 - Rebuilt database _ lost archived email I needed to re-build my Entourage database. Afterwards, I found all saved messages sorted into specific subfolders had vanished. Yet all the messages that were in the main "inbox" remain present. So a couple of years worth of correspondence kept in various "subfolders" appear to be gone. Yet the subfolders themselves are still present. Does anyone know what has happened or if the messages are irretrievably lost? (aaack!) How can I back up (and restore, if neccesary) old correspondence and prevent this from happening again? Can I restore the missing messages via the "Old Database" found in the Users Folder? I can't find a way to do this. I obviously did something very stupid. As the human fly in the movie said, "Help me. Help me."  - Problem Reinstalling Identity (MS Entourage from Office X for Mac) I recently installed a new hard drive on my PB G3 Pismo. I also upgraded to OS 10.3 (I was using 10.2 before). Now after I moved my Identity onto the new drive I can't open Entourage. I first get a message asking me to rebuild so I do. It gives me a (-40) error and asks if I want to try advanced rebuild, so I do and I get the same error followed by a message that the Identity may not be able to be fixed. This was working fine before I switched out hard drives. I do have a message that pops up when starting other MS Office software, "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Fameworks X Library". But other that that they all seem to work fine. Any advice or help? I really need to retreive some messges in that file.  - Entourage X and Exchange 2003: VERY slow!!! I've been spending my morning synching Entourage with Exchange (my company just upgraded from 5.5 SP4 to Exchange 2003). Using IMAP only as before, it now allows me to respond to meeting requests. However, today I did enable a full Exchange account in Entourage and it is taking FOREVER to sync. I'm now up to almost 3 hours. During this time, I cannot do much of anything (I now have Mail.app set up to access my work account so I'm not out of luck!). Will the speed improve, or will I always get the spinning ball? The reason I'm concerned is that if I force-quit and relaunch Entourage as an offline client, it still is very slow to respond if I do much of anything offline.  - Problems Sending Word Attachments with embedded graphics I have no trouble sending Word file attachments from Entourage X, as long as they don't have a picture or graphics file inside. When they do, the message stalls, "Progress" shows partial sending of the message, but it gets stuck and never gets sent. I get several error codes, most frequently 2004.  - SMTP Auth over SSL - again I've seen a few messages in the archive about problems with SMTP Auth and Entourage. Can anyone say for sure whether Entourage X supports SMTP Auth over SSL? I don't think it can. Our campus mail server requires SMTP Auth over SSL for SMTP connections from outside the campus IP space. Just about *every other client* is able to do this except Entourage (and Outlook Express for Mac), even though the SMTP options in the accounts dialog suggests that it can. It just returns an error. I've applied all of the updates, and they don't help (one wonder what these updates are actually for, since they haven't seemed to add much in the way of improvements in the past couple of years).  - Sorting Filtering Tasks In the Entourage X Calendar "Day View", is there a way to sort/filter = the=20 tasks so that only the tasks for the next seven days are shown? I don't like seeing recurring tasks shown, for example, once I've=20 completed that week's version? Similarly, is there a way to sort the tasks in the Calendar "Day View" = by=20 priority within date? There are ways to do all this sorting in the "Tasks" section. Why can't = those carry over into the Calendar section? This works with the Palm=20 Desktop, and I thought it worked that way in Entourage 2001 Thanks!  - Default Find Dialog; Search Results Hi! Thanks in advance for your collective assistance with the following two issues: 1. When I want to search my messages and type command-F, I'm presented with the bare-bones Find dialog and ALWAYS select "More Options" in order to invoke an Advanced Search. Further, I always have to de-select everything expect "Messages" when searching (i.e.I almost never want Contacts, Calendar Events, Tasks, or Notes). Is there a way to make Entourage default to this "Advanced" view (complete with my "Messages"-only preference) when I type command-F? 2. Is there a way to have the "Search Results" display that for which I was searching? Currently, I'll run 3-4 searches for small text strings, but there's no way to see the search string selected for each Search -- they simply show up in the "Window" menu as "Search Results", "Search Results 2", "Search Results 3", etc. Many thanks!  - Rebuilding Entourage Database I'm using Entourage X with Panther and have had to rebuild the database on a frequent basis. This was also a problem in Jaguar. How can I prevent this? On the average, Entourage can't access the database 4-5/week, and requires either a reboot of the computer, or a rebuild of the database. I'm using a Mac G4/AGP with Panther 10.3.2 and have plenty of ram and hard disk space. How can I avoid having to constantly rebuild the database. Thanks for your advice.  - Junk mail notification in Entourage? My Entourage junk mail filters works well. The only problem is that when I receive mail that is sent to the junk folder Entourage comes to the forefront, no matter what I'm doing on my Mac.  - Entourage not receiving attachments Having problems with Entourage receiving messages with attachments. Whenever a client checks their email and a message is coming over with an attachment, Entourage always freezes midway. Not only does it freeze with the spinning color wheel but my whole system seems to freeze also. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I have about 20 or so co-workers screaming at me. HELP!  - Entourage will not launch I use a Power Mac G4 Quicksilver 867, OS 10.3.2, Microsoft Office X. I am unable to start Entourage X. First indication of trouble was when email messages in my email inbox became hidden, then error messages began to appear when I dragged the mouse curser over the email messages in my inbox, then several weird things started to happen with the scroll bar and folders. Then, Entourage quit totally, and when I tried to relaunch, a window appeared with the message, "The application Microsoft Entourage has unexpectidly quit". I dragged the Entourage application to the trash, and I reinstalled Entourage from the Install CD; nevertheless, I keep getting the same message that "The application Microsoft Entourage has unexpectidly quit". I reinstalled Entourage several times, and each time I receive the same "... unexpectedly quit ..." message. I am totally unable to launch Entourage. How do I get Entourage up and running? How do I find and eliminate the apparent corrupt file that I presume is the root of the problem. I ran Disk Warrior, with no success in fixing the problem. Thank you.  - Entourage (Microsoft Office 2001) ID problem Because of a computer problem I had to re-install complete harddrive including MS Office 2001. I am using OS 9.1 on an iMac. However I moved the "Identity folder" from "Documents" >> "Microsoft user date" >> "Office 2001 Identities" to another disk and thought I would be safe...... not so!! After re-installing MS Office 2001 and moving the saved "Identity folder to the "Documents" >>MS User data etc. I get the following message when trying to open Entourage :"This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage".  - IMAP Exchange Error 1025 when moving to public folders - HELP! MVP's I have a problem that has been extremely frustrating. I have Entourage 10.1.4 connecting to Exchange 2000 with the latest SP. I can connect, pull off my calendar, read and send email as well as move mail from my inbox to my other folders. I cannot move mail from my inbox to our companies public mail folders. Whenever I try this I get an error 1025. We exchange 2000 small biz server - so there are no other exchange servers on the network. I can move mail between public folders no problem. I AM GOING NUTS WITH THIS - my maibox is filling up and I have to user RDP to connect to a windows XP box to move messages. This makes this unusable.  - Entourage recovery help needed? Hi, I ran Norton Disk Doctor as as well as the defragment software to clean up my HD and as a result I seem to have lot access to one of my Entourage identities. The rest of the identities are intact but I cannot access one of them. Access is denied and it will not allow me to rebuild. I did not have a copy out side of what was on my HD ( I know it, please don't mention it :) Anyhow, any thoughts on ways to get the information back, if it is still around? I see the files for database, signature, etc. in the Office Identities X folder under the identity in question, but I cannot get it back into the program, even after creating new identity?  - Entourage does not allow mail in or out Every time I try to send or recieve an e-mail the error flag pops up=20 saying that it does not recognize my address or password. When this=20 problem could not be rectified by any other means, I scrapped all of=20 my Office V.X and reloaded, then I went on line and downloaded all of=20 the latest updates.  - More Entourage database problems My Entourage suddenly quit on me! I was working in Entourage when it suddenly shut down, and I havent been able to open entourage or access the database since (1,9 GB by the way). I use Microsoft Office X (version 10.0.0) on a Power Book G4, running OSX 10.2.8 I´ve been reading through recent q & a´s and I have tried a lot of different suggestions to fix this problem: Iv´tried Typical Rebuild & Advanced Rebuild but rebuilding failed. (read/write error -40, it´s likely that your database cannot be repaired) I´ve tried Norton Utilities (and updated virus scan just to make sure...) I´ve tried Disc Utility to verify and repair problems I´ve tried removing the microsoft folder from my preference folder I´ve even tried the fsck -y test in terminal window, but the hard disk seemed to be fine Are there any other suggestions that can help me fix this problem? My Entorage have been running without problems since I bought it, I use it every day at my work and this is my first ever problem with it. I´ve made a back up, but I made it after the problem occured (stupid me), will this data be useless, or can I try to import if I have to reinstall Entourage? I've figured out how to send messages finally, using the 'require authentication' option in account setup. I'm using smtp.mac.com as my outgoing.  - Entourage X Greetings...a minor problem with Entourage X. Running Panther 10.3.2=20 and Entourage 10.1.4. Every once in a while all my choices in the upper = left icon windows (mail, calendar, notes, address book etc.) go black as = the cursor goes over them. Entourage then stops working and I will get=20 either a blank message window or an error -192 window. When I force=20 quit and reopen, it's usually OK. I have performed both typical and advanced rebuild with notifications=20 off. I have repaired disk permissions with Disk Utility and completely=20 defragmented with Tech Tool Pro 4. And, it still happens. I think I may be facing a reinstall of Entourage. Also, I have an iBook = running same system and no problem there so I do not think it's related=20 to Panther.  - HELP! Entourage X lost database Hi: I've got a weird & strange Entourage (with all the updates) problem that I need help with. I was doing some audio recording with Wiretap and my computer (OS X 10.3.2; G4/867; 768 MB RAM) crashed, hard; when I came back from doing something else, the screen wouldn't come back up, and the same half-second audio snippet was repeating over and over again. So I reset and reboot. No problem. Well, when I launched Entourage, suddenly it only saw e-mail as of 1/10, which may have been the last time I did a backup. The last modified date on my Database file was 1/10. Oops, I thought. So I ran Diskwarrior. After it completed, when I went into the Microsoft User Identity folder, the last modified date of the Database was still 1/10. I thought "oh well." So I launched Entourage, and lo and behold, it had every e-mail, up to that afternoon. Yippee! But as I kept deleting e-mails, doing other things to change the databse, and quitting Entourage and relaunching it, the modified date on the Database file didn't change. The last modified date stayed 1/10. Odd, I thought. So, I decided to quit Entourage and rebuild the Database, because I thought I had all my e-mail, this weirdness was concerning me, and I thought that might fix things. After I rebuilt, I was again back to everything only from 1/10 -- and the last modified date of the Database was being updated again. What the dickens is going on? I assume that Entourage was working off some other Database file somewhere on my disk, but I can't find it anywhere. Any idea where I should look or what it might be called? I did a search for "Database"; nothing was the up-to-date file. So I'm sort of lost. The fact that this Database file wasn't erased over restarts gives me hope that it's not lost for good. I realize I was delinquent in my backups, but I'd really like this last week of data back.  - internet connect DSL Frequently when checking email, entourage goes into dial-up mode rather than DSL, followed by the pop-up message of "unable to connect to the internet as you failed to put in a telephone number."  - Memory allocation 9.2 OS and MAC: Office 2001.... lots of memory. Added another name and information in my Entourage address book along with a picture of the person; it will not take all the the information. Says not enough memory. Allocated 5K more and did't help. Did a rebuild. Didn't help. Can't close the "name and address card" that I just filled out, there is a "ding" sound and a box appears that says I haven't enough memory. What else can I do? Thank you.  - Entourage Database Problem When opening Entourage today, it appears that I have lost everything (e.g., account, mail, address book, etc.) and has been reset to a brand new install (Mac Team welcome note). I used it just a few hours before with no problems. I checked the database size (13MB) which leads me to believe that the data is still there.  - MVPs - someone could try this experimental solution? I had an idea as I was answering someone's post here in the Entourage group. I thought I would post it here to see if anyone might have the time and resources to try this. The original poster was looking for a solution to the compatibility issues between the new Palm T3 and Entourage conduit. To conserve on my typing I'll just past my answer/possible solution again below: As I have read here on the newsgroups, and also as seen here: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/palm.html> The problem is not limited to just the T3, but an device running the new Palm OS with the new Palm OS applications. So if you were to purchase any truly *new* Palm device, you will have the same problem. A way around this I would think would be to get your hands on the old Palm applications (i.e. The Datebook, Address Book, To-Do, and Memo apps) and install them on your new Palm and use those until new conduits are written. Keep in mind this solution would only work with Entourage, unless you were to get your hands on all the old conduits as well. (maybe someone else reading this who has the hardware and software and time to try this might let us know?) Of course the main drawback would be that these apps would reside in your usable memory, but a small price to pay... I really have no idea if this would work, but it seems to me it should. The new Palm OS is supposed to run all the old apps, and some of the new Palms when they first came out with the new OS had the old OS apps included. Personally, since I have a m515, I will continue to use that until I know the new ones are fully compatible. If it works, it would be some valuable information to add to the MVP help page. I came to work this morning, opened Entourage, and it started to walk
me through an initial setup. To my shock, there was no mailbox mail,
no accounts, no nothing. Starting over. I threw away the Entourage
Preferences file and tried to rebuild, but it only wants to rebuild
the new, empty version. Any help would be much appreciated before I
resort to starting the whole thing over from scratch. I'm thinking
this happened once before, but resolved after reboot ( I think).
