 - exchange and entourage I have tried to set up an exchange account in Entourage 2004 (OS X) but only the junk mail folder is displayed.. So I have no inbox, sent mail, drafts etc. Logging into the account appears to work. I have no problem with the account using Webmail on the Mac or Outlook on a pc.  - problem with large emails being left on server Hi All Very new to Entourage so apologies, one of our users travels alot so he sets his entourage to "only download first 500k of email" At the min there are 19 large emails left in his mail account. When he goes to "download all mail from server" it download the first 500k of them but if we delete them they stay on the server even though we have "delete mail from server when deleted from account" We don't want to download the full 19 emails if it can be helped.  - update message list? Hello, I am using Entourage 2004 (latest update), and OS X 10.3.9. My mail provider is Mailstreet.com, which hosts exchange mail. My ISP is Comcast. When I launch entourage, it checks my mails, synchronizes all folders, calendar, address book etc. It sends mail fine. It usually receives mail fine. but often when I launch the program, it'll connect to the server and update my message once, then do nothing. sometimes it will receive further messages as they come, but often it just sits there. If i want to be sure no new messages have arrived, I have to quit and relaunch to get it to synchronize again. Apple-L to "refresh" the message list doesn't work in entourage 2004. Is there any solution to this? It's such a great program, but this is a major flaw. Not only does it not constantly ping the exchange server to retrieve my new mail the instant it arrives at the server, but also there is no more easy workaround (Apple-L). thank you in advance for any information you can provide.  - Entourage doesn't work with Exchange 2003 Just upgraded our Exchange to 2003 version. All the Email clients (Outlooks 2000 and 2003) work just fine. However a user on OSX with Entourage and Mail can't connect to the Exchange server. Hitting Send and Receive doesn't produce any error messages and doesn't download any emails. All the settings are correct. Tried following an article that i've found on the internet which said to use ip address of the server instead of DNS name but that didn't help. Can ping exchange server successfully from the lap using either IP or FQDN and am able to access the internet. Any other ideas would be much appreicated.  - Can't delete email messages from Exchange server Mac OSX 10.3.x all latest downloads MS office for Mac 2004 Entourage all latest mdownloads Connect to Exchange Server at work for work emails. I am unable to flag a message to "delete from server at next connection" in any of the server mailboxes. The function works beacuse I also use POP accounts 'on my computer" for personal mail and when you do this a small red icon appears next to the server icon and it does what is says. If I move a message from the "server" inbox to a mailbox "on my computer" it still will not flag message or " delete from server at next connection". I would be grateful for any help. as I cannot see that there is a perference to set this. is this a function of the Exchange server software ? or a setting in the exchange server ? You help would be appreciated as I have to continually manage my server mailbox as it fills up on a regular basis.  - Advice/best sync conduit for Entourage? I could sure use some of you all's advice...I am frustrated by the significant limitations with Microsoft's Entourage X sync conduit. It isn't just that the categories in Datebk5 (a good 3rd party Palm calendar program) all turn to "None" in Entourage...but the fact that some portions of my addresses in the Palm just inadvertantly dissappear, causing me to lose important info without even realizing it. Also, when I edit or delete events on the Palm, after the sync they revert back to what Entourage had, which pretty much means I have to make all changes and deletions out of Entourage...NOT my palm! I am certainly open to other options, including the Entourage 2004 conduit or some 3rd party conduit, but I would rather decide based on all of your prior experience. What say you?  - can not print calendar despite removing templates I have been unable to print a calendar ever since I installed Entourage 2004. I have tried removing the calendar templates many times over to no avail, even though that seems to have worked for many here I can't find any other ideas. Running Entourage 11.1.1.1 now.  - Entourage 2004 Crashed - launches nothing more I'm not an IT person but have been using Entourage since v98. Now in Entourage 2004, running OS 10.2.8, it crashed and I can no longer access the Main Window or Preferences. I sent the error info off to Microsoft but certainly don't expect any feedback from them. The application launches but won't bring up the Main Window and I can only 'force quit' it. I've tried running the Remove Office utility and reinstalling but no joy. I subsequently installed the 11.1.0 and 11.1.1 updates but there's been no change. Any help from your experience would be appreciated. Get error message when I try to open Entourage on laptap. In the past, I have moved the usa data file from my office computer to the laptop with no problem. Nothing has changed!  - Private/Hidden Records I just got a Zire 72 to replace a Zire 71 that died on me. With the 71, I was able to set it up so that hidden records would stay hidden on the desktop as well, but I can't seem to find that setting on the 72. Also, all of my hidden records have disppeared completely and I can't find them anywhere now. Are the lost forever??? I use hidden records for things like account info, as well as my personal journal. Is there another way to accomplish what I want that would be easier? Any help is greatly appreciated!  - VPN problems connecting to Exchange server I cannot set up Entourage via my company's VPN. I get a message that my Exchange server is unavailable. Full detail is at the bottom of this message, but in summary my setup details: Mac: OSX 10.3.8 Entourage: Office 2004 VPN Client: Netlock Contivity (Nortel) Corporate network uses proxys for HTTP, HTTPS, etc Mac OSX Firewall: On. Ports 135 (Exchange) and 500 (Netlock) are open. IP address assigned by DSL modem and appearing in "Network" system preference panel: 220.236.xx.xx IP address Nortel Contivity Switch: 61.88.xx.xx IP address assigned to my Mac by Nortel Contivity Switch: 10.64.xx.xx IP address Exchange Server: 10.18.xx.xx Entourage Errors: Entourage error connecting to my Exchange server: -3260 Entourage error connecting to my Exchange server if I replace its name with its IP address: 114 (If I put my Exchange server IP address in my "proxy bypass" list in "Network" system preference panel: -3260) The curious thing is some aspects of the setup work. An LDAP server is found which works (I can look up people's names). It finds the Exchange server my account is assigned to (SOCNTE008) but it cannot connect to the server itself. Also if I enter a non-existent user ID I get an error that "the network you connected to doesn't recognise your name, password or domain. Check the settings and try again." So some server is being polled, and recognising what is and is not a valid user ID. I can use Apple Mail (IMAP) to read mail on socnte008.companyname.com.au, but clearly this does not offer me the full Entourage capabilities. Any clues as to what is going on with Entourage?  - Entourage 2004 'Inbox' and other issues Problems are recent-client is unsure if they existed prior to OS X 10.3.8 update. A large amount of old mail is saved in several 'named' folders and there were some 'rules' enabled but no criteria that appeared related to her complaints. #1: Received mail does not show up in the Inbox-it is immediately 'transferred' to Mail Views/Received Today folder? 'Inbox'on sidebar shows unread messages (1) but Inbox window shows "There are no messages in this folder that are both flagged and unread." #2: Messages 'stay' in their original location (e.g., Sent, Received Today or other folders) after being 'dragged' to a 'named' folder. A 'copy' does show up in the 'named' folder. These problems existed prior to the latest 'Office' update and the only 'difference noted' after the update was that some messages 'disappeared'from their location in the 'Received Since_' folder. Client wasn't sure but said that she had previously 'moved' some of those message to a 'saved' folder-while others 'disappeared' entirely after the update?  - Some message bodies lost during export (>Mail AND >Entourage I decided to export some of my many saved messages into Mail so that I can take advantage of Spotlight when Tiger comes out in the next few weeks. All went smoothly but I noticed that not all of the message bodies exported. These were originally on an IMAP account, which I suspect has something to do with it. In any case, I tried transferring this mailbox to the POP account and exporting. Same result. Drag to desktop, save as mbox; same results. Restore from backup database; same result! So, now it appears I lost a 1,000 messages or so. Any ideas. I already deleted the original mailbox from the IMAP server, which was obviously a big mistake. But I thought all had exported/imported properly. Thought, too, it might be a Mail issue; but now Entourage has the same issues as well. Thanks in advance.  - Missing emails I am using Entourage 2004 at work on Exchange and Windows 2003 server. The problem is that if any email has puncuation in the subect line (i.e. "&" or "... "or "+" etc) Entourage does not pick it up. I also note if I try opening the e-mail via WEBMAIL it opens up as "Page not available" Anybody have an idea what the problem is?  - Outlook XP to Entourage 2004: Problems with importing I have followed the steps recommended here and elsewhere about the exporting of e-mail formed in Outlook to Entourage. I have successfully converted the e-mail created in Outlook into the MBOX format and it has successfully migrated from the PC to the Mac. However, when I try to import into Entourage I am unable to activate the folders to complete the process. The folders will not allow me to click on them, and the "Import" button remains inactive.  - Address Preferences Is there a way to have names displayed along with the suffix (Jr, Sr, etc.) I see a box for the suffix in the contact form, but it displays in any lists as only 1st and last names. Also, why is it when I create a distribution list some names are first name first, some are last name first. They are all listed correctly in the individual contact folders.  - Exporting Contacts I have 50+ e-mail addresses that I would like to export to a CSV file. The names are in a distribution list, yet I can't seem to export them or even cut and paste into excel.  - Applescript and Rules Hello, I am running os10.3.8 and entourage x. I have a few email accounts that are checked for new messages on a schedule (every 5 minutes). I created a rule that uses an applescript to speak the name of the account that any new mail arrives in. for example, if there is a new message (using pop server, not imap) on the server after the check mail script is run for account A, the rule is applied, the applescript is run, and the comnputer says "account A". The problem I am running into is in the situation when there is more than one new message for an account, the computer says "account A" "account A".... In the morning when I first check the email, there may be 20 messages and it just repeats and repeats. I only want the computer to say the account name once if there is new mail. If there a way that I can apply a rule to only the first message of each account? Perhaps I could create an applescript that checks the mail and tells me the number of new messages on each account?  - Migrate from Outlook 2001 to Entourage 2004 Hello all, We recently switched our Exchange server from v5.5 to 2003, which means our Mac users can finally get rid of Outlook 2001 and go to Entourage 2004 (last OS 9 problem left in our building!). Here is the problem that I am having: The groups (Distribution Lists) that the users created in the Outlook 2001 Contacts folder don't migrate over to Exchange 2004. The individual contact names migrate just fine, but the groups didn't make it. Now, some users have 30+ people in their old Distribution Lists (Outlook 2001) and I don't really want to have to manually re-create the groups in Entourage. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can migrate the old Distribution Lists in Outlook 2001 into Groups on Entourage 2004? Thanks in advance for any help...  - Large Attachments Not Sending I'm having a problem that it appears others are having on this list. Upon finding their problems, I have already gone through some troubleshooting: 1. I have verified that my Exchange Server allows large file size attachements. It is currently allowing any file size...no limitations. 2. I have rebuilt my database to assure that there aren't any corrupted files. 3. I'm using a cable connection at the office. To compound the problem, I am able to go into Virtual PC and, using Outlook, send the same message attachment without any problems. This isn't a server problem...it is an Entourage problem. Now that we have all of that out of the way, I'm getting the same message others are mentioning. The file attempts to send...varying in the amount that it sends before crapping-out. For instance, it may hit 30% or so...or even get to 99% or so and then give me an error. This is the error I receive: "Mail could not be received at this time. The server for account "TVPPA" returned the error "Login failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?" Now keep in mind that this message only comes after the send errors out. I have already received e-mail, synchronized all files with the server, etc. This isn't a simple "this guy doesn't have the correct password" problem. The fix the error, I'm forced to delete the outbound message and relaunch Entourage. At that point, everything works fine. It only occurs when I am sending a large attachment (14MB in this current case, but as little as 5MB that I'm currently aware of. Also, FYI, I have only started getting this problem. I began working in January with my new MAC...recently a PC convert...and started having the problem in March...as I recall. Could this be something from an upgrade? Please help!  - Entourage 10.1.6 and TLS Heya all I'm having a problem trying to get Entourage X to use SMTP authentication over TLS. The account setting are setup to use a secure connection, but when ever it attempts to send email it gives the error that "Entourage doesn't support the requested authentication method". Using the OSX mail.app programme, I can send no problem from the same Mac. I've also tried this on 4 different Mac's and none of the work with Entourage. I'm also tried using OE, OL2000 and Thunderbird/Mozilla on a Windows PC, and all work fine - it's just Entourage that refuses to work. Are there any known issues with this? I can't find any info on the MS site, and I've found some vague references on the net that Entourage X has a broken implementation of TLS/SSL and does not work, and I need to grade to version 11. I'm having trouble adapting to the different rules and would be grateful for some clues about managing newsgroup messages.  - Entourage Rules not working! Recently my only rule quit working in Entourage 2004. It's created as: "From Contains half.com"; Then the category is set to a category I created called "Sold Item @ Half.com".  - Automatic Deletion from Inbox, Sent Mail (undesired) About a month ago my Entourage 2004 installation on OS X 10.3.8 using an Exchange server started moving messages from the inbox and sent mail folders into the deleted folder. This seems to happen during the scheduled updates. I thought it might be related to running Outlook on another computer simultaneously but not so. The installation had worked fine for about 6 months before this new behaviour started. No new rules or anything like that seems to be the case (it only happens when Entourage is running). IT here is stumped so far. Any suggestions?  - Items stuck in the Deleted Items folder After trying to empty the deleted items folder I received message "The Action Can not be Completed. Mail Error" and Entourage was locked up. Did a force quit and restarted. Looked in the deleted items folder and found one message remaining with a bunch of gray lines under it. Looks to me like I have a bad email and it has corrupted the deleted items folder from that point down. How can I get rid of the bad stuff or is it possible to delete the deleted items folder and create a new one?  - Entourage error 23016 with Exchange Server 2003 After over a year of running flawlessly, my office Entourage email has suddenly packed up. It cannot send or receive any messages from my corporate email account, and always gives me error message -23016. I consulted the Entourage Errors page mentioned in this group, but none of the fixes are applicable. I called our IT department and no changes were made to our server app (Microsoft Exchange Server 2003) recently, so I am assuming that isn't the problem. Any idea where to begin trouble-shooting?  - [TIP] obtaining the certificate of a server Hi All, I was reading the OmniWeb Help files yesterday and found the most interesting paragraph for certificates in the "Advanced Topics". Some servers use self signed certificates and Entourage complains that the certificate is unknown. To get the cert, you can of course request it from the Administrator, but in more than one case, the admin doesn't send the cert and people are left out with the warning every time they try to get their mail over SSL. Here is what the OmniWeb Help offers as a workaround: OmniWeb Help > Avanced Topics: If that doesn't work, then you can ask the server itself for its certificates. Open a Terminal window and type openssl s_client -showcerts -connect SERVERHOSTNAME:443 (where SERVERHOSTNAME is, of course, the server's hostname. The "443" is the normal port number for HTTPS.) This should spit out a few pages of information, starting with the word "CONNECTED" and ending with a line of three dashes. Hit control-C to quit openssl. In the middle of the output should be the certificate chain offered by the server. There might just be one certificate, or there might be several. The first certificate is the server's own certificate. The next one is the certificate of whoever issued the server's certificate, followed by whoever issued that cert, and so on until you reach the root of authority. That last one is the one you want. Copy-and-paste it (including the BEGIN/END lines) into a text file, ideally one whose name ends in ".pem". 2. Put the certificate where OmniWeb will find it. I recommend using the keychain, because then you can see (and delete) the certificate using Keychain Access. To add a certificate (in .pem format) to your keychain, type the following command in a terminal window: certtool i /path/to/pemfile You can do this by just typing certtool i , with the trailing space, and then dragging the .pem file's icon onto the window. Anyway, certtool should respond "certificate successfully imported", and you can then see the certificate in Keychain Access and it will be used by OmniWeb. If you want to store the cert in one of the RootCerts.pem files mentioned above, you can just move/rename the .pem file you have, or (if the other .pem file already exists) append the new block of text to the existing list of certs. The order of certs in a .pem file doen't matter. video with ether windows media or QuickTime

I have tried to view the same email in other applications Mall.app on the
Mac works fine and outlook on the pc it works as well

Never mind twas a silly idea it doesn't work on pcs so there is no need
windows media player dosent seem to like the mac all that much
