My wife has a G5 with OS 10.4 (about to update). Microsoft Office
2003 programs (WOrd, Excel, mainly) run fine EXCEPT for Entourage,
which opens but cannot access the Internet most of the time. None of
the mail settings have changed. Sometimes a restart allows upload/
download, and other Inet applications run. I tried reinstalling
Office, which seemed to work for a while. Any ideas?

It's Office 2004 not 2003 :-) Under Entourage in the Menu bar, select
About Entourage. If it says 11.3.6, then Entourage is fully updated. If not
then get these updaters:

Mactopia Downloads
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx>

You need to get these updaters:

11.3.5 combo
11.3.6 requires 11.3.5 to be installed
11.3.7 requires 11.3.6 to be installed
11.3.8 requires 11.3.7 to be installed
11.3.9 requires 11.3.8 to be installed

Note: even though Office has updated to 11.3.9, not all applications
including Entourage were upgraded to 11.3.9.

When you say can't access the internet, are you including your browser or
just Entourage doing a Send & Receive for mail?

It could be a corrupt message in your outbox, your ISP's server temporarily
not responding, a corrupt message you are trying to download.

Basics of Send & Receive:

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

Diane,

Thanks for your detailed help. I am uploading/downloading e-mail via
Entourage to/from worldnet.att.net, but have been thinking of
changing. I'll try all of your suggestions.

See these instructions for worldnet accounts:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/accounts/att.html>

Everyone seems to be rolling out security updates that require modification
of your Account. For example:

AT&T Yahoo - New Security Settings
