anything is missing, it is the end part of the memo/note. The handheld continues to keep the full text of the memo. I don't think this is related, but I started noticing this after having to do an advanced rebuild of the Entourage database. Immediately following the advanced rebuild, I found that one memo/note had been duplicated in Entourage and a few were missing all contents in Entourage. The memos in the handheld were fine. I tried deleting all of the notes in Entourage and having the handheld overwrite Entourage, but the memos are still getting cut off. System info: Entourage X version 10.1.4 Treo 600 running Palm OS 5.2.1 and software version Treo600 1.13 AWS HotSync 3.1 on the desktop, HotSync v. 5.0 on the handheld (why is there a difference?) When going to Tools/Accounts and trying to edit one of my users account
settings, I get the message:
The action could not be completed.
An unknown error (-30588) occurred.
I can't find anywhere on MS' site about error codes.
Before I go deleting the account and recreating I thought I'd ask. The user
has thousands of emails and it took a very long time to download the info
from the exchange server.

This is a known issue that is caused by viewing complex HTML messages prior
to opening the Accounts window. You can work around it by re-launching
Entourage and then editing your account before opening any complex HTML
messages.
