 - Filtering or Finding on Company is slowwww One of my users has thousands of contacts. When filtering by name, the results are nearly instantaneous, but when filtering by company, it's very slow. This holds true with both the QuickFIlter and the Find tool. Is this normal behavior, or a corrupt index? Can a rebuild fix it?  - Entourage Mac vs. Exchange 2000 Standard Hi,=20 I'm trying to figure out if this problem is an exchange server related=20 problem or a client-side misconfiguration problem... About three Entourage Mac (v10.1.4) clients here have been experiencing=20 this problem while retrieving their inbox: "Mail could not be received at this time" "Unspecified Server Error: 0x50b" Despite this message, new mail is retrieved from the server; however two = of=20 the clients' inboxes indicate that they contain unread messages (ie. = bold=20 "INBOX (1)" in the side panel), yet no unread messages are indicated in = the=20 list view. I've rebuilt the inbox cache in Entourage, but to no avail. On the Exchange server (2000 Standard), the event log message that=20 coresponds to the Entourage error is:=20 Source: IMAP4SVC ID: 1023 Message: Error error code occurred while rendering message message id = for=20 download for user name. Explanation: This is an occasional timing error caused by not locking = the=20 mailbox during use. This can be safely ignored unless these errors occur = frequently. That's fine, but it happens EVERY time they try to retrieve mail. Does = anyone=20 have any information on the cause of this and how to fix it?  - Alphabetized Address book & Company Names Hi, A topic that has been touched but w/o any resolution. I have several contacts that are just company names (eg. Restaurants, etc.). When I try to sort the names in the Address book, the records with only company names are at the top (assuming A-Z ordering) and all jumbled (I think it is date added). Anyway, to make sure they are ordered. As an fyi, I have done the following but didn't work 1. Rebuilt database 2.  - Check Name Feature Available When Creating Contact Groups in Entourage 2004? The "Check Names" feature in Entourage 2004 works great to pull contacts from our Exchange server when composing an email, but is there a way to use this when adding a contact to a group in the address book? I don't see the "Check Names" button and the old Outlook keyboard shortcut for this (Cmd-K) wasn't carried over into Entourage 2004. Anyone know of a solution?  - Overview page in Entourage I really like the Overview page in the project center (and which is also available in Outlook 2003, where this weeks calendar, recent mail, files, notes etc are all displayed.  - sync two computers via palm I am trying to sync identical Entourage Profiles, specifically Calendar via a Treo 600. same software and conduit settings on both One Machine is an 800mhz iMac other is a 1.2ghz G4 Powerbook. Original Sync was performed via the iMac to the Treo, this sync works reliably. Updating the Powerbook is unreliable. Is anyone doing this successfully?  - Read Receipts (or am I just stupid) Hi There, OK, so I know that read receipts are not compulsory under rfc822 but how do I get Entourage to ask for one anyway? I can't see it on any of the options or in the Help system but they're in Outlook (under Windoze) so why not in Entourage? Actually my real problem is our works VPN and firewall. If I'm outside the firewall and send a mail using my works address to someone inside the wall, it gets rejected (with no error messages) because I'm not inside the firewall. Entourage thinks it went OK, the recipient doesn't get anything. Not good!! I could get around it OK if our VPN was 100% reliable -- I could get inside using the VPN and then mail doesn't get rejected -- but it's not. What I'm looking for is something to indicate that the mail got through. Anyone got any hints? I suppose I could attach a signature from some web server somewhere with a hit counter that says the recipient looked up the server? Only problem is most people have "download images" turned off to stop spammers doing just that.  - Read Receipts Am I correct in saying that Entourage does not utilize read and delivery = receipts, a feature that even it's free Outlook Express for Windows has? = My=20 understanding is that you can set up Entourage so all out going messages = request a read receipt, but that if those messages are sent to = Entourage, no=20 receipt will be returned. So, that's not really a viable work around. If I am wrong, how do you access the feature as I cannot find it = anywhere in=20 the help files--online, locally, etc. If I am correct, which I think is the case, is there a work around? = Also, is=20 there any way to get Microsoft to add this feature as an update. = Microsoft=20 likes to leave Macs in the dust at times, but really, this feature is = how old=20 now?  - Trouble replying to sender I recently upgraded to Panther and my Entourage is acting funny. When I = click reply to a message, the address it automatically replies to is = mine, not=20 the sender's. =20 When I look at the mail preferences though, the box next to "reply using = default address" is not checked. Is there a way to disable the dock from bouncing when receiving mail (in Entourage 2004) (especially when the mail is transferred to junk via a rule) and yet preferably to also keep the notifican alerts?  - Selecting folders for synchronization I recently setup Entourage 2004 to work with my company's Exchange 2000 Server. It works great, but I'm highly disappointed with the time it takes to sync. I have lots of folders and lots of messages in each of them. I've setup a schedule to do "Send and Receive All" every 10 minutes, but I don't want to sync all the folders everytime. Is there a way I can select which folders to synchronize in a schedule ? When I edit my schedules, there's a box which says "Click here for Account Options" but that doesn't do anything. I just get greyed out files in the import window when I get to my older MS User Data. The window behind it says it is importing... but after a period of time.. 30 minutes...  - Re-Occuring All-Day events display on wrong day FIX Hey gang. I"m new to the group and I'm positive this has been driving everyone else crazy. If you're not familiar with the problem, I'll explain it briefly.. then my work around below. Problem: I make an 'all-day' event. No problem. event shows on correct day in calendar view, etc... Once you make the even occur multiple times and save it, the event jumps to the wrong day in the caledar view. It appears to be a time-zone issue. When you make the event, the yellow warning bar says 'Event and computer time zones do not match. in calendar views the event time is adjusted to display correctly.' It appears as if Entourage always thinks my mac's timezone is Central (US & Canada). If I change the event's time zone to central, the warning goes away. I ran the experiment setting my mac to pacific time zone, and then the default event time zone (in preferences). When I make a new event, it still shows the error, stating that the event and mac are set to different time zones. Again, setting the event back to central, clears up the problem. My current work around has been to simply set my mac, and Entourage prefs to Central time zone, and I dont appear to have any problems. Although who knows what will happen once the bug is fixed, and I change my mac back to eastern central time zone like it's supposed to be. If this issue has been addressed...  - Cannot send "clean" HTML to MS Outlook on PC Here's a situation for which I've been unable to find a decent solution. Trying to send an HTML message from Entourage on a Mac to be viewable on both Macs and MS Outlook on a PC. The original message is created in an HTML editor. The HTML code is "clean" and uses styles so that it can serve as an easy-to-use template for subsequent messages utilizing the same format. The trick to sending is to use Tools:Accounts:Options to create an additional header "context-type:text/html." I can then cut and paste the HTML code text into the body of the message and send as HTML e-mail without setting the Entourage Format to HTML. This works great on all Mac e-mail clients I've encountered, but it does NOT work on a PC running MS Outlook! For some unfortunate reason, MS Outlook on the PC ignores the text/html header and just displays the plain text. If I try to send the message as Format:HTML then Entourage applies all its own HTML formatting code. Same thing happens if message is sent from Word using File:Send to: Mail Recipient (as HTML). I want to send the "clean" HTML code, i.e. matching a web page, so its readable on a Mac or a PC. Paul Berkowitz has created some wonderful AppleScripts for Entourage to facilitate the sending of complex HTML messages, but as best I can discover, none of these will send the "clean" HTML code; they all let Entourage create its own version of the HTML. Is there any way for force Entourage to send HTML code which is readable using MS Outlook on a PC, or must I utilize another program for sending this mail? If so, any suggestions?  - Display new News messages difficulty Good day all, I have begun taking a class at the University of Phoenix and my whole experience revolves around newsgroups. All classroom dialog and interaction is in the groups. I am having difficulty understanding why when I set up my entourage 2004 client to check for new messages every 5 minutes it works fine for the mail accounts but no new news messages are discovered until I actually go to the subscribed group. I hit send and receive all day long or wait for the I am checking for new messages in "x" minutes to occur and no new messages. I click on the subscribed newsgroup and then it actually checks the server and discovers the new messages. I really like the threaded view I was able to create with a custom arrangement and don't want to have to use another viewer. I don't seem to have the problem in Thunderbird or Unison but since I already have entourage open for other mail I would prefer to use it. Just for clarity: All I am looking for is the subscribed newsgroup to turn BOLD if there are new unread messages. Without needing to physically go and click on each newsgroup to check.  - Entourage 2004 Snyc problem I recently (yesterday if fact) rolled out Entourage 2004 in an Exchange environment and it all seemed reasonably painless. I had to enter an IP address rather than domain name for the servers but other than that it all seemed to go well. Some of the people have very large mail folders on the server and when I left 2 of the client machines were still synchronising the mail folders. Now 32 hours later I'm told that one machine still has not completed this initial synchronisation which seems wrong to me. Up till now everything has been dandy using Outlook 2001. This machine had previously installed the Office 2004 tryout which had the same problem but we figured that installing the release version might fix it. I ran the Remove Office App before installing it and created a new identity for this install. I would very much appreciate any suggestions as to how to resolve this. The first thing I think I should try is a database rebuild but I don't know if that's going to change what's going on at the server end.  - Phantom reoccuring events We are running Windows 2000 Exchange and 99% of our network is running Windows 2000 Pro and XP. We have a couple of Mac users that have the latest version of Entouage installed. Our secretary has delegate permission to one of the MAC users accounts. The problem we are seeing is that when either the user or secretary enters a reoccuring event and the Mac is syncronized some events show up in the calendar of the Mac and when the secretary opens his account on the server she may see different reoccuring events.  - Preview Pane Prefs/Settings I recently upgarded to MAc OSX and the new version of Entourage, and I sorely miss one feature of the OS9 version: In Entourage for OS9, I could have different preview pane settings for different folders. I.E. I preferred not to have a preview pane for my Inbox so that I would not have to preview Spam. But I liked having the preview pane for my folders into which I would sort my already-read non-spam email messages. I cannot figure out a way to do this with Entourage 2004 for OSX version 11.0.0. Any Suggestions?  - Feature Request Project Center Entourage 2004 Hi, i'd like to raise my voice about something i think is lacking in Project Center. Currently ProjectCenter does not allow for Synchronisation of Email in Projects. I can understand the reasons for this limitation if someone does Pop only Email. In my case, i am exclusively on IMAP accounts and any machine i can access, has access to the same IMAP Accounts. In this scenario, it should not be impossible to also Synchronize Email Messages. As we know the IMAP-Account and have the IMAP Message-ID, this is all one needs to Sync emails associated to a project IMHO. This shouldn't be too hard to do - not harder than synching files IMHO. Are you adding the conference room as a resource or as an invitee? I
can't find any option to add a resource to a meeting... therefore a
delegate always has to accept my resource booking, which is a PITA and
can result in me losing the room!
