I'm running Entourage 2001 for Mac on OS 9.2. Lately, whenever I type
the letter "m" into the address field of a new message, it crashes the
application with no error message. I have already tried rebuilding the
database (typical and full rebuild) to no avail. Does anyone have any
ideas on how to fix? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hi Matt,

That is seriously weird (technical term :-), especially since the rebuilds
did not help. I don't know if this will make a difference but is your
Entourage 2001 updated with at least the Office 2001 Service Release 1?
It's available here: <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/download/>

While you're there, download *all* the recommended updaters:

Office 2001 Service Release 1
Word 2001 Macro Security Update
Excel/PowerPoint 2001 Macro Security Update
Entourage 2001 Hotmail Update (even if you don¹t have Hotmail)
Office 2001 SSL Security Update

Also, try trashing your Entourage Preferences (long shot, but...). They're
in Preferences>Microsoft in your System folder.

Another REAL long shot: Check the Symantec website to see if any viruses
matching this description have been reported <http://www.sarc.com/>

Finally, if all else fails, a complete uninstall/reinstall of Office may be
in order. If it comes to that, post back if you need step by step
instructions.
