MS Database Daemon?
Hello!
I just noticed something that I've never noticed before.
I'm running 10.3.4 with Office 2004, and in sys prefs, under accounts
there's something called a "Microsoft Database Daemon" in startup items.
It's not checked, but its there?! Anyone know what this does?
Thanks!

Hyperlinks Displayed in Entourage
I have been trying to create an html email in Netscape 7.1. I created
my code in Dreamweaver and have been pasting the code via the
Insert/HTML menu item in Netscape mail. The email has one image
hyperlinked and hyperlinks for email response and to a website. It
works beautifully in Apple mail and in Outlook for Windows. However,
when the mail is viewed by Entourage in Mac the hyperlinks do
something peculiar. Rather than making the text or image that I assign
to being a hyperlink, Entourage displays the link as a literal link
beside the image or text. I have pasted an example of the forward that
I received from the person that is viewing the email in Entourage for
Mac.

When I open a message or start a new one, the window opens at the left edge
of my screen.
On a large screen, that is annoying.
Is there a way to tease Entourage 04 into centering message windows or maybe
putting new ones where I left the last one?
Thanks in advance!
Best,
- Bill

Entourage databases on a central file server?
Hi all
We have a G4 file server, running simple file sharing to 5-6 users through
the Panther built-in file sharing thing - one user account on the server,
nothing fancy.
Everyone is using Entourage, and they currently store their databases on
their workstations. Is there any easy, no-brain way for their databases to
be located on the server, so they can be backed up?

I am looking for an AppleScript expert who can assist me with the following:
Start with any currently selected message in Entourage 2004.
Create a reply to the message (visibly or invisibly; does not matter)
using HTML format, and header style "horizontal line & From/To/Subject/Date"
Select all the reply contents (anything that would be copied in a normal
select all/copy function, including horizontal lines, fonts, and colors) and
paste into a Word 2004 document.
I have the script mostly set up but cannot get past the ³select all² and
³copy² because everything I try fails. I can extract the plain text and
paste that into Word but that is not what I am trying to do.
The Word document would look somewhat like this:

All users able to read email
Here's the situation: we have an iMac in a lab where 5 people work. Since
they collaborate and share a lot of their data, there is only one user
account on the iMac. Everybody logs in to the same account.
But, each user has their own IMAP email account. They use Entourage to
read their email and each has a user account in Entourage.
Here's the issue:
Jane Doe User comes up and opens Entourage. The Splash screen asks which
user she is; she does not choose Jane Doe. Instead, she chooses Joe User.
The IMAP server asks for Joe's password. She clicks cancel.. And the box
goes away, but now she can read any email that's in Bob's In Box. Not just
the stuff in the "On My Computer" but the stuff that's supposedly on the
server.
Okay, so I go to the account settings/options and change it to Always Leave
Messages On Server.
Same behavior: Jane Doe can still see the contents of Bob's inbox, despite
the fact that it's *supposedly* hasn't been downloaded. Even if Jane
selects Offline, she can still see it.
Anybody see this behavior before? Tag: Error -17790 (Unknown LDAP error) Tag: 41295

Entourage 2004 with Exchange GAL or Directory Services
Okay, here it is. Entourage v.X works great with Directory Services,
but the same configuration and the same search in Entourage 2004

to do with either the name of the server or the search base. I am

SMTP/SSL email sending problem with Entourage 2004 from T-Mobile Hotspot
Six months or so ago I resolved a problem that had been plaguing me

configured email sending to use it, solving the problem of sending
from any location I came across. Upgrading to Entourage 2004
hasthrown me back into the morass. Somehow it does not allow me to

