Entourage constantly delays me while it updates various folders

I'm constantly getting the spinning rainbow cursor while I'm trying to
get work done while Entourage updates some folder. The updating never
seems to stop. It's so bad I have to work offline to get anything done.
I've checked in Preferences for updating options, but can't find
anything that helps. Help!

Hi Macophilia!

Are you by any chance noticing the progress bar at the bottom right hand
corner of your Entourage window to start syncing with no text before it
causing the beach ball of death to start spinning leaving you at a stand
still until it stops spinning? Almost as if Entourage is trying to sync
something but doesn't know what!?

I am having the same issue.

Hi Marco,

Not exactly the same problem, my status bar shows text, such as "Now
updating Contact" next to the constantly-in-motion status bar. The
beach ball/color wheel cursor locks me up for about 30 seconds at a
time, but does it constantly. I can't get through a three line email
without it locking me up at least 3 times.

Any ideas?

Hi guys,

I have this problem too. So, I'll post and get this topic back to the
top. Maybe somebody who knows sees it this time...

My Mac gets stuck at some point of syncing with the Exchange server
2003. I'll get the beachball and it wont recover from it. Only way to
get out is to force shutdown by keeping the power button pressed.

Same thing with both my Macs by the way. When I tried with the second
machine the first start went perfectly but next time I started it ended
up like the first one.

So, I can't start my Entourage 2004 anymore. Only way to use Exchange
is by web mail. Not ideal situation.

Details:
PowerBook G4 12" with OS X 10.3.9 (did this with 10.3.8 too)
iBook 12" with OS X 10.3.9
Entourage 2004 with latest updates
Exhange Server 2003 (no SP1)

Anybody have any ideas?
