How do I stop Entourage from removing all the messages from my online Hotmail
account. When I check my emails in entourage, I can then no longer find them
in Hotmail.

I've tried looking through all the preferences, but can't find anything!

I hope someone can help me.

Cheers, Derek

This sounds like something that would be set in Hotmail setting through your
web browser.

I think Derek needs to check the box "Leave a copy of each message on the
server" in the Options tab of the Account Settings dialog.

First I think the reference to the account settings is probably on the
Entourage side not the Hotmail Live side.

If you set up your hotmail in Entourage as an http access account then
you will not see an option to leave on the server. If you set it up as
POP access to hotmail then you will see a place to leave on server.

If all your messages from hotmail are being moved to your local inbox,
you may also want to check your rules (note there are multiple tabs)
and the mailing list manager to see if something has been created to
move the messages.

How do I get the pop details. I didn't think you could do that with hotmail.
The new mac mail doesn't have http, only pop or imap, so could I add hotmail
to that as well?

Cheers

Sorry, I use the hotmail/msn account type in Entourage now. I did use
POP access a long time ago but don't have the information on the
servers anymore.

I don't use Apple Mail either but I do remember that in order to
access hotmail with Apple Mail, you have to download a plugin that
will allow Apple Mail to add that as a account type. Here is an
explanation that may get you started.

I've been wanting to close out my hotmail account for a whle. I
rarely use it, but I have a few important emails in there that I would
like to hold onto. All I have to do is pay that extra $20 to access
hotmail from Entourage so that I can pull my emails out right? I would
like to take my messages out and drag and drop them into my gmail
account.

Is this all feasible?

You could forward them via your web browser to your gmail address.

Yeah, but then I wouldn't be able to keep all the header info intact.
With drag and drop via IMAP I would - no?
