Hi,

I've setup a user on my network, who works with a G5, to use Entourage 2004
to connect to our Exchange 2003 server. Everything is setup fine and seems
to basically work as it should. However, the user is complaining that he
gets the beachball while working with the program after a sync has begun.
Paticularly when composing a new message. I've noticed the problem myself,
and I've seen it on other Macs that we have. The beachball lasts around
10-15 seconds. It appears that Entourage is hickuping when too much activity
is happening during a sync.

Is this a normal problem? Is everyone else experiencing the same thing?

I have deleted/re-added the account, rebuilt the database, reset the sync,
re-installed Office. Nothing has seemed to change it, on any of my Macs.

Also, does anyone have any detailed technical info on what is actually
occuring during the sync so I can see if it is software issue, or maybe a
network issue?

Thanks,
David

I've seen that on very large and complex databases. Some people with
either a huge Exchange account or people who had created projects with
e-mail discussion lists for instance that would require Entourage to
sync and process each e-mail to add them to the various projects. Could
that be the case here ??

Hi,

I don't believe any discussion lists are being used. I'll check to see if
there are any rules setup for e-mail filtering. What do you consider a huge
exchange account? The ones I'm dealing with are around 100-200MB.

Thanks

If the account is setup to download everything, it's pretty bug already.
What happens if you setup Entourage to only partially receive e-mails
over 50k ?? Does it get any better ??