Contacts problem with Entourage 2004
Hello,
I had to configure five Mac G4 OS X 10.2.8 with entourage 2004 so that
it functions with the Exchange 2000 server of our company. Everything works
fine for every Mac except one. I believe that the problem is the profile and
not a Mac problem.
Lets call the profile "Brigitte".
Here's the problem:
When I create a new message, and that I start to type the first letters of
the name of a new contact and then I click on the button "verify the names"
it gives me an error:
Error: An unknown error (-3248) occurred. Explanation: Error of LDAP server.
To see the error exactly, here's a print screen:
http://www.gecko-electronic.com/download/printscreen.pdf
I also checked the parameters of the LDAP server on every Mac and it's the
same thing on all the machines and the Brigitte profile is identical to
those machines.
I configured the Brigitte profile on my MAC and my entourage 2004, which
functions very well with my profiles and, with the Brigitte profile, I still
have the same
problem I mentioned above...
Thank you!

Entourage 2004 Crashes
Hello,
We seem to be getting an intermittent system freeze (kernel panic?)
when using Entourage 2004 connected to Exchange running on SBS2003.
Looking at the log at /var/log/windowsserver.log, the following
message seems to occur before the system crashes:
kCGErrorFailure: CGXDisableUpdate: UI updates were forcibly disabled
by application "SystemUIServer" for over 1 second. Server has
re-enabled them.
The Apple Mac runs:
Darwin 7.4.0 Darwin Kernel Version 7.4.0: Wed May 12 16:58:24 PDT

This is a major problem as this version of Entourage is the only one
that we have had any sucess connecting to our Exchange Server with.
The system runs a 450mhz processor, but was previously running a
1.25ghz processor from GigaDesigns - the G-Cellerator. Entourage
crashed while this upgrade chip was in the machine and the chip never
worked again - it has been sent back to the manufacturer for testing.

Spam and junk mail in Ent 04
Dear friends,
I use Entourage 2004, Italian language, with OsX 10.3.4.
The new junk mail filter works fine. I also receive mail from an account
that have a tag - ***spam*** - in the subject, becuase the server
detects the spam and send me the message with that tag. Strangely, the
junk mail filter doesn't filter the mail with the ***spam*** tag.
The basic solution is to create a rule for the tag ***spam*** in the
subject, but it's strange that the filter doesn't detect this kind of
maessages.

EntourageGPG with E 2004
Hi,
I'm using EntourageGPG with Entourage X since years without any
problems. With Entourage 2004 this scripts doesn't work any more.
Decryption is not possible and with encryption/sign the signature is
bad: There are some signs insight the pgp-mail wich changes the mail
after encryption/clearsign.
In the moment I start Mail.app to encrypt/decrypt mails (by the way the
encryption tool is much better implemented in mail.app than in
Entourage).
I'm using EntourageGPG V 1.3 and I use "clearsign" without pgp-mime in
normal cases. gpg is in version 1.2.3.
Any solutions?

I do not have a dial-up modem account with any ISP, yet the modem continues
to dial out whenever the Entourage file is open. This is annoying because it
slows some processes, and interjects on top of my document, its ³A modem
failure has occurred² every 15 minutes. The only way I can prevent this is
if I quit Entourage altogether?but then I lose out on the automatic mail
check that I run on my cable service. Any idea how to resolve this?
Thanks!

I guess it¹s a miracle more of this does not happen.
When it does though, are we doomed to stare at the droolingly stupid and
offensive subject line every time we check the group?
Is there some way to purge messages from the system/folder or wherever
Entourage stores them?
My other news readers make that extremely easy to do. Entourage seems to
have no capability whatever.
Say it ain¹t so?
Any hints, clues, comfort to offer?
Thanks!
Best,
- Bill

2004 - Duplicate downloads of mail left on POP server
Hi,
I have several POP mail accounts, and I leave a week's worth of email on the
server to protect against email loss between backups. Occasionally,
Entourage 2004 will "forget" that it already has local copies of my emails
that are on the server, and it will download all of them again, leaving me
with duplicates.
What's interesting is it only affects one account at a time. For example,
two weeks ago, Entourage re-downloaded all my POPaccount1 emails, but today
it wants to re-download all of my POPaccount2 emails.
I have not rebuilt my database (I know the complex type will cause emails on
the server to be fetched again), and I cannot seem to find a cause. Any
ideas?
And I'm sorry if this has been covered already.
Thanks in advance.

