One of my rules is not working properly. I have a mail folder for one
of my clients and created a rule that would direct emails from various
people with the company to that folder. I added a new email address to
be directed there recently and also arranged my rules in alphabetical
order. Ever since then, messages that normally would be classifed as
"Junk" now appear in this folder and marked as "Business."

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

Since you rearranged your rules alphabetically, my guess is that the
"Business" rule is now higher than your "Junk" rule.

There must be something in the Business rule that is catching the email and
putting it in the Business folder. Try flipping the two rules and see if
that helps.

It's worked for me in the past.

I actually deleted all of my rules, but certain emails still are
directed to that particular folder. Any other thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

Hmmm. You mean you deleted all of the rules and then, with nothing to tell
E'rage where to file the mail, it still sent it to the Business folder?

That sounds strange.

I'm all out of suggestions on that one other than you may want to close
E'rage and then delete your preferences and start it up again and see what
happens. Sometimes that helps because the preferences are somehow corrupted
and the only way to address it is to delete the old preferences and start
anew.

Good luck!

I tried deleting the Entourage preferences as you suggested, but the
problem still persists.

Did you by any chance rename either the junk mail folder, or the category
called 'junk' to 'business'?

Those are 'special' items, with a unique id, and shouldn't be renamed.

No, I didn't change those at all. Any other thoughts?

Thanks.