Multiple Incoming Messages in Entourage?
Outlook allows you to set up the same e-mail address with different
outgoing servers so you can send messages from various locations. It
also allows you to turn OFF recieving of accounts so you don't end up
with multiple copies of the same message to each of these accounts. I
can't seem to find a place to control recieving in Entourage. As a
result, with one e-mail address set up with three configurations...you
end up with 3 copies of every incoming message!

Tasks in Projects
The list of tasks in the Projects section keeps coming un-sorted.
Everytime I quit Entourage and then open it up again, they're
un-sorted.
How can I keep them sorted by priority?

Delete error from POP 2004
Hi gang, I'm having a major deletion issue on Entourage 04. I have a pop
account, with the option to 'save a copy on the server' enabled. When I get
the message list on my inbox, I have the orange/yellow envelope noting that
the message exists on the server. When I open the message, I have a
hyperlink listed stating 'Delete Message from the Server'.
When I delete the message from the server, it still exist on my inbox
listing, only missing the envelope, meaning it's no longer on the server. At
the next send/receive, the message re-appears, leaving me with 2 messages.
One on the server, and one not.
Is there any known deletion issues? I understand it could be a server thing,
but does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff Tag: Error -17790 (Unknown LDAP error) Tag: 41211
LDAP and Entourage
Like most other people who upgraded to Entourage 2004 with an Exchange
2000 email server, I found myself trying to figure out why I kept
getting errors in LDAP queries after I'd upgraded.
"An unknown error (-17768) has occurred."
"An unknown error (-17766) has occurred."
"An unknown error (-3248) has occurred."
I found the following worked for me:
I had to edit the directory services account (tools, accounts,
directory services; edit the account in question by modifying the
DIRECTORY tab):
Adjust the search base to read:
dc=mydomain,dc=com
And I also had to check
"This server requires me to log on"
I needed to ensure the following was UNchecked:
Override default LDAP port 389 Tag: Error -17790 (Unknown LDAP error) Tag: 41209

Tungsten T3 and Entourage
In sum, it seems that I have to upgrade to 2004 to use the Palm and
Entourage. Can anyone please confirm?
I have deleted all the other conduits from my folder, and still the
synching fails on the calendar. I have not yet successfully completed
a synch, although I have my addresses and emails ported over from
Address and Mail.

network mac and windows workstations
Hey Everyone,
I need to network a Mac 9.0 pc with several window
workstations including win98,winme,xp.
It's peer to peer only with TCP/IP as the main protocol.
All workstations need to share their resources. I believe
Appletalk
is used as the client to bind to the TCP/IP but may be
mistaken in a
peer to peer environment. Any suggestion and links to
resources would be helpful. Many thanks.

Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this recurring message?
I was sending a message with a few photos and a word document and as I
clicked send, the error message popped up saying:
An unknown error (4363) occurred.
³Mail could not be sent.

Now, whenever I click on ?Send and receive¹ I get the the same error

it has been lost?!
I have tried running the verify database utility and it comes back with no
errors!

Spontaneous Entourage 2004 / Palm Syncing failure
I installed Entourage 2004 about 2 weeks ago, ran the Handheld Sync
Installer App and was pleasantly surprised that syncing with my Treo
600 was entirely smooth from there. Last night I tried a routine sync
and noticed it went extraordinarily quickly. Then I noticed the
calendar on my Palm hadn't been modified. After repeeating several
times I opened up HotSync Manager and found that double clicking on
the Entourage Conduit had no effect. Pursuant to a post on here I
tired trashing the Palm desktop Info file. I tried reinstalling the
Handheld Sync oapp. I tried trashing all existing Entourage conduits.
Nothing has worked. Help! Tag: Error -17790 (Unknown LDAP error) Tag: 41190
